MOTU Origins 200x Subline Coming Spring 2026

We recently shared information from an anonymous source that Stratos and Tri-Klops were coming to the MOTU Origins line in 200x styling! We also have some new news that another version of He-Man will be joining the figure line! While that is not too exciting as we already have two versions of 200x He-Man in Origins, we came across more information about the 200x line that we wanted to share with everyone. Based on the information we came across, it appears that the MOTU 200x line will be coming in the Spring of 2026. We are hoping to see these figures revealed at SDCC 2025 as Mattel has historically out out their figures for the Fall and Spring releases for the following year. This information is all pending approval and given the current situtation with figure lines and tariffs, this information is subject to change but this is the most up to date information we have and based on the paragraph below, it looks like they are delving deep into the subline!

In 2002, a redesigned MOTU action figure line was released that has become known informally as 200X (pronounced ‘Two Thousand X’). The Spring 2026 Origins figures will be modern versions of these vintage designs and reinforcing the theme of good versus evil. Like previous Origins figures, they will be designed at 5.5-inch scale with 16 points of articulation and have exchangeable body parts and sharable accessories. Packed on a blister card.

MOTU Origins 200x Wave 1

We are calling this Wave 1 for lack of a better way to describe this as we already have previously released 200x figures in the MOTU Origins line. The first figures that are due out for the 200x subline include Stratos, Tri-Klops, and another version of He-Man. While we do not know which version of He-Man we will be getting, we run down ALL of the versions of He-Man that came in the MOTU 200x line plus share some concepts of Tri-Klops and Stratos!

200x He-Man

This version updates the classic He-Man design with a more detailed and stylized look, reflecting the anime-inspired aesthetic of the accompanying cartoon. There have already been two versions of the 200x He-Man made for the MOTU Origins line! The first version was a single carded release and the 2nd version was packed in a 4-pack that had chrome weapons. In fact, our very own Toy Sorceress did an amazing photoshoot and review of the MOTU 200x He-Man that came in the Mattel Creations 4-Pack!

200x Stratos

In the contemporary relaunch of Masters of the Universe, Stratos is reimagined with anatomical wings and a jetpack that enhances rather than enables his flight. Portrayed as one of the older Masters, he sports a Scottish accent reminiscent of Sean Connery. His Bird People return, including a key character named Hawke—a fusion of the original Hawke and Delora—who, though not explicitly stated in the show, is his sister according to the series bible and comics. Unlike her ’80s counterpart, Hawke is loyal and supportive of Stratos. His most notable appearances are in the episodes Sky War, where his people are tricked into conflict by Skeletor, and Trust, which sees him reluctantly teaming up with Trapjaw.

Stratos 200x Figure

The 200x interpretation of Stratos is ultimately underwhelming, especially when compared to other updated characters in the line. While the overall sculpt is detailed and consistent with the show’s stylized aesthetic, the execution of some design choices leaves much to be desired. One of the oddest aspects is the way his wings are extended from large wrist bracers, a concept that feels both impractical and visually awkward—it strays too far from the idea of natural or even believable flight anatomy. Additionally, the figure’s shoulder articulation, which should enhance poseability, feels largely ineffective due to the limitations imposed by his bulky design and the awkward wing placement. The inclusion of a missile-firing jetpack adds a small action feature, but it feels like a minimal consolation in an otherwise disappointing figure. Overall, this version of Stratos lacks the dynamic presence and functionality that could have made him a standout in the line.

Stratos 200x MOTU Origins Concept

Mr. Home Arcade delivers an impressive custom take on a Masters of the Universe Origins 200x-style Stratos, bringing fresh life to the character by thoughtfully blending classic and modern elements. This concept figure stands out primarily due to the clever addition of flight controls integrated into the wing assembly—a design choice that not only adds functional realism but also pays homage to the 200x aesthetic while improving on its shortcomings.

You can see how the flight controls plug into the jet pack and although thsi design does not incporate any firing rockets, we don’t think the actual version will have this feature. Mr. Home Arcade’s concept makes a compelling case for how a proper 200x Stratos could be realized in the Origins line, balancing nostalgia with innovation in all the right ways.

200x Tri-Klops

Tri-Klop’s design and appearance is slightly modified in the MYP animated series as his helmet is shown to be a cybernetic attachment, capable of firing a different-colored laser from each eye. We also can see (pun intended) when the helmet is melted by acid that he has artificial eyes that are wired cybernetically into his eye sockets. According to the Wiki Grayskull:

The cartoon gives Tri-Klops a much bigger role than the 1980s one did, and he is depicted as an irritable technologist and inventor, far removed from the original concept of the character as a more primitive warrior. He is Skeletor’s main inventor and spends most of his time in his workshop coming up with all sorts of weapons and vehicles to aid Skeletor, one of his most notable inventions being the Doomseekers, which are used to spy on He-Man and the Masters (a Doomseeker was also included with the new version of the figure). Shown to be considerably more intelligent than most of Skeletor’s minions (which is more in keeping with the vintage line’s original mini-comics), the cartoon also retains the portrayal of him as one of the more loyal of Skeletor’s minions.

Retaining his vintage style look with amore angular design, Tri-Klops featured a window on top of the head which channels light into the forward-facing eye, which gives the figure a more menacing look. The armor design is the most interesting aspect as it looks like the silver hoses around the upper chest and neck appear to be integrated into the helmet, making more of a connection that they are one unit. Like the 200x version of Skeleltor, Tri-Klops’ loin armor hangs down to his knees. This figure would make an amazing design for the MOTU Origins line with the unique knee and shin armor and the updated design to the original Origins figure.

Tri-Klops 200x Origins Concept

This custom concept comes from the talented Stronox Customs customs and you can see it has a very 200x look and feel to it with the hose detail on the armor and the extended loin cloth. The paint app that Stronox applies brings out SO much detail and although we would never see THIS MUCH detail in an Origins figure, this will give you a good idea of what a 200x version in Origins could look like.
