Affiliate links in post. See Disclosure Policy.

In an update to crowd fund backers, Mattel issued an email to today showcasing the new Eternia MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Official Box Artwork! There are so many easter eggs in this artwork, we don’t know where to begin, but we will cover them all right here and right now! This is super exciting as we are getting closer to Eternia beginning to ship to backers in the coming Spring of 2024! So without further ado, let’s dive into this amazing Eternia MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Official Box Art Reveal! Huge shoot out to the Baroness of Toys for the heads up that this box art got revealed this morning.

Character Teases

There are so many easter eggs hidden in this artwork, where do we begin? According to the information we received from Mattel ” The packaging features original art by Axel Giménez and Francisco Etchart. Their drawings were influenced by the “vintage” Eternia box art by William George.” Also they mentioned that “Look closely to find “Easter Eggs” throughout the artwork. Fan favorites from heroic and evil warriors to the ‘Powers of Grayskull’ are featured.” Ok folks, you heard it hear first, Mattel hinted at the POWERS OF GRAYSKULL!!! And if you don’t believe it, take a look at the incredible art work reveal.

Powers of Grayskull Teases

Let’s start out with my personal favorite, the Powers of Grayskull teases! First of all you will see front and center on the artwork. Here we can see figure teases of Laser Power He-Man, Laser Light Skeletor and He-Ro! We can also see Vypor behind Skeletor as well! These teases on the Eternia MOTU Origins Mattel Creations package art look incredible and seeing that they are front and center tells us that they are all but guaranteed to be coming to the line!

The Powers of Grayskull

As we mentioned above, the Powers of Grayskull was a short lived off shoot of the Masters of the Universe line in the late 1980’s. Set to take place in the pre-historic land of Preternia, only a couple dinosaurs were made and of course our famous two giants Megator and Tytus.

According to the lore, the Powers of Grayskull are a set of magical abilities that grants immense strength, wisdom, and protection against dark forces to the bearer. These powers were first imbued in Castle Grayskull, which served as a center of power for good forces in the universe. The guardian of the castle, Sorceress, possessed the powers and could bestow them on the chosen champions. The powers of Grayskull include strength, agility, wisdom, telekinesis, teleportation, and the ability to communicate with animals. The primary power is the Power of Grayskull, which can grant the wielder incredible strength and enhance their fighting skills. The powers of Grayskull are often sought by the villains of the universe, such as Skeletor, who wants to use them for his evil purposes. However, the powers can only be used for good, and only a worthy champion who possesses a pure heart and courage can wield them.

emiliano-preternia-poster-768x1086

The packaging of the three dinosaur toys that did see release before the line’s discontinuation bore the following text:

“Travel back in time through a secret time portal–and discover the ORIGIN of THE POWERS OF GRAYSKULL! Learn how He-Man became so strong! And explore the magical world of Preternia–home of HE-RO, the Most Powerful Wizard in the Universe! Monstrous dinosaurs and fierce giants–both good and evil–struggle for control of this strange & hostile land! The dinosaurs in the time of Grayskull–Tyrantisaurus RexBionatops and Turbodactyl–each possess a fantastic mechanical power! Can HE-RO master all the good magic of the Ancient Wizards, and protect future Eternia from forever falling in the claws of evil? Look For HE-RO and The Powers of Grayskull coming your way in 1987!”

Laser Power He-Man

Laser Power He-Man was a corner stone into the gate way of the Powers of Grayskull! Prominently featured on the Eternia package artwork, you can see Laser Power He-Man battling with Laser Light Skeletor! But this isn’t the first time we saw him teased! He was previously teased on the Camo Khan Card art as we will discuss below.

Eternia-MOTU-Origins-Mattel-Creations-Official-Package-Art-work-3a

Also previously featured on Camo Khan card back art, you can see a very clear image of Laser Power He-Man! We now have 2 teases for him! This is very exciting to think that we might be getting a Laser Power He-Man since he is one of the rarest vintage figures of the line! Back in 1988, the Masters of the Universe line’s popularity was waning and Laser Power He-Man was one of two final figures for Mattel. Similar to Laser Light Skeletor, Laser Power He-Man had a light up feature through his Power sword when held in his right hand

According to the Battle Ram Blog:

Laser Power He-Man was released Italy and Spain a year after the end of the Masters of the Universe toyline in the US. He was a figure most North American fans were not aware of until they discovered it online years later. That was certainly true for me. Because the figure was produced in limited numbers overseas, it’s one of the most expensive vintage He-Man toys to acquire today. (Update: I’m also informed that there was some distribution of Laser Power He-Man in Switzerland. Thanks to Olmo for the information.)

Mekaneck on Camo Khan Card art
Mekaneck on Camo Khan Card art

As with Laser Light Skeletor, the figure’s light up feature is activated by raising his right arm. A wire is snaked from the sword, under the armor on the right arm (which seems to exist only to hide the wire) and into the backpack. The light in the sword is powered by an AA battery that fits in the backpack.

The Italy release (shown below) has the newly sculpted head, which some have speculated is supposed to resemble Dolph Lundgren, who played He-Man in the 1987 Masters of the Universe Movie. Alternatively, it could resemble some actor who might have starred in the (never produced) interactive He-Man TV show. That’s purely speculative – they might not have had any actors in mind for the series. Looking at this and the early prototype closely, however, I think the most likely interpretation is that it’s just supposed to look like the original He-Man’s face sculpt, but with a more neutral expression and updated hair. Like Laser-Light Skeletor, all of Laser Power He-Man’s tooled parts are unique to the figure

Laser Power He-Man was one of the two remaining deluxe release figures of the vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1988. He had a light up power sword feature powered by his backpack. The light up feature was activated by putting the Power Sword in his hand. By the time this figure was released, the line’s popularity had died out in the United States, so it was released in Italy and Spain. Today, Laser Light He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor are of the highest valued figures of the entire MOTU vintage line and fetch triple digits!

Laser Power He-Man can with two variants of his head. The first was the original vintage head design, but was later changed to resemble Dolph Lundren who was then starring in the Masters of the Universe Motion Picture.

Laser Light Skeletor

And with Laser Power He-Man, of course comes with nemesis, Laser Light Skeletor, also part of the Powers of Grayskull! Also prominently featured on the Eternia package artwork, you can see Laser Light Skeletor battling against Laser Power He-Man! But he too was previously teased on the Camo Khan Card art as well!

Eternia-MOTU-Origins-Mattel-Creations-Official-Package-Art-work-3a

Last time we saw a tease for Laser Light Skeletor, was on the back of Camo Khan’s card back art! He can be seen multiple times illustrated throughout the comic. He is seen shooting out his laser beam, sitting on his throne and commanding his evil henchmen Camo Khan to attack! One of the rarest of the original vintage action figures, Laser Light Skeletor is a sought after a very expensive vintage figure to acquire. If Mattel were to release him in the Origins line, I think fans would be totally over the moon with excitement!

Laser Light Skeletor was one of the two remaining deluxe release figures of the vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1988. He had light up eyes and a light up hand. The light up feature was activated by lifting his right arm, and his havoc staff was semitranslucent, so it was supposed to lit up while he held it in his right hand. By the time this figure was released, the line’s popularity had died out in the United States, so it was released in Europe. Today, Laser Light He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor are of the highest valued figures of the entire MOTU vintage line and fetch triple digits!

He-Ro

He-Ro was a character that was featured in the mostly unproduced Powers of Grayskull line. He was supposed to take over He-Man as the man Heroic Warrior in the line, but sadly was never produced. Now this is the second tease for He-Ro we are now seeing in artwork! Axel Gimenez himself had made a comment about this a few months back which we covered in our MOTU Origins He-Ro Tease article. How cool would it be to get a shiny vac metal gold colored MOTU Origins version of He-Ro, just the thought of it makes me so happy and excited! Also, this opens the door to the Powers of Grayskull characters and dinos! The possibilities are endless! Just the thought of getting a shiny vac-metal version of He-Ro in the MOTU Origins line makes me so incredibly excited and happy! So let’s explore this MOTU Origins He-Ro Tease!

The first time we saw He-Ro teases was on the Fang-or card back art work. You can see him prominently featured on the gorgeous rear card back art.

MOTU Classics He-Ro

We finally got the very first action figure produced of He-Ro in 2009, Mattel brought us He-Ro as part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive! He was sold in limited quantities and also was latter available on Mattycollector.com.

He came packed with 3 different color gems, green, purple and red. They were randomly packed in, and you would not know which one you were going to get until you opened the package. Funny enough, that little gem was how the Toy Sorceress and Michael met! The Toy Sorceress was looking for the green gem, and Michael had one he was willing to trade, a few email exchanges later, the two became good friends and partners on the ToyHabits.com website and the rest is Toy Habits history! It only seems fitting that they are now both co-authoring this review!

Super7 He-Ro

Fast forward the clock to 2018, and here comes Super7 with their awesome retro style 5.5″ Masters of the Universe figures. They did what Mattel was unable to do nearly 35 years earlier, they actually produced a stunning He-Ro action figure, shiny gold vac-metal armor and all! He included his staff of power. When you pressed down on the top of the staff, the staff opened up like a flower petal and revealed a beautiful translucent green gem inside!

The Packaging for this figure was also modeled after the short-lived vintage Powers of Grayskull line with that gorgeous new logo and illustrated art of He-Ro holding his staff on the front, and an illustration of He-Ro battling Megator on the back.

History of He-Ro

He-Ro was a character that Mattel came up with that was supposed to be the new lead heroic leader in the late 1980’s Powers of Grayskull Line to take the place of He-Man. By that time in the line, interest in Masters of the Universes was waning and kids’ attention was now going elsewhere. Well, the Powers of Grayskull line was very short-lived with only a couple of Dinosaurs and Giants being produced in the oversees markets. Only a prototype was made of He-Ro, with gorgeous gold colored vac-metal armor, but sadly, the He-Ro figure was never produced.

According to He-Ro | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom:

He-Ro is the name of two fictional characters in the Masters of the Universe franchise, both linked to the main character He-Man and both achieving only a “prototype stage”, until 2009, when the initial version was finally released as part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line.

He-Ro was planned to be a new character introduction, the centerpiece of The Powers of Grayskull, a spin-off line of Mattel‘s Masters of the Universe toy line in 1987. The Powers of Grayskull was to be set in Eternia’s prehistoric past, called “Preternia” to differentiate, and promised to reveal secrets about the source of He-Man’s power, through the adventures of He-Ro, a young but powerful wizard who lived in that time.

In Mattel’s license guide it stated that Gray (the original alter ego for He-Ro) could, “by placing one hand over his heart & flexing the other into a muscle & saying, Magic & strength tempered by heart… I stand for peace!”, he would become He-Ro of Grayskull, the most powerful wizard in the Universe.

However, the line was cancelled in early 1987, and none of this came to fruition. The 1987 Mattel Toy Catalog published pictures of the proposed toys from the line, including an action figure of He-Ro. Three of the dinosaur toys from the line actually made it to stores, and the two “giant” action figures saw release as exclusives in Italy, but He-Ro was never released as a toy.

Here you can see early prototypes of the never produced He-Ro figure by Mattel.

Here you can see early test shot prototypes of the never produced He-Ro figure by Mattel as well.

And of course, once we got to Masters of the Universe Classics, He-Ro was finally released as a production figure for the first time in MOTU history! It was quickly followed by the Super7 5.5″ vintage style version. Then in 2022, we finally got He-Ro in the Masterverse line!

Vypor

Another character we got teased on the artwork was Vypor! That really cool looking red snake man that is reminiscent of the Viper tower of the Eternia playset. We recently covered that Vypor and Reptilax were coming to MOTU Origins line as fan channel exclusives! If you want to read more about it, you can check out our Reptilax & Vypor Coming to the MOTU Origins article.

Vypor-MOTU-Origins-Eternia-Playset-Box-Art-Tease-1

Axel Gimenez is recognized for his dynamic art style and his ability to capture the iconic characters and settings of the MOTU universe. His illustrations have brought new life to the adventures of He-Man, Skeletor, and their allies and enemies. In the prolific days of the Masters of the Universe Classics era, Axel had come up with countless concepts for figures that were never produced as actual figures and the MOTU Origins lines is providing a canvas for his work to come alive in plastic. In fact, three out of the 6 figures in his latest image he posted to Instagram are either teased or being produced in the MOTU Origins line. This article is meant to keep a running log of the deep cut teases and official announcements for brand new figures making it into the Masters of the Universe Origins line.

Snake Men

As designed in the MOTU Classics line, Vypor would reuse parts from Snake Face, Lord Dactus and Prahvus but he would need new armor, a new head and a new neck piece. What does make him a possibility is that his head sculpt is inspired by the Snake Tower from the Eternia playset, which comes out in 2024. Also as Mattel goes deeper into 200x , we could see Lord Dactus (who’s trademark was recently renewed by Mattel) and Prahvus as possible figures they could make out of Vypor., who are are both unique characters to that era of MOTU and strong contenders for figures for the MOTU Origins line.

Vypor MOTU Origins Concept

The most recent teases we’ve seen come from Lady Slither’s card art! Below is a full view of the front card back art that features Vypor and Reptilax (along with Strettch Nekk and Fang-Or) Here are an up close image of the card art that features Vypor, the character on the left under Lady Slither’s staff and Reptilax (as seen in the middle).

We’ve seen Sy-Klone on a couple different card art montages, including Jitzu’s where if you were not paying attention to who was flying in from the side, you would definitely miss him. I think He-Man can stand on his own defending against Jitzu’s chopping fist but Sy-Klone is there for backup! We also saw him in the most recent release of the Flying Fists He-Man card art where he is taking an offensive pose raising his shield high up in the air.

A gaggle of evil Horde henchman appear on the Sorceress’ card art as well as Hordak’s, including Mantenna, Modulok, Leech, and Grizzlor, make up the bulk of this section. Since we have now seen Modulok on 2 card back artworks and the trademark has recently been renewed, we can probably make this one a given to come to the Origins line in the near future!

Modulok MOTU Origins Tease and Trademark Renewal

Modulok is another very gimmicky MOTU Character. To sweeten the possibility, we discovered that his trademark was renewed on 03/25/2021. Shortly after his figure was release in 1985, Modulok appears on the toy line’s accompanying cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation. Consisting of 22 Body parts and a 2-part laser gun, Modulok was the first of its kind for the MOTU line! Coined ” Evil Beast of a thousand Bodies”, this Ultimate Transforming Creature was a member of the Evil Horde. Although the Evil Horde are used as the main villains Filmation’s spin-off series, She-Ra Princess of Power, rather than He-Man, Modulok is given the unique honor of making his debut on He-Man instead. Halfway through the first season of, She-Ra: Modulok is incorporated into the She-Ra series, the only character from either show to be transferred permanently from one to the other. This occurs in the episode “Gateway to Trouble” in which Modulok builds a device for Skeletor which can open a portal to Etheria to transport his whole army to the planet. This character is interesting because we recently got the reveal for a 4 legged Mantenna, and that new 4 legged sculpt has set the stage for perhaps how they can also pull off Modulok in the Origins style.

As you recall, Rokkon was revealed for the MOTU Origins line at SDCC2023! They did an amazing job with Rokkon as he appears to be able to transform into, yes you guessed, a rock!

Rokkon-MOTU-Origins-SDCC-2023

Rokkon is a youth of the Rock People, and the frequent companion of his mentor Stonedar. The character appeared late in the 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line, and as such appears in relatively few stories, with little consistency.

Stonedar is the leader of the Rock People. The character appeared late in the 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line, and as such appears in relatively few stories, with little consistency. He is often accompanied by his young friend Rokkon. The pair were like transforming MOTU figures but instead turning into something cool, they turned into rocks, which reminds me of that part in the movie Big where a toy company produces a Transformer that turns into a building!

This is the first time we are seeing Rio Blast teased and we are sure collector’s will be going gaga over this! Rio Blast is another character that has his trademark renewed not too long ago on 5/20/2021. Released by Mattel in 1986, Rio Blast is a futuristic cowboy who has hidden blasters all over his body. With pop out laser cannons from his chest and legs six shooters at his wrists and shoulder cannons, Rio Blast was yet another one Mattel’s gimmick heavy figures that was common in the later releases of MOTU figures. A cowboy seems a bit out of place in the planet of Eternia, but this techno-heavy Cowboy sure packs a lot of techno fire power and that technology part is what makes him make sense in the line.

Extendar

Extendar was also a very unique figure and looked nothing like previous figures that were released in the line. Taking on more of a knight appearance, this figure came out very late in the line and was not featured in the cartoon but he does have a mini comic backstoryAccording to the Wiki Grayskull:

Occasionally referred to in comics as the ‘Tower of Power’, Extendar was introduced into the Masters of the Universe toy line in 1986, at a stage when the toy line was breaking away from its roots in pure fantasy, and introducing more robotic and mechanical characters. Given that the accompanying cartoon series had been cancelled by the time his toy reached the market, he never appears in animated form. However, he features prominently in various comics and storybooks, and is introduced in the Mattel mini-comic “The Warrior Machine”. This comic showcases him as a friend of Prince Adam who is an ordinary knight, but yearns for special powers of his own after witnessing the skills of the Horde warrior Dragstor. Hordak subsequently grants his wish and subjects him to scientific experiments which turn him into a mechanical cyborg warrior with the power of extension. Invincible at full height, he is set upon He-Man, but manages to throw off Hordak’s curse and join the Heroic Warriors. Subsequent mini-comics portray him as one of the most powerful members of his ranks.

Extendar

Extendar’s gimmick was pretty cool! He could grow larger by pulling on his neck, arms, and legs.

Hover Robots

Thanks to keen eye of Toy Habits Crew Member, Grrrraffe he thinks he spies a red version of the Hover Robots. Hover Robots were metallic, robotic soldiers that served as minions for Skeletor and his Evil Warriors, much like the robotic Horde Troopers served Hordak and the Evil Horde as foot soldiers.A Hover Robot was apparently equipped with anti-gravity technology permitting it to fly. It could attack foes by grabbing them with its mechanical arms, ramming into them with shoulder tackles, using whirling blades, or shooting laser blasts.

Mulit-Bot was the second figure in the MOTU line to come out with the mix and match style body parts. Just like Modulok, Multi-bot too came with 22 body parts but this time could combine with Modulok to create a huge Mega Bot monster like creature!Apparently as it says on the box, there were 1000 possible combinations, so I am sure kids had hours and hours of fun with this thing! Multibot was released a year after Modulok in 1986, and continued that gimmick heavy theme of the MOTU toys back in the 80’s. Also member of the Evil Horde, Multi Bot was known as the ” Evil Robot of a thousand bodies” Made of completely all new parts, Multi-bot did not share any molds with previous MOTU figures, sigaling the strength of the line at the time! Multi-Bot first appeared on the She-Ra Princess of Power cartoon in the episode “Horde Prime Takes A Holiday”. Multi-Bot was the goofy Horde robot created by Modulok. Mattel has just recently renewed this trademark this year on 03/09/2022, showing us we have so much more to come in the MOTU Origins line!

Twistoid

Also a big thank you to our Toy Habits crew member Grrrraffe for helping us decipher these mystery figures.

Eternia MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Official Package Art Twistoid tease

Twistoid was originally released for the Mattel vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1987. Commonly seen together with his counterpart, Rotar, he was a very odd character that was released at the tail end of the line.

According to Twistoid | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom

He is a member of the Evil Warriors, he is a cybernetic warrior with no legs, whose lower body is shaped like a spinning top, enabling him to twist along the ground at super-speed. This enables him to trick opponents and easily dodge attacks.

Twistoid was one of the last figures to be released in the 1980s toy line. He was created as an evil rival to the heroic character of Rotar. Given his late introduction into the toy line, Twistoid is one of the line’s lesser-known characters and thus received little exposure. The only official medium to feature Twistoid is the Mattel mini-comic “Energy Zoids“. In this story, Skeletor steals the machine with which Man-At-Arms had created the Heroic Warrior Rotar and uses it to create Twistoid.

Mattel also designed a vehicle called the Gyratakker, which was intended to launch Rotar and Twistoid into combat. This vehicle features in the comic, but the toy line was cancelled before it could be released.

The action figure first released by Mattel in 1987 is a very rare and sought after collectors item today. Its rare existence can be attributed to being released very late into the toy series original run.

Twistoid was never featured in the Filmation accompanying cartoon because it had ended by the time his figure was released.

Twistoid was later as a two pack with his counterpart Rotar for the MOTU Classic line in 2015. Here ,they actually came with human legs that can be switched out for their rotating lower bodies.

Sharella

Sharella which is a fairly new character can also be spotted on the top of central tower, thanks again to Toy Habits Crew member Grrrraffe for sending us a clearer image. She can be seen with her bow and arrow pointed at poor Grizzlor who is climbing the ladder up the Central Tower.

Sharella-MOTU-Origins-Eternia-Playset-Box-Art-Tease-1

Sharella is actually the Goddess. According to MOTU Lore and as written on the character bio for MOTU Classics, the Goddess’s real name is Sharella. But who really is Sharella and where did she come from?

According to the MOTU Classics Goddess Bio:

After the death of King Grayskull, the Power of the Universe was transferred from the Sword of He to the Council of Elders who hid it deep within his castle. Knowing the full sword was the key to channeling the power, they split it in two to prevent it from falling into the hands of evil. For five centuries they waited for a worthy heir to be born. During this time their spirit guide, the creature known as “The Goddess” of Etheria, trained secret heroic guardian to keep the two halves of the sword separated. Many of these brave warriors took the name “He-Man” in honor of the sword they protected giving birth to many different legends of the protector of Eternia.

According WikiGrayskull:

The Masters of the Universe Classics toy line has combined elements from all previous continuities, and as such has restored the Goddess to a position of importance in Eternian history. According to the biographies printed on the toys, the Goddess is Sharella, a spirit guide who consulted the Council of Elders between the death of King Grayskull and the lifetime of Prince Adam some 500 years later. During this time the Goddess trained “secret heroic guardians” such as VikorWun-Dar, and Oo-Larr to protect the two halves of Grayskull’s “Sword of He” until a worthy heir emerged. The Classics storyline has yet to present any information about her activities during the present day, or her relationship (if any) with the Sorceress, Teela, and Prince Adam.

Sharella was originally conceived to part a heroic character in the mostly unproduced Powers of Grayskull line of 1987. She was seen on the box art for the Megator package running in the background. She was thought to have come with a Sword, bow, and quiver with arrows. Unfortunately for all of us, she was never produced as a figure in the 1987 Powers of Grayskull line.

Unfortunately, Sharella has never been an officially produced action figure, but if the Origins line makes a figure of her, they are going way deep into MOTU lore, and that is super exciting! Here we can see a custom by Hunter Knight. Created by using a Battleground Teela figure with a sculpted top and also re-sculpted lower arms. Her quiver was donated from a Young Justice Artemis action figure with new sculpted details and her bow is a cast from a Legolas figure with additional details, HKC did a magnificent job! So, this give you a little bit of an idea of what Sharella might look like in action figure form! So you could imagine Mattel using a Teela Origins buck as a basis for this figure.

Starring on the Wun-Dar comic card back art and in the packed in mini comic “Lost Legend”. In the mini comic, Wun-Dar also refers to Sharella as “The Goddess”. Sharella seems to be a pivitol character in the story. On the Comic Cardback art, we can see Sharella whelding a bow and arrow coming to Wun-Dar’s rescue, as he battles a storm of evil glowing skeleton warriors.

Purple Cy-Clops

Standing next to Stinkor you could make out the purple Cyclops character that we have seen teased several times in the past. He has been seen on the Castle Grayskull package art, Wundar’s cardback art, and on the Battlefield Warriors set package as well.

Purple-Cy-Clops-MOTU-Origins-Eternia-Playset-Box-Art-Tease

We got our first hint at Cyclops on a very early product in the Masters of the Universe Origins line, and it was very subtle. If you look closely at the front left-hand corner of the Prince Adam and the Sky Sled packaging artwork, you will notice a shadowy figure watching Beast Man and Teela fighting each other. That shadowy figure was none other than Cyclops! You could see the back of him, but his horned helmet, sword and shield were all clearly visible!

Our next hint at Cyclops was a little more visible, when we saw him locked in battle with Fisto. In this illustration we get a clear view of Cyclop’s fierce looking face, his Viking style horned helmet, battle armor and battle knee pads complete with spikes! You can kind of make out his purple-colored skin as well.

Next, we got a very clear view of Cyclops joining in battle with Two Bad, Faker on Duplicat, and Battle Armor Skeletor on Panthor against our Heroic Battle Armor He-Man riding Battle Cat and another female warrior which might be Teela, or perhaps someone else? And we also get another hint of that mysterious green frog man, just to the right of Faker and Duplicat. But that can be a discussion for another time! Cyclops again is shown is his horned Viking style helmet, is wheedling a chained mace weapon, and has purple skin and brownish orange chest and knee armor. Now this being the third time we are seeing Cyclops on package art, each time he is getting more prominent and more detailed.

And now the latest time we spot Cyclops, he is the featured character on the cover of the Wun-Dar packaged in mini comic “Lost Legend” ! He is a pivotal part of the mini comic story and is featured battling Wun-Dar throughout the mini comic! So is this now a huge hint, that Cyclops is coming to the Origins line? Only time will tell, but it has sure been fun to review all the times we have spotted him and to speculate!

Bashasaurus Card Art Tease

We have another Bashasaurus tease, making the 3rd time!

Previous Card Art Teases

Once again, Roy and team knocked it out of the park as we see Dragon Blaster Skeletor spraying his venomous spray toward Thunder Punch He-Man who is attacking riding in the Bashasaurus! And by Dragon Blaster Skeletor’s side is Two Bad making his 3 card art appearance! You will also notice a couple of playful dinosaurs in the background! Is this a hint that we are develaing into Preternia and the Powers of Grayskull line soon? Also, one of the dinos have his ribs exposed, could that be a tease for Battle Bones?

If you blinked you might have missed the Bashasaurus tease lurking in the background on Roboto’s card art.

Bashasaurus MOTU Origins Card Art Tease

The box art features Battle Armor He-Man in the driver’s seat and the it shows you that you can press a button and the ball swing forward and we hope that action figure is retained because what would be the point if they left out that? It would be like leaving the rip stick feature of of the Road Ripper (aka Ground Ripper)…oh wait…they did that lol.

The Bashasaurus is a vehicle from the Masters of the Universe toyline and related franchise. It is adorned with a spiked head and has a huge mace that can “bash” obstacles and enemy vehicles.

Mantisaur:

The Mantisaur is also featured on the box art!

Mantisaur-Tease-Etenria-MOTU-Origins-Box-Art-Tease

According to the Wiki Grayskull:

Mantisaur is Hordak’s mount, making him the Horde equivalent to Battle Cat and Panthor. Mantisaur’s first appearance is in the minicomic Between a Rock and a Hard Place!, where he is able to speak and can control insects. Mantisaur also appears in the Star MOTU comics and in the She-Ra TV episode A Talent for Trouble, although in the series, he is green instead of his normal red-and-black.

Mantisaur | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom

Released in 1986, Mattel’s version of the Mantesour was a direct translation of how he was depicted in the minicomics. With it’s bright red head, bulging eyes and spider like legs, this was truly a sight to see. The removeable saddle allowed Hordak or one of his minions to ride on the Mantesours’s back and also included a rotating rear gun. Kids really enjoyed this insectoid steed for Hordak!
