Stonedar MOTU Origins Mattel Creations February 2026 Preorder & Official Images
We have more Masters goodness quietly lining up ahead of the Mattel Creations REVEALED event in March 2026 and there is nothing quite like that familiar Mattel Creations calendar refresh to get the MOTU Origins gears turning, and this time we do not have to speculate because Stonedar has officially been confirmed as the February 2026 Mattel Creations MOTU Origins figure drop, locking in that February 24 date and finally bringing one of the last major vintage gaps into sharp focus. I have to tell you, seeing Stonedar’s name attached to that slot instantly changes the tone of the conversation, because for years now Rokkon has been standing alone on collectors’ shelves, and if you grew up in the 1980s like I did, you know those two were always meant to be displayed side by side. The Comet Warriors have been one of the most talked about loose ends in the vintage-inspired Origins run, especially with Rotar and Twistoid fresh in our minds after their tease on the Blast Attak card art, and now with Stonedar stepping up for February, it feels like Mattel is deliberately working through those final checkmarks in a way that keeps the excitement alive. I love when a drop feels purposeful, and this one absolutely does, because Stonedar is not some deep cut afterthought, he is a foundational late-vintage character that completes a story visually and historically within the line. As we head toward February 24, there is a renewed sense of momentum around Origins, and while patience has been tested over this slow burn toward finishing the vintage roster, confirming Stonedar signals that Mattel Creations is still very much invested in seeing this era through. Watching these last few iconic names fall into place is honestly part of the fun, and I am all in to see what domino falls next. Huge shout out and thank to @toyhuntersholler for the heads up! So let’s check out the Stonedar MOTU Origins Mattel Creations February 2026 preorder info and official images! And look here, with the release of the card back art and new mini comic, we get an even bigger tease for Granita, can she be next?

Just as we saw with Rokkon, this Comet Warrior has a greyish and blue rock exterior and blue humanoid body on the inside of his rocky exterior camouflage. Stonedar features gold, blue and red accents on his robotic like humanoid body and has a serene look on his face. Stonedar includes his handheld light blazer blaster that also plugs in to the body as a radar antenna!

In the original series and lore, Stonedar is depicted as one of the heroic warriors from the race known as the Rock People. The Rock People were first introduced in the “She-Ra: Princess of Power” animated series and later appeared in the “Masters of the Universe” line. Stonedar often appears as an ally of the heroes in the series, such as He-Man and She-Ra. His character embodies themes of strength and resilience, representing the solid foundation and the enduring nature of the earth. Stonedar was often portrayed as living in the mystical land of Eternia, where he and his fellow Rock People can harness the powers of the earth. They are typically depicted as protectors of their realm.

Stonedar’s rocky, humanoid appearance reflects his nature as a Rock Person. He has a rugged, earthy look that emphasizes his connection to the ground and stone. As a Rock Person, Stonedar has unique abilities linked to his rocky composition. He possesses superhuman strength and durability, making him a formidable opponent in battle. He can also manipulate earth and rock, which ties in with his character’s theme. He also has the ability to manipulate rocks and earth, making him a powerful ally in battles against evil forces. Stonedar is often portrayed with a strong sense of duty and loyalty to his comrades, particularly to the other Masters of the Universe.

Stonedar features enhanced articulation, allowing for more dynamic poses, and detailed sculpting that pays homage to his classic look while incorporating modern design elements.

This enhanced articulation allows him to easily fold up and transform into his rock formation! He easily folds up into his rock form, just as Rokkon did.

Here you can see Stonedar fully transformed into his hidden rock form. His rock exterior features a nice blue accent over his grey rock exterior.

Stonedar also includes a mini comic, “Destroyer of Worlds”. I love the mini comic cover art It features Stonedar promently in the center along with the Rokkon and Granita standing together, as well as Evil Lyn in the background.

The card back features the collector friendly clear slip case that allows you to slide the card back and figure easily out of the packaging. The front of the card back features the classic MOTU Origins red rock burst and a nice illustration of Stonedar on the front. Where it gets super exciting in the rear of the card back! We can see Stonedar swooping down to do battle with Multi-Bot in the foreground. Just behind him is Granita, could she be coming next? And also we can see Rokkon flighting down toward a rocky peak about to battle with a purple evil warrior. It’s hard to make out who that is right now but you can see he has multiple legs like Mantenna and what looks like a tail in the rear.

Teases
The rocky warrior is almost here and I have to admit, seeing these close up teases of Stonedar has my MOTU Origins heart racing just a bit because Mattel Creations is clearly leaning into what made this late vintage character so unique in the first place. There is something incredibly satisfying about finally watching the Comet Warrior take shape in Origins form, and even from these tight shots, you can tell this is going to be a faithful update that captures that craggy, otherworldly look. From the first close up, we get a detailed look at Stonedar’s chest armor with that bold teal base framed by metallic gold accents sculpted with geometric panel lines, giving it that classic cosmic warrior aesthetic. The second image highlights his signature rock transformation feature, showing the textured, stone like sculpt wrapping over his body with rounded, boulder inspired forms that echo the vintage collapsing rock gimmick. You can see the layered sculpt work in the rocky shell, along with a glimpse of the internal mechanism that hints at the action feature fans have been waiting to see recreated in Origins scale.

Granita Tease
According to the Wiki Grayskull, “Granita and her brother Rokkon were raised by their wise mentor and leader Stonedar on the planet Geolon until it was destroyed by Horde Prime. Although the Comet Warriors were scattered in space, Granita followed Stonedar, who had saved their precious Sun Stone and with it led them to the safety of another planet: Eternia. Upon landing, Granita was horrified to learn the Horde were in the process of invading. While Rokkon was eager to fight as always, Granita believed that higher powers had intended them to help spare Eternia from the same fate as Geolon.

Her faith persuaded the pacifist Stonedar to choose to fight alongside the Eternians. After the Second Ultimate Battleground, Glimmer invited Granita and many of the Comet Warriors’ youth to Etheria where they could access Crystal World and develop new forms and powers. Alongside the Star Sisters and Queen Zal of Zal-Kron, Granita defended the barrier from Shadow Weaver and others seeking to steal Crystal World’s magic. Later, Stonedar named Granita as his successor to lead their people.”

MOTU Classics Granita
Released in 2018 as part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line, Granita is a Heroic Comet Combatant from the She-Ra and the Princess of Power Filmation cartoon from the 1980’s.

Granita’s bio reads: “Granita and her brother Rokkon were raised by their wise mentor and leader Stonedar on the planet Geolon until it was destroyed by Horde Prime. Alongside the Star Sisters and Queen Zal of Zal-Kron, Granita defended the barrier from Shadow Weaver and others seeking to steal Crystal World’s magic. Later, Stonedar named Granita as his successor to lead their people.”

He transforms into a comet, like Rokkon and Stonedar, but the figure can be displayed as a standalone with out the rock peices.

Granita MOTU Origins Concept
It is not a slam dunk that Granita will make it into the MOTU Origins line but if she shares tooling with Rokkon (or Stonedar), then this would make it more likely. The figure concept pictured below is a digital render from the talented Eternal Customs! If Granita was made into a figure, we would likely see a design similar to this one but with the commet peices from Rokkon to attach to her arms and legs.

To imagine what she could like, Barbarossa Customs created a vintage Granita MOTU figure concept, which might be a likely candidate for the figure design for the MOTU Origins line. Granita has been created using the cartoon rendition as the key reference and infusing it with and modifying the style to meet the aesthetics of the vintage MOTU toy line. She fits in perfectly with her rocky compatriots, Stonedar and Rokkon and finally completes the trio of rock/comet warriors.

Resembling Stonedar and Rokkon from the Masters of the Universe vintage line, Barbarossa says, “This figure’s details, weapon, action feature and choice of colors have all been executed with vintage sensibilities keenly in mind. Granita comes sealed on a custom card with multiple pieces of original art. Uniquely-created and hand-crafted by the artist, this is a very limited run for the adult collector.”

With Rokkon (and Stonedar) coming to the MOTU Origins line, Granita would make a welcome addition!

Stonedar previous teases
The first time we saw a tease for Stonedar was on the Eternia box art!

The second time we saw Stonedar was on the card back art for the Mattel Creations exclusive of Rokkon! You would have missed it, if you didn’t look carefully enough, but there a tease for Stonedar on the back of the card back art! In fact, we did miss it and thanks to Chris M., a MOTU fan and collector from Germany, for emailing us and alerting to this tease that paid homage to a historic version of Stonedar.

Looking very similar to Rokkon, Roy did include a figure tease to Stonedar on the card back, paying homage to the original artwork by Earl Norem shown below.

Stonedar Vintage Figure
He is often accompanied by his young friend Rokkon. The pair were like transforming MOTU figures but instead turning into something cool, they turned into rocks, which reminds me of that part in the movie Big where a toy company produces a Transformer that turns into a building!

Stonedar is the leader of the Rock People. The character appeared late in the 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line, and as such appears in relatively few stories, with little consistency.
