New Eternia Masterverse Wave 18 Figure Assortment Details

Hot off the heals of the early information we received regarding the New Eternia Masterverse Wave 17 figure assortment details, we got wind of the New Eternia Masterverse Wave 18 figure assortment! This is a special time for the Masterverse line as this introduces a new faction never seen before in the line. Yes, that is right! We are getting our very first Snake Men figure in the Masterverse line and we could not be more excited! Another amazing thing about this figure assortment is that a special lady completes the first 8 figures in the New Eternia Masterverse line! The first 8 figures is a reference to the vintage Masters of the Universe line and we finally have knocked off those figures for the Masterverse line! Without further ado, here is the lineup for the New Eternia Masterverse Wave 18 figure assortment!

The New Eternia Masterverse Wave 18 figure assortment will include an one member of the Horde, one Evil Warrior, and the first ever Snake Men!

New Eternia Teela

Teela is the Captain of the Royal Guard at the palace of Eternos and thus responsible for training and protecting Prince Adam of Eternia. While Adam is He-Man, Teela often assists him in his battles, though she is unaware of his alternate identity. Teela was one of the first characters developed for Masters of the Universe, although her figure was released in the second half of the first wave. Released in the later half of 1982, Teela was the first female figure in the MOTU line and here is the concept we could see come to life as a New Eternia figure. This design, developed by Mark Taylor, was conceived as a powerful heroic warrior armed with a shield and spear!

Here is another concept of Teela drawing. Her outfit is similar to the design on the B-Sheet but her head illustration flowing hair! It would be amazing to get a couple different versions of Teela in New Eternia Masterverse style.

MOTU Classics and Masterverse Revelation Figures

Looking at the Masterverse Teela and MOTU Classics Teela side by side, you can see that the new Teela is very reminiscent of the MOTU Classics version in her traditional dress, slightly modernized to match the Revelation cartoon. Where the MOTU Classics Teela is a direct representation of the vintage figure, only larger scale, and highly articulated. Both have red hair with tiaras, arm and wrist bracers, and gold trim to their dresses. The Classic version seems to have a bit more detail to her outfit, and is mainly white, with gold and burgandy accents. The Classics Teela is also wearing a gold-colored belt as well. I do like the look of the MOTU Classics Teela, and they did do a great job on her face too. They new Masterverse Teela, however seems to have a more realistic looking face with better make up. Where the new Masterverse Teela outshines the Classic Teela is in the articulation and the pin-less joints! You cant help to notice those huge pins on the elbow and knee joints on the Classics figures, where the new Masterverse figures all have pin-less joints, which give them a huge advantage! Given how expensive the MOTU Classics Teela is, I say for the retail price of $21.99, this new Teela is well worth it, and so I give this up to the Masterverse version in terms of value for your money.

New Eternia Hordak

The MOTU Classics line makes a great blueprint for Masterverse figures, although the New Eternia style throws in a new twist from a design perspective! His color scheme from his MOTU Classics version and overall appearance are well executed. The skin tone, as detailed in his bio, is perfect, and the accent colors—mainly grey and red—are a great match for the Filmation style. He came with an Imp figure, which would be a cool pack-in for the New Eternia line!

Hordak was already made for the Masterverse line (shown below) so the gears are turning in our heads how Mattel can differentiate this from his first release.

A very cool concept for a New Eternia Hordak comes from Madosa Customs as he has applied his signature style and even upgraded Hordak’s cape, giving him a more menacing and dangerous look!

A cool feature, that would help pave the way for new winged characters in the Masterverse line, would be to give Hordak a set of wings, like his MOTU Origins Turtles of Grayskull release.

New Eternia Kobra Khan

Kobra Khan was released in 2012 in the MOTU Classics packaging can obscure the head sculpt, particularly the second head, but for MOC collectors, the consistent design is important. For those who open their figures, this is not an issue. His bio reads, “A descendent of the ancient Snake Men, Khan became fascinated with the many legends of their victories in the Great Wars. Breaking into the archives of Eternos Palace, he learned that the great King Hssss had been locked in the Void at the end of the war. In a ruse to free his King, Khan joined forces with Skeletor and, with the help of Evil-Lyn, they acquired Zodak’s staff, the key to freeing his Snake Men brethren. Together he and Evil-Lyn opened the Snake Pit portal releasing Hssss and his ageless army, returning their terror to Eternia. Khan went on to loyally serve Hssss, controlling his prey with his evil hypnotic mist!”

For the March 2012 release, Kobra Khan, the ambassador between Skeletor and Hssss, has been included. This character has appeared in both the original series and the 2002 reboot, and the new release features subtle references to both versions of the show.

A killer fearure for Kobra drawing inspiration from the MOTU Origins line, would be to create a figuer with a water blast effect. His MOTU Origins figure came with his vintage style orange blaster and a translucent green squirt effect and that would make a cool pack-in for the Masterverse line.
