Most recently, the official images and preorder listings for Modulok have gone up on online retailer sites in Europe first, so it is great to finally pin down the Amazon listing for when he comes in Stock and goes up for preorder! We also have an update on one other online retailer who will be putting up Modulok for preorder! Entertainment Earth and BBTS, according to an anonymous source, will also be getting the Beast of the Thousand Bodies and teaming up with Amazon to sell this figure and make it more widely available. It remains to be seen who will be putting up Modulok for preorder but we expect the usual suspects and Entertainment Earth is definitely one of them. Amazon U.S. Details and Listing

Amazon is also referring to Modulok as a Cartoon Collection figure but this could be a mistake by Mattel as this looks like the “vintage” MOTU Origins figure:

  • This Origins Cartoon Collection Modulok figure will bring back fond memories of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra, Princess of Power episodes from the ’80s with its content-accurate look.
  • 34 removable parts provide a thousand mix and match possibilities! There are even enough pieces to create 2 complete creatures.
  • This MOTU Origins toy is a modern execution of the vintage look of the evil shape-changing monster at 5.5-inch scale with modern posability. A tool is included to assist in removing ball joints from sockets.
  • This figure of the Evil Horde-affiliated character, formerly known as bizarre scientist Galen Nycroft, also comes with 2 blasters that can be used separately or combine into 1 deluxe weapon!
  • Fans will want to collect all the Cartoon Collection figures to form a nostalgic showcase that evokes the childhood wonder of the 1980s.

Amazon CA Details and Listing

Amazon Canada also has the product listing for Modulok, which you can access here.

During SDCC 2024, Modulok was revealed in a separate section from the Mattel Creations exclusive reveals. Modulok is spec’d out to be an Amazon exclusive, according to a Mattel rep in the SDCC 2024 booth. The most distinctive feature of Modulok is his modularity, hence the name. The vintage figure came with multiple interchangeable parts, including heads, torsos, arms, legs, and tails and we expect nothing less from his MOTU Origins design. These parts can be assembled in various combinations to create different creature forms. We are eager to see the packaging as Modulok was sold in a distinctive box, rather than the standard blister card used for most MOTU figures. The box showcased the figure’s modularity, displaying some of the different combinations possible with the parts inside. Like other online retailer exclusives, rest of world websites should be getting preorders for Modulok and the Small Tiny Toy Store, an online retailer based in Germany, has put Modulok up for preorder! The Funky Toy Junkie and The Whole Shebang has also put the figure up for preorder! We also have some interesting information about Modulok’s exclusivity to share from an anonymous source!

MOTU Origins Modulok Details and Release Date

According to an anonymous source and preorder information we’ve seen on The Whole Shebang website, the MOTU Origins Modulok release date is set for January 2025. Modulok will also be available to several online retailers! At SDCC 2024, the Mattel said that the MOTU Origins Modulok is an Amazon exclusive, but what we learned is that Amazon will be teaming up with a few other retailers to make this more widely available. It remains to be seen who will be putting up Modulok for preorder but we expect the usual suspects and Entertainment Earth is definitely one of them. What remains to be seen is if other online retailers like Toystlkr, and Big Bad Toy Store also get preorders but we suspect they will.

Cartoon Collection or “Vintage” MOTU Origins?

An interesting detail found in the preroder from The Whole Shebang is that this version of Modulok is referenced as a Cartoon Collection figure! While this could be a mistake, this version was in the Cartoon Collection display at SDCC 2024 but it looks like the vintage MOTU Origins figure so only time will tell if we are getting a true Cartoon Collection version of Modulok.

Here is the description from The Whole Shebang, calling out that Mattel is labeling this version of Modulok, Cartoon Collection:

Official Images

Some official images the Masters of the Universe Modulok have been floating around the net! Revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2024, the Evil Beast of a Thousand Bodies looks amazing and the box pays homage to Modulok’s vintage box. The box front is a nice blend of the old style box with the figure on display front and center in a nice window display. The box says that he comes 34 pieces to create 1000+ monsters, which is exactly like the vintage design. Modulok has yet to go up for preorder in the U.S. but the Small Tiny Toy Store in Germany has put him up, which we have linked below. Huge thanks to masterversal_toyhunter and toyhuntershollow for the heads up! Check out the Modulok Masters of the Universe Origins official images of the box front, figure, and shipper box! We also have an in-hand image!

Modulok SDCC 2024 Reveal

Although Modulok was in the Cartoon Collection display, he will be an Amazon exclusive! Modulok is primarily red, with his body parts featuring various textures and shapes that resemble a combination of insect and alien anatomy. He has multiple heads, each with distinct faces, and his limbs are muscular with clawed hands and feet. His overall design is meant to be monstrous and intimidating although he did play a role as scientist in the Filmation series.

Here are some closeups of his tail piece as well as a cool Horde shield and his blasters. We hope these are not all of the accessories that Modulok comes with as that would be disappointing! We need the Evil Beast of a Thousand bodies to come with everything the vintage figure came with!
