The artwork and packaging for these figures are exactly like the vintage original, from the artwork, to the Super Heroes logo, down to the exact color of the boxes, Mego hit it outta the park with these! So let’s take a look at the latest Wave 19 Mego 50th Anniversary World’s Greatest Super Heroes. Also be sure to check out Absolutely Retro.com for all your Mego needs! Classic Batman

Batman has been released already for the Mego 50th Anniversary line in his removeable mask version, but this version of Batman brings us the classic Darknight Detective! Finally a version of Batman that allows you to have his cape eitehr closed in front like the comics or have his arms open and pose him in a flying cape pose! With new face sculpt by Andrew Covalt, this is the Batman fans have been waiting for!

According to Mego Classic Batman in wave 19! First Look! – Mego Museum:

Neal Adams was the artist who took Batman from the campy TV show look back to “The Darknight Detective” in the pages of DC’s “Brave and the Bold” comics.  Editor Julius Schwartz got so much fan mail asking for Adams to be the regular artist on “Batman” and “Detective Comics” that it changed the way the Caped Crusader was drawn in all titles by 1970.

We have always wanted a Mego Batman that had a big enough cape to close in the front – just like in the comics.  This cape has six large panels to allow you to pose him in any action position!

Mego Corp. adds the Masked Manhunter to our 50th Anniversary World’s Greatest Superheroes line with a great new sculpt and paint master by Andrew Covalt.

This is the Batman we need! This is the Batman we have been waiting for!

Hawkman

We’ve been waiting for a classic Super Powers style Mego Hawkman for years and this is the classic version fans have been waiting for! I just love his classic cartoon colors and plastic wings!

According to: First Look: Mego Hawkman from World’s Greatest Superheroes Wave 19 – Mego Museum:

Scientific genius Carter Hall from another world flies into action as Hawkman, the winged avenger. Using his arsenal of amazing weapons, he battles both earthly and interplanetary foes.

First appearing in 1940 in Flash Comics #1, Hawkman was a founding member of the Justice Society. When the DC superhero universe was reintroduced in the 1960s, Hawkman’s origin became an alien lawman named Katar Hol, and he soon joined the Justice League of America. Hawkman can always be relied on in the fight for good versus evil!

Mego Corp. continues to expand their 50th Anniversary World’s Greatest Superheroes collection with this classic hero.  Sculpted by Andrew Covalt.

Lex Luther

This version of Lex Luther gives us his classic comic book and animated look in his purple and green soft goods outfit!

According to First Look: Mego Lex Luthor in Wave 19: World’s Greatest Superheroes – Mego Museum:

Although he has no superpowers to speak of, Luthor has come closer to defeating Superman more times than any of his other adversaries. With his brilliant mind, Luthor’s schemes nearly always come close, until his massive ego gets in his way. No matter the situation, it’s Luthor’s hubris that’s always his downfall.Lex Luthor is the greatest criminal mind of our time.  The primary arch-enemy of Superman, Lex uses his intelligence to create machines to destroy the Man of Steel.

Mego Corp. adds the Lex Luthor to our 50th Anniversary World’s Greatest Superfoes line with a great new sculpt by Andrew Covalt and with costuming by Dave McCormick.

Sinestro

For this version, Mego brings us the Green Lanter Corps yellow outfit Sinestro, complete with his pink skin and everything! He comes with his yellow lantern, and classic yellow and black Corps outfit.

According to Mego Sinestro from Mego 50th Worlds Greatest Superheroes line – Mego Museum:

Sinestro of Korugar is the arch-enemy of Green Lantern. At one point, the greatest member of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro was corrupted by his power and exiled for his crimes. Employing a yellow power ring to combat the green, his prowess and ruthlessness have made him one of the most feared villains in existence, and eventually he established his own Sinestro Corps using the power of fear.

Demon Etrigan

This is a very deep cut character with Demon Etrigan. This is a rare selection for Mego to pick to include in this wave, but it shows you the depth in characters they are willing to go to.

According to First Look: Mego Demon Etrigan from the Worlds Greatest Superheroes – Mego Museum:

“Gone! Gone! – the form of man – Rise the demon Etrigan!”  This unlikely hero was created in 1972 as two characters – demonologist Jason Blood forced to share a body with the hell-born Etrigan. Merlin’s servant since the days of Camelot, Etrigan is a member of the Justice League Dark magical circle, fighting demons and extradimensional foes.

Created by Jack Kirby, the Demon was a different type of comic book. Part horror, part superhero – Etrigan was an anti-hero before the term became popular. Even after his series ended, Etrigan kept popping up in other comics – teaming up with Batman, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, and other superheroes.

Mego Corp. continues to expand their 50th Anniversary World’s Greatest Superheroes collection with this sometimes hero.  Sculpted by Tyler Hamm.  Costume by Brian Leitner.

Spectre

Spectre is again another really deep cut character for Mego to select to include in this wave. A member of the Justice Society, Spectre is a magical DC universe character.

According to Mego 50th Anniversary WGSH The Spectre- First Look! – Mego Museum:

In Honor of Father’s Day, here is a sneak peek at one of the new DC 50th anniversary superheroes – the Spectre – who first appeared in More Fun Comics #52 in 1940.

A member of the Justice Society and the Justice League, the Spectre is a major part of the magical DC universe.

As someone who grew up reading those amazing 100 page giant DC Comics, the golden age stories of the Spectre made me wish he was part of my MEGO line-up.

Now he joins the wave 19 characters, hopefully in time for this holiday season.

Creepshow

Creepshow is a very odd choice and yet again another really deep cut character for Mego to select to include in this wave.

Creepshow has green moss that looks to be flocked all over his upper part of his body. He is wearing a red plaid shirt and blue jeans beneath all that moss.
