Eternia PlaySet

In a mind-blowing move by Mattel, an Eternia Playset will be coming to Mattel Creations. It is set up and can be seen at this year’s 2022 San Diego Comic Con!!! There are also some new characters that can be seen in the display as well. As Toyhabits predicted in our artwork teaser playset article, there have been so many teased images of the Eternia playset and now HERE IT IS!!! Ok all getting ready to have your mind BLOWN! Here is it! Also you can see that there is a place to park your Wind Raider at the top of Grayskull Tower!

The original Mattel Eternia playset debuted in 1986, with its 3 large towers connected by a monorail system. The Central tower, was the largest of the 3 measuring over 30″, representing the power of good and evil. It had 4 floors inside, a command console, red laser cannon, and a working elevator to take you to the top. The base had stickers on it to represent a moat with some amazing artwork. The main entrance of the Central Tower was shaped like the face of a lion with working arms and claws that could reach out and grab unsuspecting visitors. The working mouth on the lion opened and closed the drawbridge feature. The other two towers were representations of Grayskull Tower and Viper Tower. Grayskull Tower was made of the same green colored craggily stone looking plastic as Castle Grayskull, forming a tall turret. It had a long winding staircase leading to a dungeon below. Viper Tower on the other hand had a cool red snake wrapping around it and a neat landing platform perched on a rock. All connected by a freaking real working monorail!!! It came with countless accessories and provided hours and hours of fun for kids of all ages! I mean this thing was screamy cool all over the place! If you owned one of these as a kid, you were king of the neighborhood!

Eternia Plasyset Revealed

MINDS OFFICIALLY BLOWN!!! We have found an Official Image of the Eternia Playset on Mattel Creations and it’s OFFICIAL people!!! We have the link here but the product page does not load yet!!! MOTU Eternia Playset (mattel.com) The new Eternia Playset looks freakin AMAZING!!!!! A stunning recreation of the vinatge playset with the 3 towers: Grayskull Tower, Viper Tower and Central Tower with the freakin working monorail!!! Mattel conformed that this set will be crowdfunded so we are waiting eagerly to see how much coin we need to drop on this one!

We have also obtained more photos from our friend Chad Trips! Thanks Chad for sending these additional amazing images!!! We can now see more new characters including the Green Skeleton Warriors which we see the Green Glowing Skeletons as we covered in Wun-Dar Card Art Teases New MOTU Origins Characters and also Snake Man He-Man also predicted in our MOTU Origins January 2023 Leaked Figures article. It comes with MOTU Origins He-Man in the standards Origins red rock burst package; New Adventures Galactic Protector He-Man in Origins style with New Adventures cardback; Netflix CGI He-Man in Origins style; and finally 200x He-Man in Origins Style on a new 200X styled cardback. MEGA Powers of Grayskull MOTU SDCC 2022 Exclusive 

As we covered back in May when new Masters of the Universe Mega Construx mini figures were leaked and posted on the Official Mega Construx site (then taken down), we saw the mini figs we speculated that would come with recently launched MEGA Snake Mountain plus two other He-Man and Prince Adam figures! Today Mattel confirmed the MEGA Powers of Grayskull MOTU SDCC 2022 Exclusive as part of their 12 Days of Fandom leading up to San Diego Comic Con 2022! Before we dive into the new set, here are the images that were leaked back in May that showed more of an animated cell shading versions of both Prince Adam and He-Man!

From the unboxing video below, we can see the neat diorama set that this MEGA set comes with making up the side towers of Castle Grauskull. You can also see the “transformation” action feature that works by placing Prince Adam in the Jaw Bridge and turning the lever on the left side, that then flips the platform underneath him over and reveals He-Man, therefore recreating that transformation moment. This is a pretty clever feature by MEGA.

Animated Cell Shaded Prince Adam and He-Man

Prince Adam Comparisons: Again, expect a recoloring for pretty much every aspect of this newer, cell shaded version of Prince Adam! His vest looks like a lighter and there are dark gray and purple markings all over the figure, which is a similar treatment they are giving He-Man. The face sculpt is also different as the Revelation Prince Adam has more of a scowl on his face. As we noted earlier when the mini figures were revealed, we expected this figure to also be from the Revelation line but are unsure where he fits into the grand scheme of things but now we know!

He-Man Comparisons: There have been several He-Man mini figures released for the line but expect different color boots, cuffs, loin cloth, belt, and as you can see, the Power Sword! Upon closer inspection and seeing this figure side by side with a previous version of He-Man, it looks like the newer version has been rolling around in the mud so it will be interesting to see how this turns out in actual plastic! The chest harness design of the symbol is that of the Revelation line so it will be interesting to see how deep they go!

MEGA Powers of Grayskull MOTU SDCC 2022 Exclusive 

As we’ve seen in previous San Diego Comic Con’s, the Mega Construx line down to participate and make exclusives. In fact, the Battle Bones set that came out for SDCC 2019 was pretty amazing! Thanks to the Mattel Creations Instagram page, yo_tengo_el_poder and via the Mega Construx Unboxed website, we have official photos of this new set! As we know, the Mega Construx line has produced Skeletor Heads with mini figures packed with them and it looks like they are expanding into larger sets that are still compact. This looks like the transformation sequence as Prince Adam turns into He-Man dubbed ‘By the Power of Grayskull.’

Here we can take a look at the cool transformation sequence! You can see how the trap door mechanism flips that flips back Prince Adam to reveal He-Man, the most powerful man in the Universe! This looks like such a fun play feature and so creative that they were able to incorporate it.

This set appears to be a diorama as it features the front portion of Castle Grayskull as a build! It would be amazing if the set actually came with the lightning bolts that transformed Prince Adam to He-Man but don’t get your hopes up lol! At least the cool trap door feature “transforms” Prince Adam to He-Man, and that’s freakin rad!

The set has a mysterious gray circular knob on on the left side, which we are assuming will raise and lower the door on Castle Grayskull. It’s cool that the set sits on a bricks stacked 5 high to give it more of a presence.

The box looks like it is a fold out diorama to complete the look of Castle Grayskull, which gives it a very cool look and feel.
