MOTU Core Wave 2 Masters of the Universe Official Images
Mattel has released the full set of official images for the MOTU Core Wave 2 Masters of the Universe movie figures, and we finally get a clean, polished look at all three characters in the assortment: Skeletor, Skel-Knight, and Mekaneck. Collectors who followed our Mattel Creators Breakfast booth tour from Toy Fair 2026 already got an early peek at both Skeletor and Skel-Knight on display, but seeing the full official photography with proper lighting and detail really lets you appreciate what Mattel is doing with this movie-driven line. Skeletor looks absolutely stunning in these shots, and I love how the sculpt captures the film’s design language while still feeling unmistakably like the Lord of Destruction we all grew up with. Skel-Knight brings a fresh addition to the Eternian battlefield that feels right at home alongside the rest of the roster, and then there’s Mekaneck, who rounds out the wave as the kind of deep cut character choice that makes this line feel like it’s being built with collectors in mind rather than just hitting the obvious picks and calling it a day. The level of detail across all three figures suggests Mattel is really leaning into making these Core figures feel substantial on the shelf, and going from those initial Toy Fair glimpses to these crisp official images really bring out all of the details. We have the full gallery below and and this wave is shaping up to be a strong follow-up to what we saw in Wave 1.
Skeletor
Skeletor wears a deep purple hooded cloak over his blue skin, with layered armor plating on his loincloth and a small red gem set into his chest harness. He carries the Havoc Staff featuring green gem eyes and curving grey horns.

The sculpt on Skeletor’s boots shows some nice battle-worn edges along the tops, matching the ragged hemline of his cape. His belt features an ornate skull buckle with detailed scrollwork carved into the surrounding panels.

The purple cloak has a beautifully sculpted braided seam running down the center of the back, with deep fabric folds that give the soft goods a convincing sense of drape and weight. The Havoc Staff’s shaft has a nice gunmetal finish with segmented ridges near the ram skull headpiece.

Skeletor’s yellow skull face is framed tightly by the purple hood, with deep-set hollow eye sockets and a row of defined teeth sculpted into a permanent snarl. The bracer on his forearm has ornate carved detailing that matches the texture of the chest harness and shoulder trim.

Skel-Knight
The card art features a cosmic purple and orange backdrop with He-Man and Skeletor flanking opposite sides, framing the blister window. A small illustrated vignette of Skel-Knight in action appears near the bottom of the card, showing him in his full armor with sword in hand.

Clad in grey armor with pale, vein-like tendrils running across the chest plate, Skel-Knight carries a bronze-colored sword with ornate detailing along the blade. The tattered black skirt has a great sculpted texture, with each strip looking frayed and worn at the edges.

The sculpt on Skel-Knight’s helmet shows a skull-like face underneath, with sunken dark eye sockets and a skeletal jaw that blends into the pointed grey hood. I like how the gold and greenish accents on the armor’s midsection contrast against the muted grey, adding some depth to the overall color palette.

Armed with his bronze sword held across the torso, the figure’s black gauntlets and segmented grey arm armor have a nice contrast between the two materials. The sculpted wrinkles and tears on the lower skirt really sell the weathered, undead knight look, with the frayed ends almost touching the grey boots beneath.

The back of the armor features a sculpted emblem with a beast-like face etched into the upper torso plate, finished in a pale yellowish tone that stands out against the grey. The lower skirt wraps fully around the figure with consistent frayed detailing all the way to the back, and the boots underneath have a subtle sculpted texture.

Mekaneck
The card art features a cosmic purple and orange split design with He-Man and Skeletor flanking the sides, while a detailed illustration of Mekaneck in his movie design fills the lower portion. His silver mechanical neck and red helmet with green visor are prominently featured in the artwork.

Mekaneck features a blue suit with a red chest armor piece that has sculpted venting detail across the front. He comes with two silver neck extensions and a compact silver blaster, while his dark brown boots and gunmetal paint apps add some nice contrast to the bright blue and red color scheme.

Outfitted with one of his neck extensions, Mekaneck’s mechanical neck piece has a nice segmented silver sculpt that elevates the red helmet well above the shoulders. The silver kneecaps and black belt buckle are small touches that break up the blue suit nicely.

Clad in his movie suit, Mekaneck holds the silver blaster with his black-gloved hand, and the red chest armor sits snugly over the blue bodysuit with a clean fit. The green triangular visor on his red helmet catches the eye, with just a sliver of skin tone peeking out beneath it.

The figure is posed with fists clenched and no accessories equipped, giving a clean look at the overall proportions and color blocking. I like how the dark brown boots have a subtle sculpted buckle detail near the top that adds a utilitarian feel to the design.

From the back, the red chest armor shows a sculpted face-like design with vented slits near the shoulder blades, which is a cool detail you wouldn’t catch from the front. The segmented gunmetal wrist guards and silver belt have a utilitarian look that pairs well with the overall military-style suit.
