Masters of the Universe Origins Wave 9 Card Art

Axel Gimenez posted images of the forthcoming Masters of the Universe Origins Wave 9 Card art which means more future figure teases!
Hot on the heals of a lucky collector finding MOTU Origins Wave 9 in Malaysia, Axel Gimenez posted the card art for the forthcoming Wave 9’s card on his Facebook page!
200x He-Man
Here we have card back artwork for 200x He-Man! This version of He-Man comes from the MYP Masters of the Universe cartoon and toy line from 2002. We can see the young Prince Adam transforming into Mike Young’s 200X He-Man, complete with the 200x style sword of power! He Man has a fierce look on his face as if yelling out ” I have the power!” great sparks of energy are emerging from his body with a beautiful blue Eternian sky in the background! To the left is the IN HAND image of the 200x He-Man, as we just covered in our Masters of the Universe Origins Wave 9 Figures In Hand article. Mattel did an amazing job paying homage to that style of figure in an Origins buck! He-Man’s harness has a leathery look and feel to it and the unique chest armor piece is right in the middle with red and gold paint accents. The belt that is integrated into the loin cloth has a studded look and feel and it also pays tribute to the MYP figure. He also has a brand new head sculpt with a more wind swept look to his hair, completing the 200x look.

200x Skeletor
Here we have card back artwork for 200x Skeletor! You can see Skeletor is drawn in that 200X style with a more stylized head and the large shin guard armor. He is shooting a burst of energy from his classic looking Havoc Staff toward a huge rock formation, while Whiplash, Evil Lyn, LOP Beast Man, Mini Comic Trap Jaw and Clawful watch on! There is a rocky mountain scene in the background with a beautiful Eternian sunset sky. To the left is the IN HAND image of the 200x Skeletor in package which we cover in our previous article as mentioned above. Following suit with the 200x He-Man from the MYP series comes 200x Skeletor. He is based on the Masters of the Universe 200x Skeletor figure. This version of Skeletor features all new sculpting for his Power Sword, head sculpt, loin and chest armor, and shin armor. The new Origins version of 200x Skeletor is looks just amazing! The closed hood design in the head sculpt mirrors that of the MYP version but is brighter and matches the MOTU Origins style quite well! The packaged Havoc Staff is reused from previous versions of Skeletor, but all in all, it stills look great and compliments the figure nicely!

Pig Head
The card back artwork for Pig Head is spectacular!!! We can see Pig Head wheedling his spiked mace in some sort of cave, with the image of Sun Man’s father transforming him into Pig Head from the Mattel Creations Sun-Man packaging in the background. Pig Head is emanating some energy from his body and the magical chalice in the cave beside him. Coming straight from the Comic on the Mattel Creations Sun-Man packaging, Prince Sunni is to fulfil his destiny as Sun-Man to protect the world from Pig Head who himself used to be a vile prince named Zegor, only to be transformed into that awful Pig-Head as punishment! Then the battle for the chalice that controls the power of the sun begins! The chalice as you see in the cave near Pig Head is the object of which he and Sun-Man are struggling over. Here we can see an IN HAND Image of the packaged Wicked Enemy of Sun Man himself, Pig Head! The figure is more or less a direct translation of the vintage figure but with much brighter colors. The pinks, greens, and blues definitely pop more on this figure and brighter, which goes along with the other MOTU Origins figures. Pig Head has an interesting green skin color, boar like tusks protruding from his mouth and a big pig-like snout for a nose. He wears a teal-colored helmet with pink horns, pink wrist bracers, teal colored chest, burgundy chest strap and matching burgundy belt with red accents. His light-yellow shorts have a scaly texture, unlike the loin cloths of the rest of the MOTU gang. He wears teal colored boots with pink furry tops. Pig-Head comes with his teal spiked mace and pink and teal colored shield. Pig-Head is a very interesting character in the Rulers of the Sun, as he is the only non-humanoid beast-like creature in the group.

Mantenna
We saved the best for last!!! Mantenna has got to be the most anticipated of this wave! Axel did a freakin amazing job on this card back art!!! Here was can see Mantenna blasting his electric eye beams to none other than…. wait for it…. drum roll please………… TUNG LASHOR and RATTLOR with KING HISS watching in all his snake like glory in the background!!!! While Grizzlor and Hordak watch from behind. As we know we already can expect a retail release of Grizzlor. We have reported several leaks artciles, MOTU Origins January 2023 Leaked Figures, More Snake Men coming to Origins in 2023!, and Snake Men coming to MOTU Origins in 2023, where our friends at @canaldosrosmineiros and several other trusted Toy Habits informants have leaked to us that these figures were coming in 2023! Well if we know Mattel, and their M.O, they love to tease their upcoming figures thru card art! All I got say is our informants were all correct!!! Manenna can be seen in his IN HAND image to the left below. The original Mantenna from the vintage line had 4 faux legs, which were actually two legs stuck together but the Origins figure went all out with creating a true four legged sculpt with individual articulation in each leg. The blues are a lot darker in the Origins version, which is consistent with the paint apps for the Origins line. He has an action feature on his head that makes his eyes bulge out, which is very well hidden and baked into the head. He is a really cookey character but he’ll look great next to the Power Con 2021 Filmation style Hordak so you can relive your favorite scenes from the She-Ra Princess of Power cartoon.
