Skeletor Masterverse Netflix Animated CGI Figure Review
Check out our in depth review of the Masterverse Netflix animated Skeletor and his Core figure comparison with lots of pics and video!
When the Masterverse boxes were revealed at Power Con 2021 featuring 4 sub-lines (New Eterernia, Revelation, Princess of Power, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), we really didn’t know what to expect! With the Day 2 Mid March reveals, the CGI Masterverse Skeletor was revealed and this was the missing link to figuring out the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe sub-line. Flashforward to today and we are not getting to see this figure in all his havoc glory and we can see how we stacks up against his Core 5.5″ scale figure!

Box and Art
Box Front and Back
As you can see, Skeletor takes up most of the space inside the single figure Masterverse box! There is really only room for air here! On the back of box we see an illustrated version of Skeletor and he pretty much looks like his Netflix animated self! He is striking a very cool pose with this Havoc Staffed raised high! There are also cool glowing effects emanating from his chest as well as his Havoc Staff as if the Havoc is flowing freely through him, which it most definitely is!

Side and Back Box Art
The scene on the side of the box ties in with the box art on the back and we get a larger illustration and detail for the Havoc Staff and the green Havoc that flows through the eyes and horns of the staff and through his chest, evidenced by the green glow which looks like lava flow.

Skeletor
This is a 7″ Skeletor from the Netflix Animated Series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series. It is an articulated, scaled up version that is more detailed than the Core line version that accompanied the cartoon series release. To say that this figure is scaled up in an understatement because the figure is MASSIVE in both size and weight! The color pallet is simple with different shades of purple and greens as the dominant colors. The light blue skin was captured perfectly and compliments the other colors very nicely! The head sculpt is nicely done with blacks used to represent the negative space in his skull.

Chest and Back
The main attraction for this figure is the massive armor to go along with the overall size of the figure. The spikes on the armor straps are very fitting and they join to meet the light purple skull in the middle with the neon green eyes. The green Havoc flowing through the chest looks like it’s radiating into his body and flowing like blood. The hood design looks like fabric and they did a great job with the texturing and the way it lays on Skeletor’s head. Given his hood design is so prominent, there is not much room for articulation and his head can move from side to side and up (just a little) and down.

Arms
The arms of Skeletor as HUGE and there is a different bracer design on each wrist to give the figure an asymmetric look. Like the straps on the armor flowing around Skeletor’s upper body, there is a similar design to the bracers and you will notice that the right bracer coloring is different from the left. They did an excellent job on the left hand recreating the skeletal bones and the color of the hand is a different shade than his face! The exposed forearm bone is a nice touch and plays into his animated appearance as he melted his skin off in the series.

Waist
The belt design is is also highly detailed and it looks like has a mouth of a snake as a belt buckle. The chains wrap all the way around his waist and the loin cloth design looks great! Again, they did a fantastic job recreating the flow fabric (in plastic) with varying shade of purple and deep blue.

Legs
Like the bracers, the boot design is very organic and it feels like a snake or a slithering being is wrapping around this legs. He has 3 toes with very large nails, which actually help him stand!

Weapons and Accessories
Havoc Staff
The Havoc Staff is also a substantial piece to go along with the size of this figure. The horns are huge and have a nice neon green paint app that mirrors the Havoc flowing through Skeletor’s chest. The face of the staff resembles his armor in a smaller scale is a great tie in to the figure. There is also a plastic chain connected to the back of the staff, which gives it more of a premium feel. The handle of the staff is a deep shade of purple and there is a small skull at the base of it.

Because the Havoc Staff weighs so much, Skeletor might have trouble retaining an arm pose with it so this is something to look out for but he looks amazing holding it!

Right Hand
Skeletor comes with an extra closed fist and you cans see the figure nail detail is also painted on the inside of it.

Left Hand
The left hand also comes with a closed bone fist and you can see they did a great job with the detailing to make it look real!

Core Figure Comparison
We have been waiting for this Masterverse scale figure to come out so we can compare him to his 5.5″ Core Figure counterpart for the kids line.

The Masterverse figure definitely towers over the the core figure but with respect to the overall design, the Masterverse figure has more paint details but the sculpts between the two figures are quite similar. There is a different color pallet used on the Masterverse figure and we feel it goes so much better than the color scheme of the Core figure. We never really picked up how neon green Skeletor’s face was on his core figure until now but you can see that the different shade of yellow in the Masterverse figure. All in all, this is a great translation of the Core figure in Masterverse scale in both detail and paint app!

Skeletor vs He-Man
No review would be complete without a duel between He-Man and Skeletor but, as you can see, the Masterverse figure towers over the Most Powerful Man in the Universe in many ways!

Skeletor is even larger than He-Man and he stands a good inch taller than him! He is also a heck of a lot bulkier and most substantial, and frankly, makes He-Man look like a whimp!

Since this is a review of Skeletor expect him to get the upper hand in a battle as he’s laid out He-Man (spoiler alert: guess who will come out on top when we review He-Man…hmmm…ponder that one!
