Thanks to our Toy Habits “Mega” trusted source, we received a leaked list, which included a list of playsets and multipacks with release dates, so now we can confirm the Masters of the Universe Origins upcoming Multipacks and Playset Assortments for 2023! Of course, as you know, Mattel reserves the right to change figure assortment and dates at any time, but and this is the most up to date information we have. There are no official images yet (aside from a few images from Toy Fair Germany) so we are using stand-ins for now but let’s take a look at the 2023 MOTU Origins Multipacks & Playsets Confirmed list below!
***SPOILER ALERT***, IF YOU DON”T WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS ON THIS LEAKED LIST FOR THE MULTIPACKS AND PLAYSETS, DON’T READ ANY FUTHER!!! Who are we kidding, of course you wanna know!

Multi-Pack Assortment
The following characters to be part of the next set of Multi-Packs with release dates below.
- Skeletor & Screech 2 Pack – July 2023
- Snake Men 4 Pack – Oct 2023
- Skeleton Warriors 2 Pack – Oct 2023
Skeletor and Screech 2-Pack
Our previous leak that a Skeletor & Screech 2 pack was coming to the MOTU Origins line in 2023 is now confirmed and set to be released in July 2023! Screeech was the robotic bird that Skeletor sent out to spy on the Heroic Warriors. Screech too came from existing tooling from the 1972 eagle from the Big Jim Line. Released in 1983, the large bird’s color scheme was molded after the colors of the Filmation cartoon, blue and purple. Screech too had a button on his back that activated the flight mode and made the wings flap up and down. We already have Teela with Zoar, so it is just natural that we would get Skeletor and Screech! Teela was a repaint variant, so it will be exciting to see if Skelly gets a refresh in this pack as well!
Vintage Gift Set
Skeletor and Screeech were released as a 2-Pack gift set in the 1980’s so it is apropos that they would get the same treatment in Origins. Although we are not excited to get yet another Skeletor figure, the news of Screeech is fantastic!

Screeech has been teased on several box and card arts plus, given how Zoar turned out, this bird will look exactly like the vintage figure!

Skeleton Warrior Card Art Teases:
Screech was first spotted on the Panthor package artwork flying in the background over Skeletor’s shoulder.

The second and most recent iteration of Screech was illustrated on the Origins Stridor package artwork. He is swopping in for the attack and Dragon Blaster Skeletor can be seen swooping in from behind!

Skeletor & Screeech 2-Pack Leak
We first heard about this leak from a UK toy site but they since have removed the listings so all we have is the product page for these ones, which were leaked back in December 2022.
Snake Men 4-Pack
We previously covered a leak that there would be a Snake Men 4-Pack coming to the MOTU Origins Line and the Snake Men 4-Pack is an exciting addition to the MOTU Origins line. Given that 2023 will be the year of the Snake Men, a 4 pack is just what King Hiss (we mean The Doctor) ordered!
Snake Men 4-Pack Concepts
We have no idea what they would do with a set of 4 figures but we have some ideas! Our first idea comes from inspiration from the MOTU Classics line where they released a Snake Men 2-Pack.

It’s conceivable that Mattel could create a set of 4 Snake Men borrowing from the MOTU Classics figures that were released already. The concept below is a mashup of customs mixed in with the MOTU Classics 2-Pack.

Snake Trooper Repaint 4-Pack
We just learned that the Snake Trooper was officially confirmed to be part of the Wave 13 assortment. Now we are not sure of is these will be a 4 Pack of different colored Snake Troopers, or all new Snake Men.
This is an image of the Snake Trooper set to be released as part of wave 13. But at the 2022 SDCC Eternia display, we saw a variety of what looked to be custom Snake Men, or were they?
Could they combine a number of existing Snake Men parts from Rattlor, Kobra Khan, Tung Lashor and Kamo Khan to make a cool Snake-Men 4 pack? Below you can see a photo from SDCC with some of those ” Custom” Snake Men!

A 4 Pack of Snake Troopers would be cool as they are an army builder character and you would want a bucnh of them. This would make sense in that the rear artwork drawn and illustrated by Axel Giménez & FETCH Francisco Etchart show an amazing scene of Thunder Punch He-Man going at it against two Snake Men Horde Troopers! And you can also spot Viper Tower way in the back ground! It would be so amazing to get some Snake Men themed army builders! WE could also see other new Snake Men join the line as the these Snake Troopers might be coming out as single carded figures, according to this leak!
Snake Troopers History and Leak
The result of a fusion between Snake Men Soldiers and the technology of the Horde Troopers, the Snake Trooper would be another figure that Mattel could easily create as they mostly use the Horde Trooper buck with a new head.

The Snake Troopers were introduced in a three pack that was inspired by the unreleased 1988 vintage concept wave. The price per set that year was $165.00, and surprisingly, it is still available at the Big Bad Toy Store. Here are the promo pics and also the final product from 2019:

Skeleton Warriors 2 Pack
As we covered in our Wun-Dar Card Art Teases New MOTU Origins Characters article, we predicted that these cool glowing army builders were going to come to the MOTU Origins line. Now thanks to our confirmed leaked list, we now know that the Skeleton Warriors are set to be leased as a 2-Pack in October 2023!! Just like Mekaneck and the Road Ripper, these little glowing army builders made their silent debut at the huge Eternia Playset display at 2022 SDCC! There was no big splashy panel announcing these guys, so they quietly sat in the corner looking oh so cool with no fan fair to greet them.
Pixel Dan did a follow up interview at SDCC with Mattel’s MOTU Brand Manager Josh Graham, and he officially confirmed that the Skeleton Warriors the Eternia Playset display were indeed real and not custom figures. Josh confirmed that these Skeleton Warriors are indeed coming to MOTU Origins in 2023 and that there will be plenty available so that you can army build your Skeleton Warriors! But thanks to this leaked list and Pixel Dan’s interview, we now have confirmation and MOTU Origins Skeleton Warriors are officially confirmed to be coming to the line in 2023! So our prediction was correct, and this is super exciting news! You can watch that interview here: Mattel MOTU 40th Anniversary Product Interview at SDCC 2022
These Skeleton Warriors look absolutely amazing! They have a light green bone color so I hope that means that they might be glow in the dark?! They are outfitted in Viking Style helmets, and purple and black chest armor with yellow bat symbols on their chest. They are wearing purple battle armor skirting with black belts and black monster type feet. They are equipped with bright green spears and green swords, like the one that came from the Castle Grayskull weapons rack and was also packed with Wun-Dar.
Skeleton Warriors Leak
We first heard about this leak from a UK toy site but they since have removed the listings so all we have is the product page for these ones, which were leaked back in December 2022.
Skeleton Warrior Card Art Teases:
We first saw the appearance of the mysterious green glowing skeleton warriors on the front of the Masters of the Universe Origins Castle Grayskull box art. They were emerging out of the ground by Evil Lyn, Tri-Klops and Ram Man, coming back from the dead and on the attack! They are sporting glowing Viking Helmets, spears, swords and shield. These characters have yet to be made into action figure form, but how cool would it be to get glow in the dark versions!!!

We next saw the glowing green skeletons appear battling the Man At Arms and the Eternian Palace guards on the 2021 Eternian Palace Guard Royal Defender Master of the Universe Origins Packaging art wheedling swords and axes and spears, shown on the front and side of the package! And we also get hint at some vines and Moss Man’s hand coming out of the ground.

On the Wun-Dar comic card back art and the “Lost Legend” comic, Wun-Dar is depicted battling these Viking Horned Helmet Glowing green skeletons and they freakin amazing!! Here seen in the comic below, again they are emerging out of the ground from the un-dead, just like they were from the Origins Castle Grayskull package and the Eterian Palace Guard artwork.

Playset Assortment
We have placed an image of the leaked list with the confirmed Playsets, plus their release dates below! Thanks again to our Toy Habits “Mega” trusted source for the information!

The following playsets are coming to the MOTU Origins line along with their release dates below.
- The Talon Fighter & Point Dread – July 2023
- Snake Mountain – Oct 2023
The Talon Fighter and Point Dread
Jay from Geek Dad Life went above and beyond to capture verbal details of the upcoming MOTU Origins Talon Fighter and Point Dread from Toy Fair Germany so we are in his debt and super grateful for the opportunity to share this info with you (with Jay’s permission of course). We are indebted to them for giving us permission to post this news and if you have not subscribed to their YouTube Channel, they are amazing so please do so! Here is what we know about the Talon Fighter and Point Dread thus far:
- The canopy does have a window that is tinted and made of dark gray plastic
- Controls are similar to the Wind Raider and seats two figures
- The blue satellite dish was present plus an alternate silver attachment that almost took up the top half of Point Dread
- Point Dread attaches to the top of the castle via pegs and it had an additional peg hole.
- Castle Grayskull can handle both Point Dread and the Wind Raider on top

Special thanks to the one and only Mega Jay Retro and My Buddy’s Customs for alerting us that the Mattel EMEA posted a short video on their LinkedIn page from Toy Fair Germany in Nuremberg and deep within this video was a teaser for the new updated MOTU Origins Snake Mountain and you can see a glimpse of the Talon Fighter! In the images below, you can clearly see the beak of the Talon Fighter next to the Woman’s elbow! You can see the orangey yellow beak and red eye painted on the Talon Fighter’s head! It’s real folks and it’s coming to the Origins line!! Super exciting stuff!!! Here is an up close zoomed in shot and you can get a look at the red beady eyes! We can’t wait to see the full Talon Fighter revealed (and Point Dread) so this will have to tide us over until then.

Talon Fighter and Point Dread History
The Talon Fighter and Point Dread has always been a fan favorite, and one of my personal favorites I must say! I always loved how you can seat He-man and one of his friends in the Eagle shaped plane and always loved the bright orange and blue color scheme that made it look so cool! I thought that the radar dish on top was a cool feature so that He-Man can communicate with his friends, because back then, they didn’t have cell phones! But besides looking cool, the Talon Fighter and Point Dread always had a mysterious feeling behind them, because of the mystical lore that is tied to their story. According to the Masters of the Universe Character Compendium Volume 1:
Mysterious Point Dread was a stone structure of magical might. A mystical location appearing on the face of Eternia every twenty years. The powerful 2 man Talon Fighter, rests atop it’s outpost. Skeletor once endangered all of Eternia by tapping into Point Dread’s power, but the Goddess spirited the entire structure away to Castle Grayskull, merging it with the mystic strongholdMasters of the Universe Character Compendium Volume 1 pg 589
According to the Wiki Grayskull, “The Toy was packaged as Frontier Outpost Point Dread and Flying Talon Fighter! Point Dread was a one-room base with the same gray-green, rocky exterior as Castle Grayskull and a “perch” on top for the Talon Fighter. Point Dread’s upper half could be removed and placed atop one of the towers of the Grayskull playset, allowing the Talon Fighter to rest atop Grayskull as shown in the minicomics. The Talon Fighter toy itself had a yellow-orange hull, a blue canopy and red-orange wings and “claw” landing gear. There was also a version of the toy on which a book-and record set was included, with one story on each side of a 7-inch vinyl record and a read-along storybook in comic format.”

Below we can see the vintage Talon Fighter and Point Dread. The Falcon shaped fighter had a gorgeous color scheme and allowed 2 characters to sit inside. It was adorned with stickers on the interior to look like controls and had landing gear shaped like a bird’s talons, how cool is that? Complete with a perch to sit your Talon Fighter, it sat atop Point Dread, a green colored craggily rock formation that matched Castle Grayskull and attached perfectly to its tower.
The Talon Fighter and Point Dread were featured in several mini comics, as well as the 1980s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. The most famous of the mini comics being “The Power of Point Dread”, which came with an accompanying record, so you can listen along to the story! That is a photo of my personal copy below and yes, I still have the vinyl record with it!

Talon Fighter & Point Dread Card Art Teases
We first spotted the Talon Fighter and Point Dread on Zodak’s card back artwork. It was perched far in the distance atop a bed of clouds with the silhouette of an Eternian planet behind it. This was a subtle hint at the bird shaped fighter.

The next time we spot the Talon Fighter and Point Dread, is not so subtle, but totally in our face! It was featured ever so proudly sitting on top Castle Grayskull on the beautiful card back artwork for the 2021 Mattel Creations exclusive Mini Comic Tri-klops! Could this be a huge hint from Mattel? Oh pretty please!! I would love to get an Origins version of this regal bird fighter jet!

Snake Mountain
Snake Mountain has got to be the most exciting reveal on our confirmed leaked list, as we all knew it was coming from the Mattel 40th Anniversary Presser Event last October. At the time it was revealed, it looks partly unfinished as the colors were still off and the snake looked to be a prototype in the throws of being worked out. Well now thanks to Jay from Geek Dad Life who attend the German Toy Fair, we know have some details of what the upcoming MOTU Origins Snake Mountain will look like. Again we are in his debt and super grateful for the opportunity to share this info with you.
- Jay got to touch it and play with it
- The updated Snake Mountain has the colors of the vintage release
- The bridge looks cool
- Mind blown moment for Jay: The chains are famous for breaking and they made them super rubbery. Jay thought this was a brilliant engineering choice
- The snake is perfect and is bigger…it’s bigger…more mechanical…it’s positioned perfect
- The additional gate topper
- No functioning mic
- There is a new ledge to place figures on
Again in that Mattel EMEA short video, you can clearly see the updated MOTU Origins Snake Mountain and it looks amazing!!! The colors, like Jay from Geek Dad Life pointed out, are corrected and it looks more like the vintage version. The Snake is also a better color and looks to be in the correct place. Between Castle Grayskull and the Snake Mountain you can also see the front end of the Talon Fighter and part of the cockpit!

Snake Mountain Reveal
Again, another long-awaited fan favorite was revealed today as well! After all this time, we are finally getting a Snake Mountain in the MOTU Origins line! Pictured here was a prototype of Snake Mountain, but so far it looks to be really cool and loaded with brand new play features! There needs to be some more tweaking to the snake design and coloring of the mountain in the front, but what they unveiled today looks so exciting! Let’s take a look at all the goodies it has to offer. At first glance, we can see that they have added the mountain peak to the design so that it resembles the Snake Mountain from the Filmation cartoon a little more closely, but the design still retains those signature features from the vintage playset we all know and love! The classic monster face is still sculpted into the front of the mountain and includes a working jaw. We still have that fun suspension bridge, but this time it looks to have widened so that it can be walkable for your figures! It leads to steps that go up to the gate of Snake Mountain which has that classic wolfs head on the gate. And inside is a ladder similar to that one of Castle Grayskull The cave is also still present near the bottom as well.

On the inside we have the wolf speaker but does not include electronics associated with it and instead we got added play features on the inside. We have for the first time in Origins, Skeletor’s bone throne! We also get an all-new weapons rack as well. And next to the rotatable wolf and bone throne is a trap door that leads to a jail cell., so no more safety net to fall into. The coolest part of this new Snake Mountain in my opinion is the new “Acid Lake”. which has 3D removable creatures into that attach to pegs. It turns out that these pegs work in the peg holes of the torso of the Origins figures, so you can detach you figures at the torso and place them on the lake, so it looks like they are sinking inside! How fun is that??? Snake Mountain is set to be released in the Fall of 2023. You can view more photos that Planet Eternia posted in their detailed article.

Snake Mountain Vintage Set
Home to Skeletor and his bumbling henchman, Snake Mountain is the pinnacle of the Evil Warriors home when it comes to the world of Masters of the Universe. The famous Snake wrapped mountain with it’s glistening eye, as seen on the Filmation cartoon is the main location where Skeletor cooks up all evil plans to get He-Man once and for all.

Skeletor seen here with Evil Lyn and Beastman spent most of his time ordering his evil warriors around from the comfort of his Bone Throne.

Kids used to come home after school every day and looked forward to watching He-Man battle it out with Skeletor. I’m sure that Castle Grayskull was on the top of every kids wish list in 1982. Well after watching the cartoons, everykid wanted a place for Skelly and his friends to hang out in, so they were all expecting the Snake Mountain we all knew and loved from the Filmation cartoon. Well when Mattel’s Snake mountain debuted in 1984, it was nothing like that cartoon. Rather than designing Snake Mountain to resemble the Filmation cartoon, Mattel opted to use a design they had for an unreleased jungle playset instead.

Mattel tried to make the best of the design by adding a snake face to the mountain and a green snake that popped out from the side, but it wasn’t the Filmation pointy mountain peak, lava waterfall, snake structure we all knew; I’ll tell you that much! Yes, it had a ladder, hand cuffs, a suspension bridge, and even some stairs that were too narrow for your figure to climb up; but it was the Snake Mountain that we got, and we all learned to love it over time.

Source: The Toys of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Where Castle Grayskull had a whole world going on in the inside, Snake Mountain had little to be desired; a sticker, a ladder and a net…. not much going on in there. I mean, Snake Mountain on the cartoon never had a wolf’s head, so where they got the idea for a wolf’s head for the scarry voice microphone, I will never know?! All in all, we MOTU fans still hold the vintage Mattel Snake Mountain near and dear our hearts. With that being said, I know we are all super excited that Mattel is finally going to produce one for Origins!
