Snarf Thundercats Ultimates Super7 In Hand Review

Snarf Snarf… Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose! We finally have gotten Lion-o’s best friend, nurse maid and companion Snarf in the Thundercats Super7 Ultimates line! We can’t believe it has taken this long to see him but boy are we thrilled! Pessimistic, brave but clumsy, and always loyal, Snarf is one of my favorite characters from Thundercats, and I’m so pleased to add him to my collection. The alternate heads and varying accessories really make him a joy to display with my Thundercats collection! So without further ado, we bring you this Snarf Thundercats Ultimates Super7 In Hand Review!

I just love how you can pose Snarf in so many dynamic ways from his tail that helps him stand upright, to the alternate heads he comes with, it’s just brilliant! I just love how he can hold the Sword of Omens in his mouth, how freakin’ cute is that?!

Part of what makes Super7 Ultimates, the “Ultimate” version of an action figure is their packaging! These ThunderCats figures come in fantastic packaging which includes a beautiful slipcover that hides a spectacular figure within! Let’s take a look at each of the different parts of the packaging.

Slip Cover

Just like the other Super7 Ultimates figures, the package design includes a slipcover with a very simple design, but that is brilliantly executed. The slipcover is jet black with a very reflective red ThunderCats symbol! Then there is a small cut out near the name of the figure that sets the title off. On the back there is a large beautiful Thundercats logo.

Inner Box

The most exciting part of opening a Super7 Ultimates figures is that moment when you slide the slip cover off to reveal the window display with the figure and amazing pack out of weapons and accessories inside the box! The slipcover hides another ThunderCats logo above the name of the figure and then you can clearly see everything that Snarf comes with! Also behind Snarf is that classic white burst that was used on vintage LJN ThunderCats cardbacks back in the 80’s. The back of the box features an amazing ThunderCats illustration of Snarf and a bio that reads:

Snarf Osbert, or “Snarf” as he prefers to be known, was young Lion-o’s nurse-maid. After Lion-O grew up on the way to Third Earth, Snarf remained his devoted caregiver, sometimes much to Lion-O’s chagrin. While Snarf can be pessimistic, and lacks the skills of a warrior, he can also be brave and agile when necessary. Honorable, true, just and loyal, Snarf embodies the code of Thundera, but he adds a compassion all his own.

Pack Out

Snarf’s weapons and accessories are neatly organized in layered plastic clamshell packs that keep them free from movement. With the size of pedestal, Super7 had to do a secondary plastic shell that sits behind the figure to house the large accessory and the extra sets of hands.

Figure Details

Snarf has some really great sculpting from his facial expressions to the fur on his body, for such a small figure, Super7 did a great job capturing his classic look! Here you can see him from all four sides with the basic stoic expression head on. As you can see he has articulation at his head, elbows, wrists, tail, knees, and feet, which is alot for such a small little guy!

Snarf comes packed with 2 alternate tail ends, so you can pose him either standing up on his tail or have him standing on his feet with his tail out.

It’s so much fun to pose Snarf with Lion-O, as they are best friends and life long companions!

He comes packed with 2 additional alternate head sculpts, so beside the stoic expression, you get a smiling face and a more determined open mouth expression.

The open mouth expression is cool because he can hold the Sword of Omens in his mouth!

Snarf comes packed with a ton of accessories that make posing him so much fun! As we mentioned above, you get 2 additional alternate heads, 2 additional pairs of expressive hands, a grey satchel, a piece of Berbils candy fruit, an alternate tail, Sword of Owens in closed form, and a Claw Shield.

Snarf in Thundercats Cartoon

Snarf, who’s real name is Osbert, was a supporting character in the Rankin and Bass 1980’s cartoon series, but boy was he comic relief and the center of many plots! Snarf provided that comic relief we all needed for some of the more serious plot lines in the cartoon series, and was always watching over Lion-O as he was his nurse-maid when he was a young kitten.

Snarf Thundercats Cartoon

According to the Thundercats Ho Wiki:

Snarf (or “Snarf Osbert”) is of the Snarf species and was Lion-O’s nurse-maid as a child (and as an adult much to Lion-O’s chagrin). His nephew Snarfer calls him “Uncle Osbert”. Entrusted with the care of the young Lion-O, Snarf often thinks of himself as the oldest member of the group. Although Snarf is an excessive worrier and something of a pessimist, his courage and loyalty is as evident as any full-sized ThunderCat’s, particularly when defending Lion-O. At the start of the series, Snarf often complained about how he is ignored by the others, as well as having nothing important to do now that the young lord Lion-O has grown into an adult. But as the series goes on, Snarf proved to be just as much of a ThunderCat as the others. He is also more understanding than most of the other Thundercats, as he once pointed out to the ThunderCats how wrong it was for them to be angry with WilyKit and WilyKat after they confessed to releasing Mongor by mistake.

Snarf has few abilities, but one of his more notable abilities is to communicate with animals. He is notably the cook for the ThunderCats preparing most food for them.Due to his small size, Snarf is rather nimble and can squeeze through tight areas that no else can. This helps a lot whenever the Thundercats need to sneak into the Black Pyramid or whenever the Cats’ Lair is invaded. Whenever the ThunderCats are captured, Snarf is usually the one who frees them or gets them back their weapons. In “Hair of the Dog”, Snarf was captured by Mumm-Ra, who then disguised Ma-Mutt as Snarf so that he could infiltrate the Cats’ Lair. The day was saved when Snarf invoked the Ancient Spirits of Evil to not only restore his original form, but turn him into “Snarf-Ra, the Ever Living”, giving him size, strength, and power beyond Mumm-Ra’s.

Snarf’s sculpt really captures his anxious look as we’ve seen so many times in the cartoon! He also comes with an alternate head sculpt that captures a more joyous look! He comes with an extra set of hands, his trusty satchel, and a pink egg with red stripes.
