Hot Toys recently opened preorders for its Aliens 40th Anniversary Corporal Hicks Sixth Scale Figure, and now we’re getting a much closer look at the prototype thanks to 6thscale_kawu on Instagram. We get a closer look at the Michael Biehn likeness, Colonial Marine armor, paint applications, and accessories, giving us a better idea of what the finished figure could look like when it arrives.

We covered the figure’s announcement and preorder details in our Hot Toys Corporal Hicks preorder article, but these close-ups deserve their own coverage. I’ve been excited about this release since it was announced, especially since I grew up watching Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese in The Terminator before seeing him return in Aliens as Corporal Hicks.

The prototype has some fantastic details, particularly the personalized armor, weathering, and facial sculpt. There are also a few things worth examining more closely before the production figure arrives.

Hot Toys has recreated Hicks’ Colonial Marine armor with the personalized markings, camouflage clothing, and equipment seen in Aliens. The figure stands approximately 12 inches tall and includes an M41A Pulse Rifle, shotgun, grenades, and a Xenomorph-themed display base. The prototype is displayed with the Pulse Rifle in hand and the additional accessories arranged around the base.

6thscale_kawu also shared video footage of the prototype, providing another look at the figure, its equipment, and the details of the sculpt.

Hicks’ M41A Pulse Rifle has plenty of detail worth discussing, particularly the combination of the olive-green housing and black metal components. The weapon features a ribbed barrel shroud, sculpted vents, and an underbarrel grenade launcher, along with an olive-green fabric sling. There are subtle weathering effects, with darker paint applications around the recessed areas and edges. There’s even a tiny carabiner attached to his gear. His shotgun scabbard and shoulder-mounted equipment are secured behind him, while the chest and shoulder plates feature chipped paint applications and scratches.

The Michael Biehn head sculpt includes fine skin texture, facial lines, and a slightly open mouth with visible teeth. Hicks’ helmet features camouflage paint applications, a fabric band, and an attached communications headset with microphone. The likeness looks promising, although the final production figure will ultimately determine how closely it matches this prototype.

Hot Toys has incorporated movable eyeballs into the head sculpt, along with the helmet-mounted targeting eyepiece, which sits over Hicks’ right eye. The eyepiece features a small rectangular viewing screen attached to the side of the helmet, along with the communications headset and microphone. The helmet has chipped paint applications around its edges, while the green uniform collar features a textured fabric finish.

The chest armor includes Hicks’ personalized red heart and gold padlock, with his name printed above the heart. There’s an interesting story behind that marking. Director James Cameron allowed the Colonial Marines to personalize their armor, drawing inspiration from American soldiers during the Vietnam War. However, Michael Biehn joined the production after James Remar, who was originally cast as Hicks, had already begun filming. Remar had painted the heart and padlock on the chest plate, and Biehn inherited his armor without getting the opportunity to customize it himself. Biehn later joked that the heart looked like a target painted directly over his chest. Hot Toys has recreated the marking alongside the scratched camouflage paint applications and worn edges. Four red-tipped grenades are secured along the side of the armor.

Hicks’ left shoulder armor features the simulated bullet hole surrounded by the words “BORN AGAIN,” along with chipped paint applications. The American flag patch sits beneath the shoulder plate, and his USCM service tattoo is printed on his left bicep. The arm construction conceals the elbow joint.

The camouflage Battle Dress Uniform pants include sewn cargo pockets, knee armor, and protective shin guards over the black combat boots. The handwritten “NON TOXIC” marking appears across the groin protector. The display base features metal grating and sculpted Xenomorph remains with dark, glossy paint applications.

Corporal Hicks Accessories

The ME3 Hand Welder features a ribbed black housing, a rectangular control panel, and a fabric strap. It’s one of the pieces of equipment used by the Colonial Marines in Aliens and is included alongside Hicks’ weapons and other accessories.

Hot Toys includes interchangeable hands for holding the weapons and accessories, along with fists and relaxed hands. The display base features the Aliens logo and a Dwayne Hicks nameplate.
