Possible MOTU Booth Reveals
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, based on patterns from past reveals, early information we have received from anonymous sources, and recent trademark activity, there’s plenty of reason to be excited. From deep cuts in the Masterverse line to long-awaited additions to MOTU Origins—including the Vintage line, Cartoon Collection, 200x subline, and Mattel Creations Exclusives—there’s no shortage of figure potential. And with the MOTU x ThunderCats crossover heating up, we’re hopeful for some big surprises that fans won’t want to miss. Let’s dive into what might be on the horizon!
New Eternia Masterverse and Chronicles
Kicking off our list of potential reveals is the Masterverse line, which could have a major presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. We also recently recieved some intel that there could possibly be a rebrand or a subline called “Chronicles” with a movie Scareglow kicking the line off, which you can read about below:
Masterverse Wave 18
We’re hoping to get an in-person look at Masterverse Wave 18, featuring the New Eternia versions of Hordak, Teela, and Kobra Khan—figures that were officially revealed back in April 2025.
Hordak
Check out the official image of New Eternia Hordak ahead of the March 6, 2025 reveal! He is pictured with his staff and a set of wings, instead of a cape. This is also a classic black and gray version vs. the blue Filmation look we got for his first release. According to sources and his official description below, Hordak will also come with an arm cannon!

Masters of the Universe® Masterverse Hordak® Action Figure
SRP: $21.99 | 6Y+| Fall 2025
This MOTU Masterverse Hordak action figure is inspired by the original She-Ra: The Princess of PowerTV series from the ’80s and celebrates the 40thanniversary of the show! Designed at 7-inch scale with 30 points of articulation, he comes with removable articulated wings, a shield and staff and a cannon arm that swaps with the hand and wrist bracer. His armor includes a chest harness and arm band.
We found it interesting that Hordak was the only figure not shown in the Fall 2025 catalog lineup, when he was the very first official image to come out during Toy Fair 2025.

New Eternia Teela
According to sources, Teela will come with removable snake armor, a shield, Snake Staff, and a spear.

New Eternia Kobra Khan
According to sources, Kobra Khan will come with regular hands, claw hands, a removable cobra hood, blaster, and a mace.

Masterverse Wave 19
But that’s not all! We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for a reveal of Masterverse Wave 19, which is rumored to include New Eternia takes on Mantenna, Mosquitor, and Anti-Eternia He-Man. With the line continuing to expand in bold and unexpected ways, SDCC could be the perfect place to showcase what’s next for Masterverse.
Mosquitor MOTU Classics
Mosquitor is a striking addition to the Masters of the Universe Classics line, featuring a detailed sculpt that captures the perfect balance of mechanical and organic elements—a signature look of the Evil Horde. The head sculpt is especially strong, with an eerie, insectoid vibe that reinforces the character’s menacing presence. One of the standout features is the chest harness, which visually recreates the vintage figure’s blood-pumping effect using a translucent red plastic. While the action feature is no longer functional, the “filled” blood chamber gives the impression that Mosquitor has just fed, adding a gruesome touch to the design. The figure also includes small insect-like legs attached to the chest harness, similar to those seen on Buzz-Off and Webstor. While they offer some added visual texture, they feel somewhat unnecessary given Mosquitor’s already unique design, and can be posed folded down for a cleaner look. The sculpt also introduces new parts like softer plastic shorts, forearms, and hands, which allow for more flexible posing, though the joints—particularly at the elbows and wrists—should be handled with care. Altogether, Mosquitor stands out as a visually impressive figure with a few debatable design choices. If you want to still pick up the MOTU Classics version, you can find him HERE.

Mosquitor New Eternia Masterverse Concept
Dark Spectre Design Works created a very cool concept of a Masterverse Mosquitor and he posted a video on his YouTube channel about how he created this figure. In the video, he walks us through the custom creation of a Masterverse-style Mosquitor figure, merging elements of the classic toy with a more modern, articulated aesthetic. The core goal was to preserve the iconic blood-pumping action feature from the original figure while upgrading the sculpt and proportions to match the sleeker Masterverse line. To achieve this, he used the upper torso from the original MOTU Origins Mosquitor and combined it with a donor Masterverse Skeletor figure, carefully modifying limbs, adding a new head, and repainting the figure to give it a cohesive, high-end look. I love the addition of the wings since Mosquitor is a flying insect, it never made sense that he had spider legs attached to his back like Buzz-Off and Webstor.

Despite facing some filming limitations, especially during complex torso and limb integration, Dark Spectre Design Works shares valuable insights into the process—from part swapping and sculpting with materials like epoxy, to preserving articulation and action functionality. The result is a faithful yet refreshed version of Mosquitor that retains its nostalgic charm while fitting seamlessly into a modern collector’s display. The project showcases not only technical skill but also a deep respect for the character and community, blending creativity and craftsmanship with fan appreciation.

Mantenna MOTU Classics
Again, since we dont have any official images of the new Masterverse Mantenna yet, we will look at the MOTU Classics version to get an idea of what we might expect to see in this new figure. Mantenna was an exciting addition to the Masters of the Universe Classics line, that featured an extremely detailed sculpt and new buck that included 4 legs, which was a totally new design in the MOTU Classics line. This version of Mantenna did not however include the pop out eyes action feature with the typical lever that the vintage figure used. But rather he had an extra set of swap out eyes that were long extended ones that made it look like his eyes were popped out. So you have to choose how to display your Mantenna, regular eyes or pop out eyes. This was cool in some respects because some people liked to have the eyes permanently popped out on their display shelf. The head sculpt is especially stunning, as it really captured the vintage look of Mantenna which still allowing him to have both eye features. If you still want to track down a MOTU Classics version of Mantenna, you can find him HERE.
One of the standout features of Mantenna is his four legs, which visually recreates the vintage figure’s 4 legs effect while allowing each one to move individually instead of 2 together on each side. With the 4 legs feature, this figure sculpt introduced brand new parts for the MOTU Classics line, and allowed amazing poses for this figure. While his pop out eyes action feature is no longer functional, you can still choose which set of eyes to display him with. The figure also includes incredible details on his chest harness featuring the large Horde Bat just like the vintage Mantenna figure.
Anti-Eternia He-Man
While we don’t yet have official images of the Masterverse Anti-Eternia He-Man, this dark doppelgänger of the Most Powerful Man in the Universe is sure to excite fans of deep MOTU lore. Given Mattel’s tooling patterns, it’s possible he’ll reuse the 40th Anniversary buck that’s already been shared with the Masterverse Vintage Collection Faker a He-Man that is clad in black and red that pays homage to his iconic appearance from the German audio dramas and MOTU Classics line. Given the MOTU Classics version of AE He-Man is an entirely different buck, the similarities and differences will be seen in the paint apps! The Origins version has a much brighter paint app than the classics version, making the highlights stand out more. The whites of the eyes are also much brighter in the Origins version, giving the figure more life than the Classics version. One aspect I do like about the Origins versions is that boots are painted in the same color as his hair, which I felt could have been done in Classics but they chose to just make a straight black boot.

MOTU x ThunderCats
The MOTU x ThunderCats crossover line has been generating a lot of excitement, and we’ve received early information hinting at what might be included in Wave 3. As we reported earlier, one of the standout figures will be Panthor-Man, a wild fusion that blends elements of Skeletor’s loyal feline with a humanoid twist. Alongside this unique character, we’re also expecting to see additional variants of Lion-O and Panthro join the lineup. With SDCC 2025 just around the corner, we’re hopeful that some of these figures will make their debut on the show floor. While we don’t have official images, here is a concept we came across by Richard.
Panthor-Man Concept
Since we know that Panthor Man will be coming to the MOTU Origins ThunderCats line and we hope to see this figure revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2025. While we do not have any official images, we are featuring a MOTU Origins ThunderCats Panthor concept by Richard. Panthor is Skeletor’s loyal feline companion in the Masters of the Universe franchise, serving as an evil counterpart to He-Man’s Battle Cat. First released as a toy in 1984, Panthor shared the same mold as Battle Cat but was distinguished by a deep purple color and a soft, flocked texture. Over the years, Panthor has been re-released with various design changes, including new armor, helmets, and both flocked and unflocked versions. Using a mashup of an Origins Beast Man mixed with Mythic Legions tribute figure Purrrplor, Planetarydogtoys feet and helmet, Richard created this stellar looking Panthor MOTU Origins ThunderCats concept, that integrated inspiration from many of the previously released Panthor figure designs.

The helmet is removeable, as we expect the actual production figure to look, and you can see how great the figure looks with the oversized armor from the Mythic Legions Purrrplor figure.

Cartoon Collection Wave 27 & 28: MOTU Origins 200x
Of the information we’ve recieved, Continuing the Cartoon Collection The first figures that are due out for the 200x subline include Stratos, Tri-Klops, and another version of He-Man. While we do not know which version of He-Man we will be getting, we run down ALL of the versions of He-Man that came in the MOTU 200x line plus share some concepts of Tri-Klops and Stratos! The 200x subline within MOTU Origins is shaping up to be one of the most exciting directions for the brand, and we’re hoping San Diego Comic-Con 2025 gives us our first official look at this wave in the flesh. As we’ve previously reported, Wave 1 of the 200x subline is expected to include an as-yet-unnamed version of He-Man, along with updated versions of Stratos and Tri-Klops. Rounding out the wave is a deluxe release of Beast Man, who we anticipate will come packed with extra accessories or armor true to his 200x appearance. Looking even further ahead, a 200x version of King Randor has also been slotted for release in 2026, continuing the deep dive into the lore of the early 2000s animated series. With the growing popularity of 200x-inspired figures, SDCC could be the perfect time to showcase what’s coming next!
MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series
Another area we’re keeping a close eye on for SDCC 2025 is the MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series. Earlier leaks pointed to Spikor as an upcoming figure in this unique line, which reimagines classic characters through a concept art lens. Spikor would follow in the footsteps of Sy-Klone, who was the first single-carded release in the Sketch Book Series and gave fans a fresh take on a vintage favorite. In addition to Spikor, we could also see some of the characters recently teased in the Fright Zone box art—Mantenna, Buzz-Off, Battle Armor He-Man, Battle Armor Skeletor, and Hordak—all of whom were subtly showcased on the front illustration. While none of these have been officially confirmed for the Sketchbook Series, SDCC would be the perfect place to unveil more figures in this stylized and collector-focused subline. Thanks to yo_tengo_el_poder for posting a listing from Heo that shows that Sy-Klone and Spikor are coming to the MOTU Origins Sketch Book series!

Spikor
The character that would eventually be known as Spikor originated from a simple concept by Roger Sweet: an action figure that combined features of a humanoid and a porcupine, making it one of the more unusual creatures on Earth. In this early sketch, Spikor’s porcupine traits are more apparent. Not only does he have a more natural animal color scheme, but he also features a distinct snout and tail. While the trident arm seems to have been part of the design from the start, the mace appears less threatening than in the final version. Sweet had initially intended for the character to be named Spike, but marketing opted for a name that was more fitting for the world of Eternia.

Buzz-Off
Playfully referred to as cosplay Buzz-Off in modern days, we can see the early concept sketches of the he-man / bee mashup that was an early concept for the figure design.

Buzz-Off started life as the more humanoid character Bug-Off, who was also known as Wasp Man. Early Filmation model sheet designs suggest Mattel may have gone so far as to recycle He-Man’s head mold for this figure. Even though he only worked on MOTU a few times, Bailey’s designs made their way into both toy and animated form. He was also known for drawing comic strips featuring Mattel’s employees for fun.

A mock-up prototype was created around the He-Man figure.

Here is a back view of Buzz-Off showing show his wings work as you can flay them out or bring them down.

Battle Armor Skeletor
You’ll also notice a very different chest design for Battle Armor Skeletor as this too draws upon early sketches and concepts.

The MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series Battle Armor Skeletor by bombstaroutkast brings the original concept art to life with an imaginative and faithful execution. In the vintage illustration, Skeletor is depicted with a monstrous armored chest plate featuring a snarling, dragon-like creature mouth, along with clawed feet and a darker look. The concept figure translates this into a three-dimensional sculpt with impressive detail, showcasing the fierce green dragon head on his armor with sharp teeth and red eyes. The custom it captures the core design beautifully, complete with Skeletor’s classic purple hood, boots. It’s a striking homage that blends vintage inspiration with the talent that bombstaroutkast pours into this work!

Battle Armor He-Man
The chest design is quite interesting as this illustration draws from the early concepts of Battle Armor He-Man.

This concept art for Battle Armor He-Man for possible MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series reimagines the heroic warrior with a bold, mechanical twist. Unlike the classic version with the rotating chest plate, this design features a highly stylized and tech-heavy chest armor adorned with detailed panel lines and exposed twin guns. The central plate showcases intricate mechanical detailing, suggesting a more advanced or futuristic interpretation of He-Man’s iconic armor. An alternate chest design appears above the figure, displaying his classic symbol that echoes vintage MOTU. He-Man himself maintains his signature blond hair, muscular build, and bracers, grounding the concept in familiarity while giving the armor a visually dynamic upgrade. The overall design feels like a blend of classic Eternian power and sci-fi influence.

This concept that was created by bombstaroutkast and commissioned for Mr. Home Arcade for a Battle Armor He-Man for possible MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series figure that reimagines the heroic warrior with a bold, mechanical twist.

Hordak
At first glance, this might just look like another Hordak but inspiration was drawn from early sketches!

For years, it was assumed that the creators at Mattel were solely responsible for designing the Evil Horde, but recent evidence reveals that the concept was actually a collaborative effort between Mattel and Filmation. The two companies had a strong working relationship, with Filmation playing an equally important role in the development of Masters of the Universe. Lou Scheimer, head of Filmation, frequently met with Mattel representatives to discuss upcoming figures and explore opportunities to introduce new characters. Concept sketches, including early designs of Hordak and other Horde members, indicate that Filmation was deeply involved in shaping the visual direction of the Evil Horde. While the Horde figures were clearly intended for the MOTU toyline, Filmation’s production artwork confirms these characters were always meant to appear in the She-Ra: Princess of Power animated series. According to Roger Sweet, the name “Hordak” and the idea of the Evil Horde originated from Dave Capper in Mattel’s marketing department. Sweet also notes that Hordak’s appearance was inspired by a Hollywood interpretation of an African tribal witch doctor’s mask, with the final concept illustration completed by Ted Mayer on March 29, 1984. Other than some changes to the weapon, the final sculpt remained largely true to this original design.

Mantenna
This is not your usual Matenna as the they have drawn inspiration from the early sketches!

These two illustrations by Ted Mayer show the design evolution of Mantenna and a character known as Raydor. Evidence from both Mattel and Filmation confirms that Mantenna—originally given the name Sensor—remained largely unchanged from concept to final sculpt. His distinctive four-legged design was preserved throughout development, though the final toy achieved the look more cost-effectively by linking each pair of legs together. The weapon depicted in Mayer’s artwork closely resembles those carried by other members of the Evil Horde. Interestingly, in early Filmation production art, similar weapons were initially included but later erased—though faint outlines remain etched into the paper, offering a glimpse into the character’s evolving design.

MOTU Origins Mattel Creations
In addition to what’s coming to retail, we’ve also caught wind of an unconfirmed list of upcoming Mattel Creations exclusives for the MOTU Origins line—and if the rumors are true, collectors are in for a treat. The list includes some heavy hitters and long-requested characters like Two-Bad, Dragstor, Stonedar, and Multi-Bot, any of which could be officially revealed at SDCC 2025. While Mattel hasn’t confirmed these names just yet, the timing lines up with previous Mattel Creations drops, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see one or more of these fan-favorites debuting at the show. As always, we’ll be watching closely and will bring you updates the moment anything is confirmed!
