Man-At-Arms Cartoon Collection MOTU Origins In Hand Images

Special thanks to Julian Magnat for sending in hand images of Man-At-Arms from the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection line! Man-At-Arms was the only figure to only show up for sale on October 4, 2023 on Amazon so we believe he’s an exclusive. That said, Paulmart had recently put him up for preorder but that store tends to get exclusives as well! First impressions of the Man-At-Arms Cartoon Collection are mighty impressive! It’s great to see in hand images as you can see different angles of the figure and we can also see how the paint apps came out as some of the figures have slight differences from the official images. Man-At-Arms looks amazing holding his mace and the armor looks like it has a slight texture to it.
The Stasis Ray sculpt and paint app came out beautifully! It is highly detailed and pays homage to the device Man-At-Arms uses in the Dragon Invasion Filmation episode. The paint app looks to be more of a metallic blue, similar to the paint app on the helmet. The oversized shoulder armor covers most of the upper arm and you can see the muscle packed forearm!
Looking at the back of the figure, we can see the contact points that keep the armor on the figure and the back of the helmet.
Man-At-Arms Card Art Behind the Scenes
The amazingly talented fetch.franciscoetchart revealed the behind the scenes card art for Man-At-Arms, completing the first two waves of figures from the Cartoon Collection. He-Man, Beast Man, and Skeletor for the inaugural Masters of the Universe Origins Cartoon Collection line. Today, he takes collectors behind the scenes showing sketches and how the art goes from concept to production!

Presented by LOS GUERREROS DEL PODER @manuel_eduardo_caritas@fetch.franciscoetchart.” Fetch is one of the most amazing artists and we are so happy he is sharing his process with his fans! It’s amazing to see the behind the scenes art concepts because we can see the creative process at work and it’s rare for designers to give fans a glimpse at how the sausage is made. He’s been amazing with letting fans get peaks at the process, which makes amazing line all that more more special! In the image below, we can see the first concept for Man-At-Arm’s card art, which looks different from the end result but still keeps the same vibe!
In the final pencils sketch, we’ve gone from concept to work of art but the illustration needs the colors to create the iconic scenes, and teases, we all know and love!

Man-At-Arms Card Art Reveal
Roy Juarez has released the digital card art for the upcoming Man-At-Arms MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection figure! This brand new line, revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2023, brings the characters we know and love from the Filmation Masters of the Universe cartoon to life in plastic form! Today, Roy revealed the card art that is featured on Man-At-Arms card back. What is also great about this new MOTU Origins sub-line is that we get a whole new array of card art teases! Speaking of which, Ram Man was teased on Man-At-Arms cardback!

The great thing about these new card backs besides the cool cross sell and card art, they tell you what episode specific accessory the figure comes with as well as which Filmation cartoon episode it came from. Here you can see beautiful artwork featuring Man-At-Arms with using his Stasis Ray against an angry dragon, as seen in “The Dragon Invasion” cartoon episode! Man-At-Arms comes with his trusty Mace too!

Getting up close and personal with the card art, Roy and team did an amazing job illustrating this whole seen and the best part is that Ram Man was teased on the card art!
We hope a Cartoon Collection Ram Man is in the works and will include his goofy look he always had on his face in the Filmation cartoon.
“The Dragon Invasion”
According to The Dragon Invasion | Wiki Grayskull | Fandom:
In Dragon Valley, Skeletor and Beast Man steal several of the Mother Dragon’s eggs. When the Mother Dragon attacks, Beast Man’s powers prove not to work on her, and Skeletor destroys the ground beneath the beast, causing her to fall into a ravine. Meanwhile at the Royal Palace, Orko is entertaining the royal family during dinner, when a crashing sound is heard outside. The heroes investigate, and find a dragon’s egg within the palace grounds. Before their eyes, the egg hatches and a baby dragon appears, growing to full size in a matter of seconds. and attacking the palace with gouts of flame. Teela takes the King and Queen to safety while Adam transforms, despite the falling debris, into He-Man. He and Battle Cat tackle the dragon with the help of the returning Teela and Ram Man. Man-At-Arms arrives with his new Stasis Ray just in time, freezing the dragon.
At Snake Mountain Skeletor revels in the chaos as baby dragons grow to full size, due to Skeletor’s growth serum, all across Eternia. Teela and Orko take the Wind Raider and use the Stasis Ray to freeze another attacking dragon. Stratos reports that a dragon has invaded Avion and requests their aid. Skeletor and his Evil Warriors journey to Castle Grayskull under the cover of the attacks; upon arrival Skeletor challenges the Sorceress. With the aid of the Dragon Pearl, an artifact which magnifies Evil-Lyn’s magic a hundredfold, they overwhelm the Sorceress and trap her within the pearl.
He-Man and his friends arrive at the castle just in time for Skeletor to seal Grayskull with a force field. He-Man has the idea of uniting the dragons to break the force field, so he and Teela head to Snake Mountain to confront Beast Man; by defeating him, all the dragons are now freed. He-Man sends Teela back to Grayskull with the dragons; the dragons unite and thrust their collective fire against Skeletor’s force field, destroying it.
The Heroic Warriors attack Skeletor, but he escapes through a portal and retrieves the Dragon Pearl from Snake Mountain, where he had hidden it. He-Man confronts him, and the two battle outside the fortress; Skeletor uses the energy of the Pearl to enlarge himself. When, in the heat of the battle, he falls off the edge of a cliff, He-Man grabs his hand and saves his life. A dragon surprises Skeletor, and he drops the Dragon Pearl into Blood Falls. The villain makes a getaway, while the dragon dives into the falls and rescues the pearl. The dragon’s fire burns through the Dragon Pearl and frees the Sorceress. He-Man and Zoar return to Castle Grayskull, where the dragons walk through a portal to return to their home.

Ram Man Tease
The action figures for Ram Man span the years 1983 to the present day! Getting his start in the MOTU vintage line, Ram Man’s design has stayed fairly consistent although the MOTU Classics versions really beefed him up! It will be amazing to see what a Cartoon Collection version of Ram Man would look like but for now let’s see all of the figures through the years.
According to the Wiki Grayskull, “Although Ram Man had been depicted as large and aggressive in his mini-comic appearance, the 1980s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation depicts him as a small, dwarfish figure, which is closer in appearance to his action figure with it’s legs retracted.In order to make the character more child-friendly for the sake of the show’s intended audience, Ram Man’s aggressiveness is toned down for the series. He is portrayed generally as a comical character, slow and dim-witted with an almost childlike mentality, but also strong-hearted and easily likeable. He often appears alongside Stratos in early episodes, and later episodes flesh out his character more, particularly the season 2 episode Not So Blind, which shows a degree of humanity in his mostly slapstick personality. In this episode he admits to being slow on the uptake but not necessarily “Dumb”. Another notable moment for Ram Man is the episode House of Shokoti Part I, in which he gives a memorable moral at the end of the episode, telling kids not to hit things with their head like he does in case they hurt themselves. Also in this episode, Ram Man irritates Shokoti by constantly mispronouncing her name, calling her “Shipoopi” among other things. This Ram Man also often has other cartoonish features such as his legs actually uncoiling like springs on occasion and making “boing” sounds when he used his abilities.”
Vintage 1983
Masters of the Universe Ram Man released in 1983 as part of wave 2 of action figures from Mattel. Although Ram Man had been depicted as large and aggressive in his mini-comic appearance, the 1980s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation depicts him as a small, dwarfish figure, which is closer in appearance to his action figure with it’s legs retracted.
MOTU 200x
Ram-Man was featured in the modern revival of Masters of the Universe, and his portrayal in the contemporary series is something of a mixture between his Filmation portrayal and his original mini-comic portrayal. Here he is once again drawn as a large and bulky rather than a dwarfish character, and is actually larger than even He-Man in size. In episodes were he removes his helmet, he appears to have a metal plate on top of his head. Instead of leaping at opponents from great distances, Ram-Man runs into them or jumps short distances. The “boing” sound is removed, and his legs never “uncoil” like springs. Ram-Man rarely suffers ill effects from his rams in this series. He is the only Master who routinely fights unarmed. Although this series depicts him in a more macho fashion more in-keeping with the original concept of the character, his slow-wittedness and comic appeal is left intact.
MOTU Classics v1
The MOTU Classics version of Ram Man was released in 2013 and is one chunky and hefty looking figure. They poured a ton of plastic on this figure and it is the most robust Ram Man created! He features a darker roman style outfit with very large and pronounced armor! He came with his signature axe and his legs featured a small amount of articulation.
His bio reads: Growing up just outside the Vine Jungle, Krass’ village was always under threat from the savage Beastmen. During a particularly brutal attack, he donned his family’s ancient mystical armor that magically absorbs raw force. Using it to ram into his enemies and drive off their attack earned Krass the nickname “Ram Man.” These actions were quickly detected by Skeletor who recruited him in a scheme to ram through the Jaw Bridge of Castle Grayskull. Realizing the error of his ways after seeing Skeletor attack He-Man, Ram Man switched sides, helping to defeat the Evil Lord of Destruction and save the Castle. He soon became a core member of the Masters of the Universe using his iron-like body as a battering ram against evil!
MOTU Classics v2
Super7 eventually got handed the reigns for the MOTU Classics line (along with the Four Horsemen working on the design), and they created rebooted renditions of some of the most core and popular characters via the “Ultimate” line. They made He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Faker, and Ram Man that were released in new packaging and a new paint apps like Ram Man, which is a nod to the mini comics version where he appeared in orange.
MOTU Origins
The Masters of the Universe Origins Ram Man was a deluxe release and the Origins figure really looks like the vintage figure. He is pretty much the same size and painted similarly and he feels faithful to the vintage release but with some improved articulation, especially in the knees.
Man-At-Arms Official Images
Man-At-Arms was the most illusive of the figures to locate on preorder day but we eventually pinned him down on Amazon, which we are assuming is an exclusive given he is not on any other online toy website! We are not sure if Amazon has absolute exclusivity or if it will be timed, like some of the previous releases of MOTU Origins figures.
Man-At-Arms looks amazing and we are digging the thick mustache! His helmet and armor also look just like the Filmation cartoon!
MAA comes in his classic yellow chest, shoulder, and wrist armor and his very cool stasis ray and mace!
He looks great raising his mace and it’s great that he has amor on both of his arms!
