Stegosaurus MOTU Origins Powers of Grayskull Concept
Leave it to the insanely talented bombstaroutkast customs to create a concept that he saw in The Power and the Honor Foundation book and bring it to life in plastic. As we have a personal copy of Power and the Honor Foundation book, we can attest to the fact that there are some crazy concepts that never made it to fruition for the Masters of the Universe line. One creature line in particular, the dinosaurs, was as doomed as the asteroid that wiped them out of existence in the first place. The Powers of Grayskull line was supposed to introduce dinos into the line, and it did, but the line was cancelled and a few dinos made it into production, which include, Bionatops, Turbodactyl, and Tyrantisaurus Rex. We’ve seen some amazing 3D printing from the likes of Gigantisaur but the Stegosaurus adds a very cool concept that bombstaroutkast customs made his own. Before we dive into concept, let’s recap what the Powers of Graykskull line could have been.
The Powers of Grayskull
As we mentioned above, the Powers of Grayskull was a short lived off shoot of the Masters of the Universe line in the late 1980’s. Set to take place in the pre-historic land of Preternia, only a couple dinosaurs were made and of course our famous two giants Megator and Tytus.
According to the lore, the Powers of Grayskull are a set of magical abilities that grants immense strength, wisdom, and protection against dark forces to the bearer. These powers were first imbued in Castle Grayskull, which served as a center of power for good forces in the universe. The guardian of the castle, Sorceress, possessed the powers and could bestow them on the chosen champions. The powers of Grayskull include strength, agility, wisdom, telekinesis, teleportation, and the ability to communicate with animals. The primary power is the Power of Grayskull, which can grant the wielder incredible strength and enhance their fighting skills. The powers of Grayskull are often sought by the villains of the universe, such as Skeletor, who wants to use them for his evil purposes. However, the powers can only be used for good, and only a worthy champion who possesses a pure heart and courage can wield them.
The packaging of the three dinosaur toys that did see release before the line’s discontinuation bore the following text:

Stegosaurus Origins
In The Power and the Honor Foundation book, you can find a section on dinosaur concepts, among other funky and freaky concept art. Concepts for good and evil dinosaurs in the MOTU line floated around for many years. It was not until the last year of MOTU that they finally become a reality and appeared as part of the Powers of Grayskull line extension. One of the concepts that never made it into plastic for shows Leech riding a Stegosaurus that has an integrated platform and plaster mount.
Stegosaurus Concept
The amazing bombstaroutkast customs has created his own concept and brought it to life! The concept art looked very organic and, what was missing was the technology aspect of the Masters of the Universe. For example, the concept art shown above looks like a blaster platform is placed on top of the Stegosaurus while the concept shown below has really leaned into the technological aspect of MOTU in a great way! The canon feels like it is part of the organic being versus a piece that just sits on top. In addition, the wings add another dimension to the concept that is not shown in the illustration. The legs of the Stegosaurus also have a machine look and feel to them, which adds depth to the concept.
Here we can see how a MOTU Origins figure can be displayed with it and it looks fantastic! As we eagerly await Powers of Grayskull figures for the MOTU Origins line, it is customers like bombstaroutkast customs who are bringing these amazing concepts to life.
