Mattel Creations Exclusive April 2025 Preorders: Hurricane Hordak MOTU Origins + Mystery Figure
April is looking like its going to be a great month for MOTU Collectors! Back on March 4, 2025, The Mattel Creations UK has put up their launch Calendar for March and April, which is not on the US launch calendar, indicating that MOTU Collectors Mattel Creations exclusives are going up for preorder on March 6, 2025 and April 8, 2025 at 9am PT. We already knew a Mattel Creations exclusive figure was going up for preorder on March 6, 2025 based on the Club Grayskull announcement, which will be a members only figure going live at the Mattel Creations REVEALED event! The hint that Mattel gave was it is to be a Powers of Grayskull figure and He-Ro finally made his appearance! Also, announced during the live stream on March 6, 2025, it was revealed that Hurricane Hordak will be the next MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive. What we did not expect was another MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive to go up for preorder in the same month! Huge thanks to toyhuntershollow for the heads up!

MOTU Origins Hurricane Hordak
Also mentioned during the live stream, Hurricane Hordak will be the next Mattel Creations exclusive released for the MOTU Origins vintage line! Hurricane Hordak was released in 1985. A deluxe variant of the original Hordak figure, he had a Horde bat on his right hand that created a ‘hurricane” twirling effect. Hurricane Hordak is one of the original vintage deluxe figures we yet to get in the line, so maybe this is a tease of things to come. The original Hurrican Hordak was released in 1985 and came with a spinning Horde bat gimmick on his right hand that could be swapped out for two other accessories, shown below.

We saw Hurrican Hordak teased on the Sy-Klone card back art. Here is a view of the front card art in hi resolution! The colors look incredible, and you can make out the huge army of Horde Troopers coming out of that tower next to Hurricane Hordak with his spinning right hand of evil is the perfect nemesis for Sy-Klone!

MOTU Mystery Figure Speculation
While we are not sure what Mattel might have in store for us on April 28, 2025, we can make some educated guesses plus include some pipe dreams! The Team at Mattel Creations took us into a deep dive into Preternia with their incredible unveiling of the most powerful Wizard in the Universe He-Ro during their Mattel Creations REVEALED event. He-Ro was the first recipient of the Powers of Grayskull and the sword of He. He-Ro comes in new window box packaging covered in stunning artwork! And of course with new packaging artwork comes new character teases! According to the news revealed at the event, there will be two more MOTU Origins Club Grayskull Exclusives coming in 2025. Could they be from the Powers of Grayskull line and teased on He-Ro’s box art? If so, we could see Eldor and Sharella making it to the line this year! During the live stream, their exact words were, “He-Ro along with 2 additional releases throughout the year will debut the most iconic characters in the Powers of Grayskull for the first time in the Origins line.” Could we see even bigger names like Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor? Or even BIGGER figures like Megator and Titus, the giants of the Powers of Grayskull. Let’s explore these possibilities of these Mattel Creations He-Ro art teases and future Powers of Grayskull character releases.
He-Ro Box Art Teases
Let’s start by taking a look at the box art for He-Ro. The front of the box features an incredible adaptation of the Powers of Grayskull logo and design with a window box display featuring He-Ro. The side of the box also feature beautiful illustrations of He-Ro. But where the magic happens is on the rear of the packaging.

Sharella Tease
We can clearly see Sharella illustrated on the rear of the He-Ro’s Packaging. But this is not the first time we have seen her teased on Cardback art. We also have a custom figure shown below to illustrate what she might look like.

Sharella has appeared several times on packages, card backs and mini comics. Here on Terroar’s card back she is riding on Turbodactyl ready to go to battle with Terroar! This is yet another tease for her figure!

We previously just saw Sharella spotted on the top of central tower on the Eternia Playset box. She can be seen with her bow and arrow pointed at poor Grizzlor who is climbing the ladder up the Central Tower.

Sharella is actually the Goddess. According to MOTU Lore and as written on the character bio for MOTU Classics, the Goddess’s real name is Sharella. But who really is Sharella and where did she come from?
According to the MOTU Classics Goddess Bio:
After the death of King Grayskull, the Power of the Universe was transferred from the Sword of He to the Council of Elders who hid it deep within his castle. Knowing the full sword was the key to channeling the power, they split it in two to prevent it from falling into the hands of evil. For five centuries they waited for a worthy heir to be born. During this time their spirit guide, the creature known as “The Goddess” of Etheria, trained secret heroic guardian to keep the two halves of the sword separated. Many of these brave warriors took the name “He-Man” in honor of the sword they protected giving birth to many different legends of the protector of Eternia.

According WikiGrayskull:
The Masters of the Universe Classics toy line has combined elements from all previous continuities, and as such has restored the Goddess to a position of importance in Eternian history. According to the biographies printed on the toys, the Goddess is Sharella, a spirit guide who consulted the Council of Elders between the death of King Grayskull and the lifetime of Prince Adam some 500 years later. During this time the Goddess trained “secret heroic guardians” such as Vikor, Wun-Dar, and Oo-Larr to protect the two halves of Grayskull’s “Sword of He” until a worthy heir emerged. The Classics storyline has yet to present any information about her activities during the present day, or her relationship (if any) with the Sorceress, Teela, and Prince Adam.
Goddess | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom
Sharella was originally conceived to part a heroic character in the mostly unproduced Powers of Grayskull line of 1987. She was seen on the box art for the Megator package running in the background. She was thought to have come with a Sword, bow, and quiver with arrows. Unfortunately for all of us, she was never produced as a figure in the 1987 Powers of Grayskull line.

Unfortunately, Sharella has never been an officially produced action figure, but if the Origins line makes a figure of her, they are going way deep into MOTU lore, and that is super exciting! Here we can see a custom by Hunter Knight. Created by using a Battleground Teela figure with a sculpted top and also re-sculpted lower arms. Her quiver was donated from a Young Justice Artemis action figure with new sculpted details and her bow is a cast from a Legolas figure with additional details, HKC did a magnificent job! So, this give you a little bit of an idea of what Sharella might look like in action figure form! So you could imagine Mattel using a Teela Origins buck as a basis for this figure.
Starring on the Wun-Dar comic card back art and in the packed in mini comic “Lost Legend”. In the mini comic, Wun-Dar also refers to Sharella as “The Goddess”. Sharella seems to be a pivitol character in the story. On the Comic Cardback art, we can see Sharella whelding a bow and arrow coming to Wun-Dar’s rescue, as he battles a storm of evil glowing skeleton warriors.

Minox
Featured very prominently on the back of He-Ro’s package art is a Minotaur character, Minox. We tried to do some research to see where this figure came from, and with the help of @durendalstrike on Instagram. We tried to ask Axel Gimenez and he tried to give me a hint but I don’t know how a cow emoji and lightening bolt help, but I thought it was pretty funny! How cool would this figure be? He could be based on a chonky buck and Ram Man like armor.

Minox first appeared in the story Il Labirinto di Minox (The Maze of Minox) in a 1987 issue of the Italian Magic Boy comics magazine, where he fought He-Man inside his labyrinth. The robotic minotaur introduced himself as a “creation of Skeletor” and had the ability to shoot lightning bolts from his metal horns. He-Man ultimately defeated Minox by dousing him with water, which short-circuited the creature’s electronic components. In the Masters of the Universe Classics line, Minox was mentioned in Karg’s bio. There, he was described as a Mintoran cyborg who would drag unfortunate victims into Snake Mountain’s Doom Room for interrogation by Karg.

Eldor
Eldor is prominently featured not on the He-Ra package art, but on the cover of the included mini-comic! We can see him illustrated below with his book of spells! And he is featured throughout the mini comic story as well. We have seen Eldor teases several times, which we will recap below, but again is this a hint that Eldor is one of the two “Iconic” characters coming to the Powers of Grayskull in MOTU Origins this year?

Several months back, Axel Gimenez posted a photo on his Instagram page of the Super7 vintage Masters of the Universe Eldor figure that is on card and unopened. He simply put “✨Working…✨” in his post and the last time he did this, he featured an image of the Super7 vintage Masters of the Universe He-Ro, which can only mean one thing. Based on a recent post made by Mattel, they spilled the beans and made it publicly known that the MOTU Origins Eternia box art featured a ton of easter eggs as the Origins line is known for those teases turning into figures. Eldor was conspicuously missing from the teases on the Eternia box art so we are taking this a very good sign that (1) Eldor is coming to the Masters of the Universe and (2) that the Powers of Grayskull are headed to the Masters of the Universe Origins line. Well (2) has been proven, so now we need to get Eldor in the Origins line!

Eldor is a fun one, as he was one of the unproduced prototype characters of the “Powers of Grayskull” spin off line that never came to fruition in the 1980’s Masters of the Universe Line. He can be seen in the card art standing next to Moss Man and Tytus. Now that Mattel has launched the Powers of Grayskull line under, could we perhaps see him following the release of He-Ro? That would be amazing! The entire scene on the back of Vypor’s card it is spectacular! We see Eldor kneeling in front of Vypor with the new Snake Men Cham-Or surrounding them with Lady Slither looking on

Here we can see Eldor illustrated on the back of the Mattel Creations exclusive Camo Khan card art!

Prototype images of Eldor and He-Ro had been around for many years, but we never got these figures as kids. But in 2019, thanks to bay area based Super7, we finally got Eldor & He-Ro figures as part of the Masters of the Universe Vintage Style 5.5″ collection. Eldor known as the Heroic Guardian of the Book of Living spells, looks just like his prototype images! The giant tri-fold book works like a magic trick and changes images by alternating the way the book is opened. You can read all about Eldor’s creation and back story on the Eldor: (1987/2019) battleramblog.com.

Laser Light Characters
Next we have the 2 Laser Light characters. Could we see even bigger names like Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor? Are these two figures considered “Powers of Grayskull” characters? They were originally released at the end of the line, but under the standard red rock burst card backs, not “Powers of Grayksull.” But they were prominently featured on the Eternia box art, which was the hint that Mattel had sent out on a small magnet representing the Eternia box art. According to a Facebook post from Optibotomus, Mattel is teasing the Powers of Grayskull once again! He said, “Got a special package from our friends at Mattel today! There are going to 3 clues to tease us and they sent me the first one. THIS MAGNET!!! They say to pay close attention to the details. The other clues will be posted by Mattel Creations on their social channels.” So look at that magnet for clues!

Laser Power He-Man
Laser Power He-Man was a corner stone into the gate way of the Powers of Grayskull! Prominently featured on the Eternia package artwork, you can see Laser Power He-Man battling with Laser Light Skeletor! But this isn’t the first time we saw him teased! He was previously teased on the Camo Khan Card art as we will discuss below.

Also previously featured on Camo Khan card back art, you can see a very clear image of Laser Power He-Man! We now have 2 teases for him! This is very exciting to think that we might be getting a Laser Power He-Man since he is one of the rarest vintage figures of the line! Back in 1988, the Masters of the Universe line’s popularity was waning and Laser Power He-Man was one of two final figures for Mattel. Similar to Laser Light Skeletor, Laser Power He-Man had a light up feature through his Power sword when held in his right hand
According to the Battle Ram Blog:
Laser Power He-Man was released Italy and Spain a year after the end of the Masters of the Universe toyline in the US. He was a figure most North American fans were not aware of until they discovered it online years later. That was certainly true for me. Because the figure was produced in limited numbers overseas, it’s one of the most expensive vintage He-Man toys to acquire today. (Update: I’m also informed that there was some distribution of Laser Power He-Man in Switzerland. Thanks to Olmo for the information.)

As with Laser Light Skeletor, the figure’s light up feature is activated by raising his right arm. A wire is snaked from the sword, under the armor on the right arm (which seems to exist only to hide the wire) and into the backpack. The light in the sword is powered by an AA battery that fits in the backpack.
The Italy release (shown below) has the newly sculpted head, which some have speculated is supposed to resemble Dolph Lundgren, who played He-Man in the 1987 Masters of the Universe Movie. Alternatively, it could resemble some actor who might have starred in the (never produced) interactive He-Man TV show. That’s purely speculative – they might not have had any actors in mind for the series. Looking at this and the early prototype closely, however, I think the most likely interpretation is that it’s just supposed to look like the original He-Man’s face sculpt, but with a more neutral expression and updated hair. Like Laser-Light Skeletor, all of Laser Power He-Man’s tooled parts are unique to the figure

Laser Power He-Man was one of the two remaining deluxe release figures of the vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1988. He had a light up power sword feature powered by his backpack. The light up feature was activated by putting the Power Sword in his hand. By the time this figure was released, the line’s popularity had died out in the United States, so it was released in Italy and Spain. Today, Laser Light He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor are of the highest valued figures of the entire MOTU vintage line and fetch triple digits!

Laser Power He-Man can with two variants of his head. The first was the original vintage head design, but was later changed to resemble Dolph Lundren who was then starring in the Masters of the Universe Motion Picture.

Laser Light Skeletor
And with Laser Power He-Man, of course comes with nemesis, Laser Light Skeletor, also part of the Powers of Grayskull! Also prominently featured on the Eternia package artwork, you can see Laser Light Skeletor battling against Laser Power He-Man! But he too was previously teased on the Camo Khan Card art as well!

Last time we saw a tease for Laser Light Skeletor, was on the back of Camo Khan’s card back art! He can be seen multiple times illustrated throughout the comic. He is seen shooting out his laser beam, sitting on his throne and commanding his evil henchmen Camo Khan to attack! One of the rarest of the original vintage action figures, Laser Light Skeletor is a sought after a very expensive vintage figure to acquire. If Mattel were to release him in the Origins line, I think fans would be totally over the moon with excitement!

Laser Light Skeletor was one of the two remaining deluxe release figures of the vintage Masters of the Universe line in 1988. He had light up eyes and a light up hand. The light up feature was activated by lifting his right arm, and his havoc staff was semitranslucent, so it was supposed to lit up while he held it in his right hand. By the time this figure was released, the line’s popularity had died out in the United States, so it was released in Europe. Today, Laser Light He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor are of the highest valued figures of the entire MOTU vintage line and fetch triple digits!

The Giants
The Mattel team today talked about releases for 2 more releases. “He-Ro along with 2 additional releases throughout the year will debut the most iconic characters in the Powers of Grayskull for the first time in the Origins line.” Could they have been discussing the giants? Mattel is no stranger to figures/ dolls of this size. If they make these, will they have their classic rooted hair? Mattel is no stranger to rooted hair as they are the experts with their Barbie line! Also in the vintage She-Ra figures, so if we do ever get these giants, will they have rooted hair? We shall see!
Tytus
Tytus, one of the last produced characters of the Vintage Masters of the Universe Line, and one of two giants, is prominently featured on the front of the card back art whelding his giant hammer! Both Giants, Tytus and Megator are both illustrated on Camo Khan’s card back art, so could Mattel be planning to release their two Powers of Grayskull giants? Can’t wait to find out!
According to Wiki Grayskull:
Tytus is a giant aligned with the forces of good. He is a contemporary of King Grayskull and He-Ro from the Preternian era, when the Ancients were threatened by the Snake Men. The character was developed for Mattel‘s “The Powers of Grayskull toy line, a spinoff of the declining Masters of the Universe franchise that would explore the heroes and villains of prehistoric Eternia. However, plans for the line were scrapped, and Tytus was only made available in Europe as one of the last figures under the Masters of the Universe brand. As a result, he appears in little (if any) of the 1980s fiction, and is among the most obscure characters in the franchise.
Tytus | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom

The vintage Tytus action figure can be see below, and was only released in Italy and Spain. The original box art for the Tytus shows him battling against King Hiss along with He-Ro. It also describes his role in the world of Preternia. How cool would it be to get a Tytus in the Origins line with rooted hair!
We already know we are getting King Hiss, who was revealed at SDCC, so are we also going to get one of my personal favorites, He-Ro? I would to see an Origins version of the unproduced He-Ro figure with Vac Metal chest armor!

Megator
Could Magator be one of the 2 “Iconic” characters coming later this year? Imagine the possibilities! Megator, was the second of the two giants last produced for the Vintage Masters of the Universe Line. Megator was illustrated on both the card backs for Lord Gr’asp and Camo Khan’s card art. On Terroar’s card back, he is standing next to Turbodactyl with Strobo riding on him. It’s hard to make out who is riding him there, but it looks like it could be! You can see Megator prominently featured on the front of the Camo Khan card back art spinning his giant spiked mace! Tytus and Megator are both illustrated here, so could Mattel be planning to release their two Powers of Grayskull giants? Only time will tell, but it is so exciting to see them here

Megator, evil Giant Destroyer was one of the last vintage Masters of the Universe characters to be released in 1988. One of two giants, Megator and Titus, the two rarest of the MOTU vintage figures, was released only in Europe, primarily in Italy. Originally designed to be part of the spin off “Powers of Grayskull” line, Megator and Titus were still released with the Masters of the Universe logos on their packaging. Megator, the green giant evil warrior stands 15″ tall and came with real rooted hair. He included a spring-loaded right leg for a kicking action feature, and he came with a spiked ball and chain.
