Despara MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Official Images & Preorder

In a surprise twist worthy of Etheria’s darkest secrets, Mattel has just dropped a tantalizing teaser that has MOTU Origins fans buzzing—Despara is coming to the MOTU line as a Mattel Creations exclusive! For those deep in the lore, Despara is one of the most compelling and complex characters to emerge from the Masters of the Universe mythos. First introduced in the DC Comics continuity, Despara is the dark alter ego of Princess Adora, brainwashed and raised by Hordak to become a ruthless Force Captain of the Evil Horde. Long before she reclaimed her identity as She-Ra, Despara was feared across the galaxy, clad in imposing black armor and carrying out Hordak’s will with chilling precision. Official images have been revealed and they are stunning! She’ll be available for preorder in the U.S. on May 24, 2025 starting at 8am on Mattel Creations! As a loyal servant of the Horde, Despara is known for her formidable combat skills and dedication to Hordak. She comes with:

• Interchangeable heads with Adora face and Hordak-style mask  
• Plastic cape includes holders for her two swords 
• Also equipped with body and skirt armour 

The last time we saw her was in the Classics line, and now we’ve brought her to the Origins line in time for the 40th anniversary of She-Ra: Princess of Power. Which is fitting, since (spoiler alert!) Despara was born as Princess Adora, the alter ego of She-Ra and the twin sister of He-Man, who helped her discover her true identity.  

She also comes with a mini comic entitled Phantoms of Despara!

Despara Tease

This reveal marks her first appearance in the Origins line, and if this tease and the previous box art tease on Hurricane Hordak’s package is any indication, we’re in for an epic release that brings a deep cut character to the line. The figure is dropping on May 24, 2025 and, after a few failed attempts at guessing what this figure could be, we are excited that she is joining the line! Mattel officially announced:

During this early access window, limited units will be made available to Club Grayskull members. Beginning May 25, 2025, at 9:00am PT, the figure will be available to the general public.

Despara Box Art Tease

With the reveal of the back of the box of the Mattel Creations exclusive Hurrican Hordak deluxe figure, we get to see the art on the back of the box and it is chockablock full of teases! We can see a cool scene that features Hurricane Hordak front and center with his bola and Despara, Dragstor, and the new characters that were featured on Modulok’s box art! We believe the green character could be Bug Eye, a deep cut concept from the Masters of the Universe Classics era created by the amazing and talented Axel Gimenez, but he confirmed that is not is this Instagram post! We can’t wait to see and hear what the new character’s name will be once he (hopefully) makes it into plastic form. According to an unverified list of Mattel Creations 2025 exclusives, Dragstor is slotted to be released this year so it’s exciting to him teased again on box art! Despara MOTU Revolution Concept Unmasked

It appears that Mattel has figured out a way to bring the Princess of Power back on screen but in a very different form. Despara, according, is the evil alter ego of She-Ra and, in the final scene of the Masters of the Universe Revolution part 1 Netflix series, we see the arrival of She-Ra, a character once thought to bhat we thought would never see the light of day on screen in a MOTU cartoon. The Princess of Power, otherwise known as, Adora, is the twin sister of He-Man and an amazing warrior. Kenzo’s Creations, the talented customizer who brought us our first look at the Cosmic Enforcer-Lyn MOTU Revolution concept, is back at it again with his latest Despara concept in MOTU Origins form. Paying homage to the end scene in the Masters of the Universe Revolution series, Kenzo gives his vision as to what Despara looks like under her mask. Before you read any further, be sure to subscribe to Kenzo’s YouTube Channel and follow him on Instagram. Kenzo knocked it out of the park with his Despara concept from the Masters of the Universe Revolution Netflix series! Although we did not see the alter ego of She-Ra’s face in the series, Kenzo drew inspiration from the comics and the MOTU Classics line!

Leaning into the concepts, Despara features a soft look on the face with black markings under her eyes. The armor has a layered look on the shoulders, which gives the figure depth and dimension.

Despara MOTU Revolution Concept Masked

As we saw in the MOTU Revolution Netflix series, the last few scenes featured Despara with her Hordak inspired helmet. The helmet is painted in a way that brings out the horned details that are on her helmet.

The details on the two swords are outstanding! The crossguards feature a horde symbol with sculpted details. The paint app is made of reds, blacks, and a bone white for the helmet color.

Using the legs from the Masters of the WWE Universe Chyna, Kenzo did an amazing job recreating her lower half of her uniform. Using black paint, Kennzo also added the markings for her uniform.

Here is Kenzo sculpting and painting the lower torso of Chyna, which will mate with the upper torso.

She also features a hard plastic red cape and you can see details on the shoulder armor from the back of the figure too.
