Masters of the Universe Origins Tauraton Official Images Revealed on Mattel Creations

Official images of the Masters of the Universe Origins Tauraton have surfaced on the Mattel Creations site and boy are we thrilled to finally get a good look at this beast! Tauraton is one of those deep cut characters that longtime MOTU fans have been hoping to see make it into the Origins line, and it looks like our patience is about to pay off. I love how the Origins team keeps digging into the rich well of Eternian creatures and warriors that made this franchise so special from the very beginning. The fact that we’re still getting surprises like this in the line really shows how committed Mattel is to giving collectors what they want. The sculpt looks incredible from what we can see in these images, and I just love the colors and overall presentation. There’s something so much fun about seeing a character like Tauraton finally get the modern Origins treatment while still honoring that vintage toy aesthetic we all fell in love with as kids. The card art is gorgeous, depicting Tauraton as a towering, crimson-skinned minotaur beast rampaging through a glowing underground labyrinth, all jagged gold armor and massive curved horns. The box itself wraps the figure in a purple-to-magenta cosmic gradient, with the accessories nestled in the tray alongside him.

The front of the box features an incredible illustration of Tauraton’s massive jaws wide open, rows of sharp metallic fangs framing a blinding burst of green-yellow energy pouring from its throat. The artwork leans into deep teals and steely blues across the creature’s skull-like head, all set against that swirling cosmic purple and magenta backdrop.

The included mini-comic, titled “Sneak Attack,” features a striking cover with Ninjor leaping across Eternian rooftops in his black and red ninja garb, a green-tinted weapon in hand, while Buzz-Off and other familiar characters lurk in the scene behind him. You can see several pages peeking out from behind the cover, hinting at full comic book-style interior panels. This mini-comic inclusion is a bit perplexing as I believe it was the same mini-comic that was included with the standard Ninjor MOTU Origins release.

The packaging artwork on this side panel is a full scene, showing Tauraton towering over what looks like Teela and a barbarian warrior in a lush green landscape, with a winged dragon creature soaring overhead. I like how the illustration leans into that classic fantasy painting style, all rich greens and golds, with Tauraton’s crimson skin and elaborate gold chest armor popping against the jungle setting.

Tauraton is an absolute beast in person, with six independently articulated arms sprouting from that deep crimson body, each one sculpted with a different hand pose ranging from clenched fists to open grasping claws. The gold spiked pauldrons sit heavy on his shoulders, and that crossed black leather harness with the ornate gold belt buckle ties everything together over a furry loincloth with some really nice sculpted texture.

Here’s a closer look at that club, which has a fantastic wood-grain texture running along the brown shaft, capped with a gnarly silver ram’s head sculpt complete with curling horns. The gold bull helmet is loaded with sculpted detail, from the ridged snout and tiny red eyes to those sweeping black and gray horns that have a subtle banded gradient running from base to tip.

You can see how those gold shin guards have a layered, segmented design with sharp talon-like protrusions curving outward at the knees, and his hooved feet are sculpted in a dark gray that contrasts nicely against the red ankles. The silver chest plate has a riveted, industrial look to it, sitting snugly between those spiked pauldrons and adding a cooler metallic tone that breaks up the warm red and gold color scheme.

Here are some fun shots of Tauraton squared off against what appears to be Teela, and the sheer size difference really sells how imposing this figure is when you put him next to a standard Origins figure with a bow. Something I appreciate here is how all that gold armor catches differently across each of the six arms depending on their angle, with the studded wrist cuffs and talon claws creating layers of visual texture that keep drawing your eye around the figure.

Here’s a closer look at the way the gold bull helmet sculpt flows into the chest armor, with the segmented collar piece bridging the two in a darker gunmetal tone that keeps the gold and silver elements from competing with each other. Those spiked gold wrist cuffs have a nice chunky, ornamental quality to them, with pointed studs that mirror the pauldron details and tie the upper and lower armor together.

Tauraton clocks in at a full 8 inches tall, and you really get a sense of that scale here with all six arms spread wide, making him tower over anything else in your Origins shelf. I like how the extra pair of lower arms, tucked beneath the primary four, features those golden talon-like clawed hands that feel distinctly more feral than the fists and grasping hands above them.

Here’s a full layout of everything Tauraton ships with, and that chest armor piece is something else up close, with its dark gunmetal bucket shape flanked by those gold star-burst pauldrons that clip onto each side like medieval jousting armor. The club’s silver ram’s head end has a spiked mace ring just behind it, a nice little detail that separates this from a simple bludgeon and makes it feel like a proper fantasy weapon.
