MOTU Origins Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure Wave 1 Preorders

The first wave of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Origins Build-A-Figure assortment is now available for preorder, featuring He-Man, Beast Man, and Battle Armor Man-At-Arms! We first got a look at these figures during our SDCC 2026 MOTU booth coverage, and it’s great to see these vintage illustration-inspired designs finally going up for preorder.

While Mattel considers the vintage MOTU Origins line technically complete (yeah, right!), they’re still finding ways to release some really cool figures. I especially love the homage to the vintage MOTU cardback illustrations, which featured some fantastic interpretations of these characters. Seeing those designs brought to life as actual action figures is something I can definitely get behind.

Each figure includes a piece of Shadow Beast, a seven-inch Build-A-Figure that requires collecting all six characters in the assortment. Mattel is also doing something different with the packaging, featuring connecting character illustrations and comic-strip panels that form a larger story when all six packages are assembled.

Entertainment Earth is the first retailer to open preorders, with all three figures priced at $23.99 each and an estimated December 2026 arrival. We expect BigBadToyStore and Amazon to follow, and we’ll update the preorder links as they become available.

Where to Buy

You can preorder the figures at the following retailers below

Masters of the Universe Origins 2027 Wave 1 Battle Armor Man-At-Arms Action Figure

Battle Armor Man-At-Arms Official Images
Battle Armor Man-At-Arms takes Duncan in a different direction from his traditional Origins appearance. His orange chest armor includes a raised collar, sculpted tubing, and a purple eagle emblem, while blue armor covers his helmet, wrist, and belt. The asymmetrical orange shoulder, forearm, and shin armor contrasts with his green skin. Mattel includes a translucent blue mace, and the figure retains the Origins line’s approximately 5 1/2-inch height, 16 points of articulation, and removable body parts.

Duncan can raise his mace overhead, with his left arm extended and legs spread apart. The blue wrist armor matches the helmet and belt, while the oversized orange shoulder guard and forearm armor remain on the opposite arm.

Duncan can also hold the translucent mace across his waist. The weapon has a textured handle and rounded head, with the sculpted collar rising almost to his mouth. His mustache and blue helmet remain recognizable despite the heavier armor.

The orange chest armor features the purple eagle emblem, with sculpted mechanical details beneath it. His black boots, blue belt, and asymmetrical shin armor complete the design.

The chest armor has a second eagle illustration with different markings. The product photography includes three distinct versions of the emblem, although Mattel’s retailer description does not explain whether these are part of a working battle-damage mechanism.

The third chest-emblem variation features additional dark markings across the eagle, completing the three versions pictured in the official photography.

The rear armor features a large sculpted emblem and additional panel lines. The blue helmet has ridges and mechanical details across the back, while the orange shin guard wraps around the lower leg.

Masters of the Universe Origins 2027 Wave 1 Beast Man Action Figure

Beast Man Official Images
Beast Man’s vintage-inspired design features a large red fur collar, spiked shoulder armor, and a blue circular chest emblem. The orange body has sculpted fur on the forearms and lower legs, while the face includes blue markings around the eyes and mouth. Mattel includes his familiar black whip, which has a long cord and sculpted handle. The figure measures approximately 5 1/2 inches tall, with 16 points of articulation and removable body parts.

Beast Man can hold the whip across his body, with the cord extending outward in a wide loop. His open-mouthed expression includes exposed teeth, while the large red collar and shoulder armor follow the exaggerated proportions of the vintage illustration.

The whip can also be raised overhead, with the cord curving behind his shoulders. The red armor includes multiple curved spikes on each shoulder, while the blue chest emblem sits in the center of the sculpted fur.

Beast Man’s blue trunks and yellow belt contrast with the red collar, and the sculpted fur continues down both shins. His black whip features a textured handle with a spiked end and a long cord.

The large red collar extends across Beast Man’s upper back, with layered fur sculpting and spikes rising above the shoulders. The sculpted fur continues along his forearms and lower legs, while the yellow belt and blue trunks remain consistent with the front.

Masters of the Universe Origins 2027 Wave 1 He-Man Action Figure

He-Man Official Images
He-Man returns with a design inspired by vintage Masters of the Universe illustrations, featuring a gray chest harness with a red H emblem instead of the familiar cross. His orange belt, reddish-brown trunks, and matching boots differ from the standard Origins release. The head sculpt features blond hair, dark eyebrows, and a teeth-baring expression. He-Man includes a gray Power Sword and shield with orange panels and raised silver studs. He stands approximately 5 1/2 inches tall, with 16 points of articulation and removable body parts.

The Power Sword features a broad blade with sculpted cutouts near the guard. The gray harness crosses over He-Man’s shoulders and chest, while the orange wrist bracers match his belt. The shield attaches to his forearm.

He-Man can hold the sword outward while keeping his shield raised. The shield features four orange recessed panels surrounding a raised central boss, with rounded silver studs around the outer edge. His muscular sculpt retains the classic Origins proportions.

The gray sword has a broad blade with angular cutouts, while the shield features orange panels and raised studs. Both accessories are removable, and the shield includes an attachment for He-Man’s forearm.

The rear harness includes storage for the Power Sword, which sits vertically against He-Man’s back. The shield remains attached to his forearm, while the rear of his trunks and boots feature sculpted textures.
Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure and Packaging
Each of the three figures includes one component for the seven-inch Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure. Collectors will need all six figures in the assortment to complete Shadow Beast.
The packaging is another departure from standard MOTU Origins releases. Each figure features a character illustration on the side panel, and the illustrations from all six packages combine into a larger battle scene. The back panels use a comic-strip format, with each package contributing a section of the complete story.
Battle Armor Man-At-Arms’ packaging tells a story involving Castle Grayskull’s Royal Guard, while Beast Man’s packaging focuses on Skeletor’s Hairy Henchman. He-Man’s packaging follows the Most Powerful Man in the Universe.
The three figures are currently available for preorder at Entertainment Earth for $23.99 each, with an estimated December 2026 arrival. Release dates are subject to change.
