Remaining Vintage Figures Still to be Released in MOTU Origins as of Fall 2026

Most of the original vintage MOTU figures have come to the MOTU Origins line, you may be asking yourself, who is left and will we finish off the original vintage action figure characters in the Origins line? There are 10 figures that remain to be made for the Origins line! 7 original figures, one unreleased figure Eldor and the 2 Giants. We know we are getting two of those remaining figures this year as Two Bad and Laser Light Skeletor were both announced at SDCC 2026, with Two Bad being teased for the Mattel Creations exclusive preorder on Sept 23rd. Many of these remaining figures have been teased on various card backs and packaging art. Which one do you want to be released next and which ones do you want most? We take a look at all the remaining characters and analyze what we know about them. Have we seen them teased on art, already revealed, not mentioned at all or just having their trademarks renewed? If you watched Pixel Dan’s SDCC 2026 interview with Mattel’s MOTU Brand Manager Damion, he did elude to the fact that years ago Mattel did promise to finish off the original line of characters just up to the 1987 movie, but they were looking to expand beyond that promise. So will we get the 1987 Movie figures? Only time will tell! In the meantime, let’s revisit the remaining figures to be released!
Confirmed for 2026
Two-Bad is finally coming to Masters of the Universe Origins, and Mattel is already teasing the two-headed villain as its next Mattel Creations exclusive. We saw Two-Bad during the SDCC 2026 MOTU panel, but this latest post means his release is now close enough for Mattel to start talking launch details. The teaser asks whether our collections can handle “twice the terror” and describes a modern refresh of a fan-favorite villain who debuted in the 1980s, so Mattel isn’t exactly trying to hide his identity. I’ve been waiting for Origins to get to Two-Bad, and seeing him this close to release is easily one of the most exciting developments for the line this year. The exclusive launches September 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PT, matching the mysterious MOTU item we previously spotted on the Australian Mattel Creations launch calendar. Club Grayskull members will have exclusive purchasing access through September 24 at 8:59 a.m. PT at MattelCreations.com, while supplies last.
Two-Bad Tease
The tease show’s Tuvar’s fist is finished in dark gray with a metallic silver cuff, while Two Bad’s bright orange shield uses raised circular studs and angular ridges is unmistakable! He is coming ya’ll!
Two-Bad SDCC 2026 Panel Reveal
Too Bad (MOTU Origins) was one of the standout reveals during the panel, earning one of the biggest audience reactions. Mattel confirmed the figure has been completely reworked with an all-new torso, newly sculpted legs, and updated proportions to better capture the character’s classic look while maintaining the playability and articulation of the MOTU Origins line. The design team emphasized that the goal was to make the figure feel like a true piece of classic Masters of the Universe artwork brought into three dimensions. The team also revealed that Too Bad will include a brand-new mini-comic, with the creative team describing it as a fun, nostalgic adventure that leans into the character’s goofy personality. They noted that the figure was one of their favorite projects and that the updated sculpt and vibrant colors make Too Bad stand out on the shelf while remaining faithful to the vintage aesthetic. Mattel described the release as a long-awaited addition to the Origins lineup and one that longtime collectors have been asking for.
Laser Light Skeletor
The only other figure besides Two Bad from the original vintage line that has yet to be released but was officially revealed is Laser Light Skeletor, as we saw revealed at this year’s Mattel MOTU Panel at SDCC 2026. Laser Light Skeletor was revealed during the SDCC 2026 MOTU panel, giving the vintage-inspired figure a new Origins release. He features bright blue skin, a green skull with red eyes, ornate bronze armor, a deep purple cape and hood, and a light-up red Havoc Staff that recreates one of the defining features of the original figure.
And with Laser Power He-Man, of course comes with nemesis, Laser Light Skeletor, also part of the Powers of Grayskull! Also prominently featured on the Eternia package artwork, you can see Laser Light Skeletor battling against Laser Power He-Man! But he too was previously teased on the Camo Khan Card art as well!
Laser Light Skeletor is featured very prominently on the back of Camo Khan’s card back art! He can be seen multiple times illustrated throughout the comic. He is seen shooting out his laser beam, sitting on his throne and commanding his evil henchmen Camo Khan to attack! One of the rarest of the original vintage action figures, Laser Light Skeletor is a sought after a very expensive vintage figure to acquire. If Mattel were to release him in the Origins line, I think fans would be totally over the moon with excitement!
Laser Light Skeletor was one of the two remaining deluxe release figures of the vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1988. He had light up eyes and a light up hand. The light up feature was activated by lifting his right arm, and his havoc staff was semitranslucent, so it was supposed to lit up while he held it in his right hand.

Here you can see the vintage actual figure out of package. He came with a battery powered backpack and a red light up Havoc Staff!
By the time this figure was released, the line’s popularity had died out in the United States, so it was released in Europe. Today, Laser Light He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor are of the highest valued figures of the entire MOTU vintage line and fetch triple digits!

Laser-Light Skeletor, released in Italy and Spain a year after the end of the Masters of the Universe toyline in the US, was a figure most North American fans were not aware of until they discovered it online years later. That was certainly true for me. Because the figure was produced in limited numbers overseas, it’s one of the most expensive vintage He-Man toys to acquire today. (Update: I’m also informed that there was some distribution of Laser Light Skeletor in Switzerland. Thanks to Olmo for the information.)

Unofficially Confirmed
Eldor MOTU Origins Figure
The one other figure that was shown on packaging but not yet official announced is Eldor. Eldor is a fun one, as he was one of the unproduced prototype characters of the “Powers of Grayskull” spin off line that never came to fruition in the 1980’s Masters of the Universe Line. Eldor appears on the back of the Snake Lair packaging, giving us an early look at a MOTU Origins figure Mattel has not officially revealed yet. The design features a brown hooded outfit with fur-trimmed shoulders, gold armor details, a gray beard, and a staff.
Eldor has a rugged, wizard-like look with a large brown hood framing his gray-bearded head and thick fur detailing running along the shoulders and down the front of his tunic. The exposed gray chest, gold belt and waist armor break up all that brown nicely, while the wrapped boots and gnarled wooden staff give him a weathered, old-world feel that fits the character really well.
He can be seen in the card art standing next to Moss Man and Tytus. How cool would it be if Mattel starts to build out the entire Powers of Grayskull line under another subline of Masters! Could we perhaps see a He-Ro as well with Vac Metal Chest Armor? That would be amazing!
Prototype images of Eldor and He-Ro had been around for many years, but we never got these figures as kids. But in 2019, thanks to bay area based Super7, we finally got Eldor & He-Ro figures as part of the Masters of the Universe Vintage Style 5.5″ collection.

Eldor known as the Heroic Guardian of the Book of Living spells, looks just like his prototype images! The giant tri-fold book works like a magic trick and changes images by alternating the way the book is opened. The original never released prototype image of Eldor is shown below. It looks alike like the Super7 version that was released back in 2019! This protoype was also shown to come with the ancient book of spells.

Promised by Mattel
Then we have a few last remaining characters that either came from the 1987 Masters of the Universe Movie, or had such specialized tooling and action features that they are a question mark if they will be coming to the MOTU Origins line. Twistoid
Also a big thank you to our Toy Habits crew member Grrrraffe for helping us decipher these mystery figure pictured on the Eternia Box art. Yes it is none other than Twistoid!
Twistoid was originally released for the Mattel vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1987. Commonly seen together with his counterpart, Rotar, he was a very odd character that was released at the tail end of the line.

He is a member of the Evil Warriors, he is a cybernetic warrior with no legs, whose lower body is shaped like a spinning top, enabling him to twist along the ground at super-speed. This enables him to trick opponents and easily dodge attacks.
Twistoid was one of the last figures to be released in the 1980s toy line. He was created as an evil rival to the heroic character of Rotar. Given his late introduction into the toy line, Twistoid is one of the line’s lesser-known characters and thus received little exposure. The only official medium to feature Twistoid is the Mattel mini-comic “Energy Zoids“. In this story, Skeletor steals the machine with which Man-At-Arms had created the Heroic Warrior Rotar and uses it to create Twistoid.
Mattel also designed a vehicle called the Gyratakker, which was intended to launch Rotar and Twistoid into combat. This vehicle features in the comic, but the toy line was cancelled before it could be released.
The action figure first released by Mattel in 1987 is a very rare and sought after collectors item today. Its rare existence can be attributed to being released very late into the toy series original run.
Twistoid was never featured in the Filmation accompanying cartoon because it had ended by the time his figure was released.

Twistoid was later as a two pack with his counterpart Rotar for the MOTU Classic line in 2015. Here ,they actually came with human legs that can be switched out for their rotating lower bodies.
Rotar
Rotar, Heroic Master of Hyper Spin was originally released by Mattel in 1987. One of Mattel’s later releases, Rotar continued the gimmick heavy theme by coming with gyro gears that would make him spin! This figure was very unique in that it was half action figure and half twistoid spinning toy. With only articulated arms, this twistoid action figure was considered a deluxe release with it’s included axe, gears blade and multi-geared spinner accessory / stand. The trademark on Rotar was renewed just this year on 01/13/2022! So Mattel is going hard with new trademark renewals signally the line is strong and we have so much more to see in Origins!
Questionable if they will be included??
Gwildor
We reported on a back in the beginning of April of Gwildor being included on a leaked list. Now being it was April 1st, we don’t know if it was part of an April Fool’s joke, or if it was legitimate. But seeing as Gwildor’s trademark was renewed just last year on 07/30/2021, then perhaps it may be legitamate! Gwildow was a fairly newer character to the Masters of the Universe world. He was introduced into the line after appearing in the 1987 live-action movie Masters of the Universe, starting Dolph Lundgren. Gwildor is a member of the Thenurians, which are a dwarf-like race. As you can see by the tools and equipment that adorn him, he is a is a famous locksmith and inventor. Gwildor is notable mainly for his greatest creation: The Cosmic Key, a mechanical device with the ability to transport its holder to any place throughout space and time. With his trademark being renewed just last year, this is great news for fans of the movie who were hoping to see movie figures made from the vintage line! Of course, we don’t have the official images yet, but the figure below represents the vintage Gwildor from 1987. We are sure other movie figures will follow like Blade, Saurod, and possibly a movie version of He-Man (played by Dolph Lundgren) and Skeletor (played by Frank Langella).
Blade
Blade, evil master of the sword looked like a pirate and was featured in the was live action 1987 Masters of the Universe movie. We have yet to see Blade teased on any MOTU Origins art or packaging so we are probably a long ways away from getting this figure. Interesting enough, we could not find any information on Mattel’s trademark for Blade.
Blade was a mercenary, and one of Skeletor’s finest warriors. He was a swordsman of great skill, carrying two swords and an array of knives. He had a deep hatred of He-Man, and was eager to face him in battle.
Blade was sent to Earth by Skeletor, along with Beast Man, Karg and Saurod, to find the second Cosmic Key. There, Blade faced He-Man in one-on-one combat, although he retreated with the others when Teela and Man-At-Arms arrived. Blade was then forced to return to Skeletor in disgrace, and begged for one more chance; Skeletor instead vaporizing Saurod, as Blade looked on in horror. When Evil-Lyn intervened to save the lives of Blade, Karg and Beast Man, Blade accompanied her back to Earth.

Blade was released in the vintage Masters of the Universe toy line in 1987, and included a sticker saying “Featured in the He-Man Movie”
Blade was also released for the MOTU Classics line in 2014.
Saurod
Saurod is another character from the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Movie. Saurod was originally released in 19876 and featured a sparking action feature from his mouth! He is a reptilian warrior who serves the evil villain Skeletor as one of his henchmen. Saurod is depicted as a humanoid lizard with a long tail, sharp teeth, and the ability to spit fire from his mouth.
Saurod was introduced in the live-action Masters of the Universe film released in 1987, where he is portrayed as a member of Skeletor’s evil forces. In the movie, Saurod is shown as a formidable warrior who is skilled in combat and uses his fire-breathing abilities to defeat his enemies. However, he is ultimately defeated by the heroic character He-Man.
Despite his limited appearance in the Masters of the Universe franchise, Saurod remains a memorable character for fans of the series due to his unique design and abilities. He has appeared in various merchandise, including action figures and comics, and has become a popular choice for collectors of Masters of the Universe memorabilia.
As you can see below, the trademark for Saurod has not been renewed since April 27,1987. So the status seems to be “DEAD” and unrevivable since May 30,1994. So this leaves us guessing as to if this figure will ever be coming to the MOTU Origins line?
The MOTU Giants

It looks like a large major of the Toy Habits community who took the survey, 92%+ said yes to both! And the majority 48%+ said rooted hair, plus 25%+ had no preference, so if you take those together approx. 74% would not mind the rooted hair, while 26% prefer the sculpted hair. Perhaps a happy median would be to pack the figures with both rooted hair and sculpted hair swappable heads! We hope to get these survey results to Mattel, so they can see what a sampling of very loyal MOTU collectors / Toy Habits audience would prefer! Thank you to all of you who participated as we hope this will help shape the future of the MOTU Origins line. Who know, perhaps some day, we might get the Giants in the line, and perhaps this could have been the catalyst that helped get that started!
Tytus & Megator
Here’s a closer look at the vintage Italian print ad featuring Tytus and Megator, and it’s a fantastic piece of promotional art from the era. The two-page spread frames them in a comic book style with Italian dialogue bubbles, pitting the heroic Tytus with his silver armor and massive bronze skull trap accessory against the green-skinned Megator swinging his chained mace, both towering over a tiny figure near their feet that really sells just how massive these giants were meant to be.
Sporting his sky-blue armor harness and matching wrist gauntlets, Tytus towers over the scene alongside Megator, whose olive-green skin and brown loincloth create a stark contrast against the orange backdrop of this vintage catalog page. The lower inset photos show both figures in action with smaller warriors, and I like how the middle shot captures what appears to be a spring-loaded kicking feature on Megator, his leg extending outward toward a smaller opponent.
As recently teased on the new Snake Lair MOTU Origins Packaging Art, we saw both Tytus and Megator teased onto the artwork. Mattel is no stranger to figures/ dolls of this size, they have teases the Giants Tytus and Megtor for sometime now. If they make these, will they have their classic rooted hair? Mattel is no stranger to rooted hair as they are the experts with their Barbie line! Also in the vintage She-Ra figures, so if we do ever get these giants, will they have rooted hair? Tytus
Tytus, one of the last produced characters of the Vintage Masters of the Universe Line, and one of two giants, is prominently featured on the front of the card back art whelding his giant hammer! The packaging for Tytus features a castle stone window design that frames the figure beautifully, with artwork in the lower corner depicting him in battle alongside a smaller warrior. I like how the box art illustration captures his silver armor and flowing hair in a more stylized, action-oriented way compared to the actual figure inside.
Armed with his massive bronze Body Snatcher weapon, Tytus cuts an imposing profile with his riveted silver armor harness featuring a crosshatch texture across the chest plates and a gold emblem at the center. His rooted brown hair flows past his shoulders and frames a stern face with blue eyes, a silver headband with a cross-shaped centerpiece, and what looks like a small red marking near his forehead. The vintage Tytus action figure can be see below, and was only released in Italy and Spain.
The original box art for the Tytus shows him battling against King Hiss along with He-Ro. It also describes his role in the world of Preternia. How cool would it be to get a Tytus in the Origins line with rooted hair!
We first saw him teased on Camo Khan’s card back art, so could Mattel be planning to release their two Powers of Grayskull giants? That’s been several years, so perhaps Mattel needs the fans to make their voices heard! You can see how the Camo Khan card art continues into this section, with a Turbodactyl swooping through that purple-tinged sky, its leathery wings spread wide and taloned feet extended toward the battlefield below. Several warriors are scattered across the rocky terrain in mid-combat with Snake Men, and the whole scene has that layered, chaotic energy where every corner rewards a second look.

Tytus is a giant aligned with the forces of good. He is a contemporary of King Grayskull and He-Ro from the Preternian era, when the Ancients were threatened by the Snake Men. The character was developed for Mattel‘s “The Powers of Grayskull toy line, a spinoff of the declining Masters of the Universe franchise that would explore the heroes and villains of prehistoric Eternia. However, plans for the line were scrapped, and Tytus was only made available in Europe as one of the last figures under the Masters of the Universe brand. As a result, he appears in little (if any) of the 1980s fiction, and is among the most obscure characters in the franchise.

You can see how the vintage artwork really emphasizes the sheer scale difference between Tytus and the smaller warriors at his feet, with his sky-blue armor harness and flowing blonde hair capturing that classic heroic giant aesthetic. The Body Snatcher weapon looks particularly impressive in illustrated form, its copper-toned barrel and clamping mechanism dwarfing the green-armored figure caught in its grip.
As seen in the MOTU Classics line, Tytus was produced with sculpted hair. Outfitted with silver shin guards featuring those same triangular blue emblems found on his chest harness, Tytus has a consistent design language running through his armor that ties the whole look together. The Body Snatcher’s bronze dome and claw mechanism are substantial pieces, connected by a silver chain loop, and the fur loincloth has a nice shaggy sculpt with individual tufts that contrast well against the smooth metallic armor elements.
Megator
Megator, evil Giant Destroyer was one of the last vintage Masters of the Universe characters to be released in 1988. One of two giants, Megator and Titus, the two rarest of the MOTU vintage figures, was released only in Europe, primarily in Italy. Originally designed to be part of the spin off “Powers of Grayskull” line, Megator and Titus were still released with the Masters of the Universe logos on their packaging. The box for Megator uses that same castle stone window design as Tytus’s packaging, but the artwork in the lower right corner depicts him in a much more menacing pose, swinging a chained mace while towering over crumbling fortress walls. I like how the color palette on the box art leans into fiery oranges and purples around the border, contrasting with the cool stone blues of the window frame.
Megator, the green giant evil warrior stands 15″ tall and came with real rooted hair. He included a spring-loaded right leg for a kicking action feature, and he came with a spiked ball and chain. Megator’s red chest armor has a wonderfully aggressive sculpt, with layered plates that have a weathered, almost reptilian texture and a grotesque face or skull motif molded right into the center. The chained mace features a silver metal chain attached to a gray spiked ball, and you can see how his rooted black hair has that wild, unruly quality that gives the vintage figure so much of its character compared to what a sculpted hair version might offer.
This piece of box art really captures Megator at his most ferocious, with his wild black hair whipping behind him and those pointed ears and fanged snarl adding a monstrous edge to his face. The chained mace swings wide as fortress walls crumble beneath him, and a tiny warrior near the base of the tower provides that perfect sense of enormous scale.
The MOTU Classics Megator can be seen below with sculpted hair. Megator’s belt buckle features a fan-shaped gold and red ornamental design that sits just above a ragged, feathered loincloth sculpted in dark gray with layered, uneven edges. His wrist cuffs are a burnt orange that matches the chest armor’s color palette, and the olive-green skin tone carries a subtle tonal variation across different sections of the body.
Megator was illustrated on both the card backs for Lord Gr’asp and Camo Khan’s card art. You can see how the Lord Gr’asp card art continues into this section, with a Turbodactyl swooping through that purple-tinged sky with Strobo riding on him, its leathery wings spread wide and taloned feet extended toward the battlefield below. Several warriors are scattered across the rocky terrain in mid-combat with Snake Men, and the whole scene has that layered, chaotic energy where every corner rewards a second look.
You can see Megator prominently featured on the front of the Camo Khan card back art spinning his giant spiked mace! Megator looms large in the illustrated scene, his green skin and red chest emblem dominating the composition against a crimson sky streaked with lightning. Several smaller warriors clash at his feet near what appears to be a dark fortress tower in the distance, and the whole piece has that dense, hand-painted quality that made vintage card backs so fun to pore over.
