Tis the Con season and Walmart just released the date for their semiannual Walmart Collector Con and it’s set to start on July 18, 2023. This event is an online preorder fest for a multitude of toy lines but we are most excited about potential MOTU, WWE Superstars and GI Joe Classified Series preorders. Let’s take a look at what would be going up preorder over this two day event dubbed Walmart Collector Con. They do have a sneak peak coming on July 12, 2023 so let’s hope some (if not all) of these figures listed below go up for preorder.

We can confirm that there will be new Masters of the Universe, Star Wars Black Series, GI Joe Classified Series figures dropping thanks to a leaks and announcements from Hasbro.

Crimson Alley Viper

The Crimson Alley Viper is a redeco of the first vintage coloring Alley Viper and it’s amazing to see more Crimson figures added to the line.

The weapons pack out is the same as the v1 GI Joe Classified Series release and the red and grays make this figure look like an urban soldier.

Night Force Shooter

The Night Force Shooter is a brand new character but pays homage to her previous figure that we saw in the line in the 50th Anniversary line.

She comes with 2 alternate head sculpts plus a gaggle of weapons and it’s amazing to see her join the Night Force line!

Jodie “Shooter” Craig, was released in the GI Joe 50th Anniversary Special Forces 3-pack along with Outback and Falcon. The interesting thing about this pack was it looked like a Night Force 3-pack but it was not labeled as such!

Shooter’s bio reads:

“Pulling the trigger is the next to last thing JODIE “SHOOTER” CRAIG does as an expert marksman. First, she might take days to move into a shooting position, progressing by inches. Then she remains motionless in the hide, waiting for the target to appear. Star Wars Black Series Jedi Legend Obi-Wan and Force Spirit Qui-Gon Jinn

Force Spirit Qui-Gon Jin

Rumored Preorders

The list below contains figures from WWE Superstars, GI Joe Classified Series, and Masters of the Universe that could potentially go up for preorder.

MOTU Origins Duplico

Walmart has added a new callout on their Collector Con previews that states, “Shop all Collector Con new releases, 7/18 and 7/19, 7am PST.” Yesterday, Duplico did not have this callout and he is not listed as a preview figure but this clue leads us to believe that he will be going up for preorder either on 7/18 or 7/19. If you look at other non-Collector Con toys, they do not have this callout so it’s highly likely that MOTU Origins Duplico will be going up for sale during Walmart Collector Con.

WWE Superstars

Big Van Vader, Captain Lou Albano, Mr. Perfect, and Bam Bam Bigelow

It was only back in April 2023 when Big Van Vader and Captain Lou Albano were revealed for the WWE Superstars line. Flash forward to the end of May and we’ve discovered the Walmart product pages for these upcoming figures. WWE Superstars Series 6 was only revealed a few days ago so and we discovered the Walmart listings for Mr. Perfect and Bam Bam Bigelow. We are guessing that Vader and Albano make up the start of Series 7 and could be going up for preorder for Walmart Collector Con. Although we discovered the product pages on Walmart’s website (see below), they have pulled the listings from their database, which we suspect is a sign they will be going up for preorder and did not expect anyone to discover them.

Captain Lou Albano

Captain Lou Albano is dressed in his yellow and black shirt on the front of the card and you can see the Captain Lou shirt peeking through. On the back of the card, it has his famous sayings, “Often imitated but never duplicated, “I’m Captain Lou and I’m talking to you!,” and “I’m a legend in my own mind.”

He comes with his soft goods shirt and pants, his signature gold chain, a breakaway gold record, and an extra set of hands.

Captain Lou looks amazing from all angles!

You can see him holding his gold record and it’s just waiting to be broken!

Big Van Vader

Vader is packed with his fabric cape on, paying homage to his classic look! He also has his infamous sayings on the back which include, “It’s Vader time, “The Mastodon,” and I fear no man…I feel no pain.”

He comes with his fabric cape and extra hands (gloved and ungloved).

He looks fantastic with his cape on and this adds to the displayability of the figure!

The Vader mask came out great and it is sculpted into his head so you can’t remove it (but why would you??).

Walmart has added more images of Mr. Perfect and Bam Bam Bigelow from the WWE Superstars line. Back in May 2023, WWE.com released some official images of Mr. Perfect and Bam Bam Bigelow but it appears that they did not reveal the full set of images. This wave also includes WWE legends Rowdy Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan as part of Series 6, which are shared with WWE Superstars Big Van Vader and Captain Lou Albano as we discovered when their official images were revealed.

Mr. Perfect

Mr. Perfect’s card front and back are…ABSOLUTELY PERFECT (I bet you saw that one coming!). The card features his classic pose and smug look and the back of the card has his signature saying, “Nobody beats Mr. Perfect! NOBODY!” His signature pin move was the Perfect Plex and it’s great to see the back of the card pay homage to him.

Mr. Perfect comes with his lime green tank top, his towel, a black Intercontinental Championship Belt, and extra hands.

Bam Bam Bigelow

Bam Bam’s card front and back feature a cool pose showing off his tattoos with some sayings on the back of the card like “Beast from the East,” Greetings from Ashbury Park,” and “If you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.”

He features his classic wrestling attire with a soft goods shirt and extra hands.

GI Joe Classified Series

Shadow Tracker and Night Force Shockwave are rumored to be going up for preorder for Walmart Con July 2023.

Night Force Shockwave

Night Force Shockwave(v2) was released carded as part of the eighth series in 1989 as in a Toys R Us exclusive in a Night Force two-pack with Lightfoot (v2).

Shadow Tracker

Shadow Tracker came from the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line in 2011 and he is a rather odd character choice but if his Classified Series sculpt is anything like his figure, he will be the most unique one on the line! His bio reads:

SHADOW TRACKER works for COBRA as a wilderness hunter and guide. Scorning conventional firearms, he uses traditional weapons from around the world. He tracks his prey using primal instinct: He hears the dark whispers of the jungle, senses distant footfalls in the earth and tastes his victim’s fear in the wind.

Generaljoesreborn has a fantastic review of Shadow Tracker and a nice summary of the new character that was added to the line:

First of all, Shadow Tracker has a distinct advantage…I love new characters, and Shadow Tracker is a new character. He’s a Cobra tracking specialist and jungle operative, which is something we’ve seen surprisingly little of in Cobra’s thirty year history. Now, within a couple of months we not only have the first mass release “Jungle Viper” but we also have a Cobra Tracker. But he’s not just a Cobra Tracker, he’s a completely bad ass looking Cobra tracker who oozes personality in a way that only the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero universe can provide. This is something that G.I. Joe has always been able to do, for whatever reason. The way Hasbro can perfectly meld a straight-line military line with a fantastical science fiction element never ceases to amaze me, and Shadow Tracker walks that line to perfection. But, none of this means anything if the figure isn’t any good, and trust me, this figure is great above and beyond his cool history.

Shadow Tracker – General Joes Reborn

Regarding the figure:

Beyond the theory and mythology, though, you have a toy. And the fun value of that toy will impact the rest of it more than anything else…Shadow Tracker is quite simply an awesome toy. Even underneath all of that gear, Cobra’s Wilderness expert has some excellent detailing, incredibly smooth articulation and some insane paint apps. His elbow joints actually bend the full 90 degrees many figures cannot achieve, he’s got the great pivot wrists, and even though his legs are sculpted like one piece legs (without those joint disguising kneepads) his double-jointed knees work without flaw. And his head? His head sculpt is simply insane. The wild mane of dreadloks spirals from underneath a semi-translucent hockey mask which gives the character an absolutely evil, insidious look about him. The figure is obviously at least somewhat inspired by the Devils’ Due Skullbuster, I believe, but it takes that design aesthetic and totally runs with it. Upon first glance, it almost looks like his mask is removable, but take Twink Viper’s advice and don’t do it.

Like every other figure in the Wave 4 assortment, the accessories are really where it’s at, and Shadow Tracker is loaded. He comes with a pretty simple vest, nicely colored and detailed just right. His compound bow was first seen with the TRU Exclusive Spirit, and he comes with the quiver and extra arrow as well. Where Shadow Tracker excels is with the bladed weapons. As a Cobra “hunter” he comes fully equipped with some of the nastiest knives I’ve ever seen in the 3 3/4″ scale, and with his pivot wrists, he can hold them very nicely. If there is a downside to all of these accessories, it’s that he cannot hold them all, though he does have a great sheath on the back of his vest and a hole in the side of his leg where one of his knives can be stored.

Masters of the Universe

Moss Man

Moss Man has been a known Walmart exclusive ever since the MOTU Press event back in October 2022. MOTU Origins fans have been asking for Moss Man for the longest time, and now our requests have been answered but with a slight twist. We are finally getting a freakin’ FLOCKED MOSS MAN in the MOTU Origins line and we personally cannot be more excited!! After all this time, I have been waiting for Moss Man to join the Origins line, and in the Fall of 2023. When this was announced at the presser event, it was announced that he will be a wait for it…..Walmart exclusive! The Lord of the Forests pine smelling friend will only be available through Walmart.

Moss Man will be a deluxe figure give that he will be fully flocked, come with an alternate LOP Style Beast Man head. Mossy’s head looks to be based on the Beast Man head, but he is much more friendlier looking with a big smile on his face looking very Filmation like! They nailed it with this head sculpt! He will also include his vintage style club, yellow Beast Man armor as an homage to those that used to put this weapons pack armor on their Mossy’s, and also a brown Pig Head club as well.

This is one of the most widely anticipated releases for the Origins line, so we are excited to see the package design, the art, and the figure and creature teases! Speaking of teases, there are a few Masters of the Universe Classics teases in this art plus teases pointing to a wide Powers of Grayskull line. Could we see the Powers of Grayskull line coming in 2024 with the release of the Eternia playset? We sure hope so! The packaging for Moss Man looks incredible as Mattel is really cranking it up with this special edition release. This is said to be a Walmart exclusive, Roy Juarez states in his Instagram post that this will be “in Walmarts”, which makes us a little concerned. Will this be available only in store? Walmart’s distribution is not the best and not all stores receive the same product. Or will our pine smelling friend be available online? Little to nothing is known at the moment about how Moss Man will be available to purchase.

Package Design

In Roy’s words, “It’s packaging time! Here’s a special preview of the Collectors Edition “flocked” Moss Man packaging exclusively in Walmart. This Heroic Spy & Master of Camouflage has moss-like fur, and smells like pine!”

Moss Man’s packaging is absolutely stunning, with a beautiful scene within a lush forest complete with waterfalls and in the background yes, it is Eternia! So this scene is taking place in none other than in Preternia! We are just over the moon about how beautifully gorgeous this packaging is! We have been waiting Moss Man for so long and they really did this gentle pine smelling friend of the forest justice with this incredible packaging! Let’s dive in and take a close look at Moss Man’s packaging!

Moss Man looks just incredible inside the packaging! His pack out is beautifully laid out! You can see his brown curved spiked mace and club on one side, and his yellow armor on the other. The curved spiked mace of course is a reuse of Pig Head’s weapon. And the club has been used for several characters like Clawful and Kamo Khan most recently. The yellow armor is an homage to the vintage weapons pack, that came with a set of yellow Beast Man armor, and people used to put this on their Moss Man figures. I think it’s wonderful how Mattel honored that fan made tradition through this figure releases!

Art and Illustrations

Moss Man comes in a gorgeous collector’s edition box, similar to that of Eternian Palace Guard window box. This is just stunningly beautiful art work covering every square inch of the packaging featuring our pine smelly furry friend, and a ton of figure and creature teases which we can’t wait to get into! The artistic team of @manuel_eduardo_caritas, @axel.gimenez and @fetch.franciscoetchart did a spectacular job with this artwork! Gonna have to pick up several of these to keep in the collection! There is a whole forest scene going on with prehistoric creatures, all sorts of trees and vines, and a ton of new character sprinkled throughout.

Front and Side Box Art

The front of the box features a stunning prehistoric forest scene with several figure and creature teases. The art wraps around the top flap, front and sides of the packaging. Here we can see the entire panel of images. On the side panel there is a figure tease of Gigantisaur, an unreleased creature from the cancelled 1988 Powers of Grayskull line. You can see Thunder Punch He-Man coming out of the dinosaur’s belly. We will discuss him further below. We also get another tease on the center panel which occurs on the top flap of the package. Flying toward that large Sequoia is none other than Turbodactyl, who was also originally released in 1987 also under the Powers of Grayskull subline! Also that is no ordinary Seqouia tree, if you look closely there is a face on that tree, and it is Sky Tree! Sky tree is a character from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and is the oldest tree on Eternia! In the left panel below, we can see Moss Man front and center, but who is the blue creature standing behind him? That is of course is Red Shadow, yes which I know he is blue, but that is his name. We discuss Red Shadow further below as well. Of course off in the distance is Eternia as this scene is taking place in no other than Preternia!!

Rear Box Art

The rear of the package is a stunning full color illustration of the entire rear of the package with Moss Man poking out of a ferny bush, fully armored up, mace in hand! He is looking over two new foes. There os a beautiful redish orange Eternian sunset sky in the background. Standing in the distance are Nepthu in Snake Form, and

Masters of the Universe 40th Anniversary Press & Influencer Day Reveals

Moss Man is one of He-man’s closest allies, the ever so gentle friend of the forest, Mossman! As his name reveals, he is a man made of moss, who can camouflage himself into foliage and other green vegetation, as well as control all plant life. The figure is essentially a green repaint of Beast Man, flocked with “moss” with the fangs painted over and a pine scent added to the body. He has a mace that is a recast of a weapon from the original Castle Grayskull.

We first saw Moss Man on Stinkor’s card back where he looked like he was emerging from the bushes to take on the evil warrior with the power of stink! You an see him with a fierce look on his face, armed with his mace and ready for battle!

If you weren’t paying attention, you might have missed the arm coming out of the ground from the side of the Eternian Palace Guard box with the classic mace busting through the ground. We then saw Moss Man on the Flying Fists He-Man card art, ironically holding a torch, and as well all know, it was fire that did him in the Masters of the Universe Revelation Netflix series, but I am sure this battle turned out great for him!
