Masters of the Universe Full List of MOTU Trademark Renewals
Looking at Mattel’s MOTU trademark renewals can give us a peak into what might be coming to the Masterverse or the Origins lines!
New figure reveals and speculation has always been a cornerstone at Toy Habits and we are always looking for sources to see what might be coming down the pipeline next! One place to look are Mattel’s trademark renewals as there are character names that have been renewed in the last year that have had figure reveals so it’s exciting to see what Mattel might be up to! So let’s take a look at MOTU Character Trademark Renewals that could be made into figures down the line!

While we don’t know what characters will be created as Masters of the Universe Origins or Masterverse figures, we can take an educated guess as to what characters might be joining a particular sub-line. For example, back in March 2022, we got a leak from CDR that a Galactic Protector He-Man is coming to the Masterverse line and so we can probably say there is a likelihood that more New Adventures of He-Man figures will be made for that line given that both New Adventures Skeletor and Slush Head have been announced. Also, given that Kol-Darr was announced as the first Filmation character to join the Origins line, there is a good chance that other Filmation characters will be joining him in Origins. Right now, we can only speculate that there are more Filmation MOTU Origins figures coming in Waves 15 and 16 based on rumors. Plus, With the plethora of reveals from mid March 2023, there are plenty of figures to last us for at least a couple more years and with the trademark renewals, it gives us hope that the lines will continue strong for many years to come!

Although this is not a guarantee that the characters whose trademark has been renewed, it is fun to speculate as this is the closest source we can tap into for future reveals. In fact, we went back over the last year and combed through the filings and found that several character renewals have resulted in figure reveals for the Maters of the Universe Origins and Masterverse lines. Figures such as Kol-Darr, who was announced at Power Con 2021 as a Mattel Creations exclusive, King Grayskull, who was also revealed at Power Con 2021 and recently was released as a Target exclusive in the Masterverse Revelation line, and Whiplash who was recently revealed as part of the Origins line.

Scareglow: May 29, 2025
Exciting news for fans of the darker corners of Eternia—Scareglow, the spectral specter of Skeletor’s evil warriors, has had his trademark officially renewed, signaling potential plans for his return in one of Mattel’s modern lines. While nothing has been confirmed, the renewal opens the door for a reimagined version in the Masterverse New Eternia line, where classic characters get fresh design twists rooted in early concept art and alterntative designs. Alternatively, Scareglow could be resurrected in the Vintage Collection, staying true to his iconic glow-in-the-dark look that haunted toy shelves in the ’80s. Either way, this move suggests Mattel hasn’t forgotten about one of the most fan-favorite and mysterious characters in the MOTU mythos—and we could be one step closer to seeing him glow again.

Scareglow Tease on Masterverse Ninjor’s Box Art
A vintage style Scareglow can be seen on the right side of New Eternia Masterverse Ninjor’s packaging. He seems to be laughing and standing at the outside of Castle Grayskull! He has his green Halbert staff in his hands and has his signature purple cape.

In 2009, the MOTU Classics Scareglow was released. He was a beautiful homage to the vintage original complete with his Halbert staff and glow in the dark skeleton body with black painted bones. He also came with a key to unlock the secret entrance to Castle Grayskull. We had received an incredible Revelation version of Scareglow early in the line, but it left me wanting more. Taking a look at the MOTU Classics version of Scareglow might help inform us of what he might look like.

Stinkor: May 29, 2025
It looks like the foul-smelling fiend of Eternia might be making a comeback, as Mattel has officially renewed the trademark for Stinkor, the evil master of odors! While there’s no confirmation just yet, this renewal strongly hints at potential plans to bring the character back to toy shelves, possibly through the Masterverse New Eternia line or as part of the fan-favorite Vintage Collection that celebrates the original 1980s designs. Known for his distinct skunk-like appearance and, of course, his infamous patchouli scent, Stinkor remains one of the most unique figures in the MOTU roster. Whether it’s a stylized update or a nostalgic throwback, the renewed trademark is a strong sign that the stench of Stinkor might soon fill collectors’ shelves once more!

Evelyn Morgan Powers: May 12, 2025
Evil-Lyn’s trademark has been officially renewed, and we’ve received word from an anonymous source that she’s set to make a striking return in the Masterverse Vintage Collection line. This upcoming figure is rumored to feature the classic yellow skin tone, paying homage to her original 1980s action figure appearance.

The Evelyn Morgan Powers trademark most recently appeared on the box from the 2023 SDCC exclusive Masterverse Revolution figure.

The List contains the following:

Moss Man: May 12, 2025
Big news for fans of the green guardian of Eternia—Moss Man’s trademark has been officially renewed, and he’s set to return in a big way! Mattel has confirmed that an oversized New Eternia Masterverse version of Moss Man is in the works, slated for release through Mattel Creations. This upcoming figure promises a bold reimagining of the character.

Scorpia: October 31, 2024
Thanks to the Retro Toy Princess for the heads up, Mattel filed to renew the ‘Scorpia’ trademark, who was a character that appeared in the She-Ra and the Princess of Power Filmation cartoon and she was made into a Masters of the Universe Classics figure. In addition to the interesting fact that Scopria’s trademark was renewed, she was also teased on the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Leech card art and the Masterverse Leech box art so it is a toss up whether she will be made for the Cartoon Collection or the Masterverse line but our money is on the Cartoon Collection line. Since this is the 40th anniversary of She-Ra, it would make more sense to have her made for the Cartoon Collection line. Although Scorpia did not appear on the MOTU Origins Modulok box art, her tooling could easily be made with the new characters they are planning for the MOTU Origins line.

Scorpia MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Tease
His package art gives us some really cool teases for Princess of Power characters including Bow, Adora and Scorpia! His package art is a stunning homage to the She-Ra Princess of Power Filmation Episode, “Into Ethera”! Here you can see Adora holding a laser rifle and Leech attacking Bow, while Scorpia is in the background.

Scorpia
Leech’s box is turning out to be the most interesting as we can see a large illustration of him with Scopria and Catra (in cat form) on the front of the box. We also saw Adora teased on the side of the box and we are hoping both figures make it into the line.

Scorpia History
Scorpia is a character from the 1980’s “She-Ra: Princess of Power” cartoon series. She is one of the evil Horde members and serves as the leader of the Horde’s spy network. Scorpia possesses the ability to control scorpions and uses them as her allies in battle. She is known for her loyalty to Hordak, the main antagonist of the series, and is often seen carrying out his orders with unwavering determination. Despite her villainous nature, Scorpia is a complex character who often struggles with her own moral dilemmas and desires for acceptance and approval from others. Overall, Scorpia is a formidable adversary to She-Ra and the other princesses of power in their quest to defeat the evil Horde.

She was made into a figure for the Masters of the Universe Classics line as she was never made in the vintage She-Ra and the Princess of Power cartoon in the 1980’s.

Skeletor: May 6, 2024
One of the most important trademark renewals was made on May 6, 2024, when Mattel renewed the trademark for the Evil Lord of Destruction himself.

Rokkon: February 26, 2024
Just in the nick of time (not really), Mattel filed to renew the Rokkon trademark. Lucky they did not lose this trademark as they just released the Mattel Creations exclusive Rokkon figure as the first “Vintage” MOTU Origins figure to go up for sale since they announced the line moving over to DTC.

Mattel Creations has just released official images and preorder information for the upcoming Rokkon Masters of the Universe Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive! Rokkon is slotted to go up for preorder on February 16, 2024 at 9am on Mattel Creations. If you recall, the “Vintage” MOTU Origins line will be finished off as exclusives! In addition, Rokkon was recently teased on the box art for the Eternia playset. The new images include the card back art for Rokkon, and there are some incredible new figure teases that are getting us very excited! It appears that Mattel is cross teasing more figures for their MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection sub-line, which blew our minds ?! This makes sense since the “Vinage” MOTU Origins line has only a finite set of figures to build out the line! That said, let’s dive in and take a look at the Rokkon Masters of the Universe Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive Official Images and Preorder info!

If you recall, Rokkon was revealed for the MOTU Origins line at SDCC2023! They did an amazing job with Rokkon as he appears to be able to transform into, yes you guessed, a rock!

Rokkon is a youth of the Rock People, and the frequent companion of his mentor Stonedar. The character appeared late in the 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line, and as such appears in relatively few stories, with little consistency.

Masters of the Universe: January 24, 2024
It goes without saying but if Mattel did not file to renew the Masters of the Universe trademark and keep it current, they would up a creek without a paddle. Good thing the lawyers at Mattel are on their toes as they filed for the Masters of the Universe Trademark.

Lord Dactus and Batros: November 15, 2023
On November 15, 2023, Mattel filed to renew the trademark of Lord Dactus, who is the king of the Speleans. He is a friend of King Randor and he was once allies with the Caligars. On the same day, they also filed for the renewal of Batros’ trademark.
Lord Dactus

Lord Dactus first appeared as an articulated action figure in August 2013 as part of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics toyline. He was released as the second figure in the 2013 Club Filmation subscription and was also available for day of sale purchase on Mattycollector.com.

Lord Dactus MOTU Classics Bio
Lord Dactus has a really cool bio that reads: Heroic leader of the Bat-like Speleans who live underground in Subternia, Dactus waged a long war against his former ally Ceratus for possession of Hollow Eternia. After a series of attacks by Skeletor and King Hssss, Dactus was convinced by King Randor to put aside his differences with the Caligars and work together as members of his new Eternian Council. A born warrior, he often leaves his diplomatic duties to fight on the battlefield as a Master of the Universe. During one adventure he traveled with Chief Carnivus and Clamp Champ to free Princess Vess from Skeletor’s clutches. Dactus’ massive wings and sharp fangs give him a frightening appearance which he uses to scare off and then attack the evil warriors.
Lord Dactus Card Art Tease
Here we can see King Randor in all his glory, in a commanding pose with members of his court and allies standing behind him. There is a Eternian Palace Guard with King Chooblah next to him. Then we can see Buzz Off and Stratos in the back ground. There is a woman character and a knight character, which are new and we have not seen before. Then we have Lord Dactus standing prominently next to King Randor.

This figure was created for the MOTU Classics line and are seeing more an more figures from that line end up in the Origins line. Having a winged figure buck added to the possible list Origins figures would make it possible for other winged figures to make it to the line, like Draego-Man.

Batros
With Mattel’s introduction of the Cartoon Collection MOTU Origins figures at SDCC 2023, we’ve been wondering where they might take the line! So far, the future is looking great for the Cartoon Collection as sources have told us that The Collector vehicle is in the works and She-Ra and Bow are coming to the line! Batros, dubbed the evil master of theft. Since Batros appeared in the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon, he would make a great addition to the line! On November 15, 2023, Mattel filed to renew the tradmark for Bastros and, on the same day, they also filed to renew the trademark of Lord Dactus.

This crafty crook from the dark side of Eternia steals all the books, but its not his thirst for knowledge that motivates him its his thirst for power! Wicked, winged and willing to scheme with Skeletor, this Filmation series fiend comes with a mace.Batros BioReal Name: WileyDeep in the Dark Hemisphere resides a treacherous race of half-man half-bat pirates–none more sinister than Batros, a shadowy mercenary-for-hire. In one adventure, Batros conspired with the Overlord of Evil to filch all royal records and books from the Eternos Library. Batrso Cartoon Collection Custom Concept
There are so many talented customizers who can provide us with view into what a Batros Cartoon Collection figure could look like.

On Lulu Berlu’s product page, they describe this custom: “Another great villain from the original cartoon comes to life as an authentically-styled custom action figure! Batros has been created using his appearance in the cartoon episode, “The Great Books Mystery” as inspiration and translated into a slightly more monstrous, more imposing, more bat-like rendition to fit in with the original design sensibility of the original MOTU toy line. Great attention to detail has been paid; even down to providing a detailed sculpt for his bat logo instead of the more animation-friendly flat design. He features an originally sculpted face and sculpted armor, newly tooled hands with slightly oversized, bat-like arms. He has a real fabric cape with elastic straps for the neck and wrists. His working power-punch action has been added to by crafting his hand to be able to hold and actually throw a special snake weapon that really glows in the dark (simulating the energy snakes he would blast from his hands as seen in the cartoon)! Also, he’s the FIRST Barbarossa Art Customs art piece which features the “peg-disk” articulation for the leg joints (i.e., no rubber bands!) He fits in perfectly with the original line! This figure’s details, weapon, action feature and choice of colors have all been executed with vintage sensibilities keenly in mind. Batros comes sealed on a custom card with multiple pieces of original art. Uniquely-created and hand-crafted by the artist, this is a very limited run for the adult collector.”

Batros Filmation Appearance: The Great Books Mystery (synopsis by Wiki Grayskull)
Orko has lost the book about unicorns that he intended to give Prince Adam for his birthday. Man-At-Arms and Teela are dubious that the book would simply disappear, but later Professor Smallen reports to King Randor that all the books in the ancient archives have disappeared. The king sees this as a great tragedy, since the kingdom’s books are the information at the foundation of civilization. Randor summons Adam and Man-At-Arms, who quickly conclude that a sinister plot is afoot and He-Man is needed. Adam makes excuses himself and then transforms himself and Cringer into He-Man and Battle Cat before they consult the Sorceress. Meanwhile, Teela and Orko follow their own lead–a lone book left laying on the south road out of the kingdom.

In his hideout at the Temple of the Sun, Batros congratulates himself for having the wisdom to recognize the value of the books he has stolen. The people of Eternia, he reasons, will be so desperate to regain the books that they will force Randor to abdicate and make him the new ruler. Batros does not suspect that he is being admired from afar by Skeletor, watching from Snake Mountain. Beast Man doesn’t comprehend Batros’s scheme, which simply reinforces Skeletor’s opinion that he needs smarter henchmen. He sends Beast Man and Trap-Jaw to recruit Batros to help him raid Castle Grayskull. At Grayskull, the Sorceress directs He-Man to the Temple to confront Batros. He-Man is surprised to hear that the villain is not staying on the dark side of Eternia; the Sorceress explains that he has come with a thirst for power. He-Man takes the south road into the desert, but Skeletor uses his magic to delay the hero until his lackeys can make his offer to Batros.

Teela and Orko are the first to reach the Temple, but when they locate the books, Batros takes them prisoner. While he gloats about his plan, Trap-Jaw and Beast Man get the drop on him. Although Batros is interested in meeting with Skeletor, he doesn’t appreciate the villains’ attitude, and teaches them a lesson with his magic. While Batros forces Beast Man to escort him back to Snake Mountain, Teela and Orko subdue Trap-Jaw and recover Orko’s unicorn book. When Batros comes face-to-face with Skeletor, they quickly butt heads over which of them will follow the other. Finally Batros agrees to hear Skeletor’s proposal: If they work together to seize Castle Grayskull, Skeletor will have the power to rule the universe, and Batros will be allowed to have Eternia. Within moments, Batros has a plan to take the castle. By the time He-Man and Battle Cat reach the Temple of the Sun, they find the books and Trap-Jaw, but no sign of Batros. Teela and Orko have already returned to the Royal Palace and told Man-At-Arms about Batros’s alliance with Skeletor; he passes the word along to He-Man, who races back to Grayskull.

Batros’s strategy to take the castle is simple: While Beast Man, Mer-Man, and Tri-Klops distract the Sorceress at the front wall, Batros will create a bridge to approach from another direction and outflank her. The plan fails before it can begin when He-Man arrives, sending Battle Cat to handle Beast Man’s team while he faces Skeletor and Batros. When He-Man blocks the villains’ path on Batros’s bridge, Skeletor flees. Batros, however, blasts the bridge out from under the hero, who falls into the bottomless pit surrounding the castle. He-Man catches a rocky outcropping on the way down, though, and surprises Batros by throwing back to the dark side of the planet. Meanwhile, Man-At-Arms, Teela, and Orko return to the Temple of the Sun to recover the books, only to find they’ve disappeared yet again. When He-Man is notified, he heads to Snake Mountain, suspecting that Skeletor has usurped Batros’s original plan. As He-Man and Battle Cat make their way into the mountain, they are almost immediately captured. Once Skeletor thinks he has them helpless he freely gloats about where he is keeping the books; once they have the information they need, though, the heroes easily free themselves and chase Skeletor away. Later, everyone is assembled in the palace to celebrate the safe return of the kingdom’s books, as well as Adam’s birthday. Adam is particularly grateful for Orko’s unicorn book…as well as an assist in blowing out the candles on his cake.
Despara: August 22, 2023
On August 22, 2023, Mattel filed to renew the trademark for Despara, which could mean one of two things! First, they could simply be renewing her trademark so that they do not lose the naming rights for the figure and, second, it could mean that a Despara release for the line is in the works!

Despara
Dark and deviant, she’s the evil alter ego of She-Ra, who is the alter-ego of Adora. Kidnapped as a baby and raised by Hordak, Adora fights for the Horde until twin brother He-Man reveals her true identity. Later, after the defeat of Hordak, the spirit of Horde Prime possesses her and the evil persona of Despara emerges once again. Despara is armed with two swords, battle staff, and an alternate evil head. Her figure was made for the MOTU Classics line and from what we’ve seen from Mattel lately, they are creating figures in the MOTU Origins line based on MOTU Classics figures. Fang-Or is a great example of a recent figure that was first made for the MOTU Classics line for the Origins line!

Vykron: May 2, 2023
Vykron’s trademark was renewed on May 2, 2023 and Mattel revealed and released the figure figure for preorder in the Masterverse line on June 6, 2023

This new version of Vykron looks spectacular! They went with a new take on the Miliary helmet and space helmet this time around. Instead of Tank Head, they went with more of a mechanical bird like helmet with laser canons on either side. Then for the Space Ace instead of the very Mando looking space helmet, they went with a design that is much more MOTU inspired and resembles a Zodak/ Stratos inspired design. Mattel nailed the Barbarian look complete with furry shoulder accents and his classic Vykron helmet!

Vykron is a character from the Masters of the Universe toy line and media franchise. The character was originally released as a convention exclusive figure in 2012 by Mattel. In terms of his backstory, Vykron is described as a shape-shifting warrior who can take on various forms and appearances. In the original release of the toy, he came with three interchangeable outfits, allowing him to transform into a barbarian, a spaceman, or a military soldier.

Mark Taylor is a former toy designer who worked for Mattel in the 1980s, during the development of the Masters of the Universe toy line. Taylor is known for his contributions to the early development of the franchise, including the creation of many iconic characters such as He-Man, Skeletor, and Battle Cat. The drawing depicts a character with a similar design to the 2012 convention exclusive Vykron figure, with three interchangeable outfits representing different eras of human history (prehistoric, medieval, and modern).

As the Battle Ram Blog states: “As Taylor tells the story, Mattel was looking for a new boy’s action figure line that could be produced without paying licensing fees to a third party. The company had passed on making Star Wars toys, and of course Star Wars had become enormously successful in the meantime. Mattel’s existing boy’s lines (Clash of the Titans, Battlestar Galactica and Flash Gordon) could not compete with Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. As part of the initiative to create a new male action figure line, Roger Sweet (a designer at Mattel), used some of Mark Taylor’s drawings to assist in developing a pitch for a new line of action figures. For a presentation to Mattel CEO Ray Wagner, Sweet created three rudimentary action figures, which were really Big Jim figures packed with extra clay muscles. In Roger’s concept, the character could be a generic hero, outfitted with science fiction, barbarian or military costumes, and would have access to science fiction vehicles.”

MOTU Classics Vykron Figure
Vykron is definitely an interesting piece of history and in 2012, he was released as part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line.

His bio reads: “His Fifty years before Prince Adam was born, Vykron the Warrior fought in the gladiatorial arena of Lord Choloh, ruler of the Vine Jungle. Learning from each defeated opponent, he became a master of many combat techniques and weapons. As much a champion as a showman, he would often dress in outlandish garb to rouse the crowd and show off his skills. In his final match, he fought against the great Gygor. Before a cheering crowd, the evil fighting gorilla ripped Vykron’s body in half – at long last defeating the arena champion. Following this match, Gygor claimed not only the arena championship but rule of the Jungle itself, forcing Choloh to abdicate his throne. In life, Vykron™ was the greatest of Choloh’s gladiatorial warriors, fighting in any environment at any time.”

This figure paid homage to Roger Sweet’s designs and it essentially was a standard He-Man figure that came with a ton of interchangeable armor and accessories to recreate the three different looks. The top of He-Man’s head was notched out so you can replace it with the barbarian style helmet or the space the helmet and the buck was stripped down so you can interchange the armor with ease.

Barbarian
The majority of this figure is the same as He-Man and the forearms and hands were a new design. He was also designed with unique gauntlets (even though they’re only ever visible on the barbarian version of the figure. He had armor that resembled the vintage figure armor with a gray furry back to it.

Space Man
The space armor and suit looks more like he belongs in the Star Wars Universe as the He-Mandalorian although he would be been cast out of the clan because his helmet did not cover his face – “this is the way.” His helmet slips over his head and seats where it’s notched out, similar to his barbarian look. He does have a very large piece of “family jewel” armor that connects to his open chested armor. He looks like he belongs with the New Adventures series but it’s an interesting concept.

Military Soldier
The military sentry or soldier look is the kookiest one of all! His turret head looks more like a face and he has tracks that run around the top of his shoulder armor. They really leaned into the tank look with the long turret and oversized leg armor.

Vikor: May 12, 2023
Shortly after King Grayskull’s death, Vikor, a great warrior from the north was chosen by the Goddess to help protect the Sword of He while all of Eternia waited for a true heir to be born. Already a master of the battleaxe, Vikor’s legend soon spread across Eternia® as he quested to vanquish evil – battling the remaining renegade Snake Men and defending the Valley of Gnarl from the Fighting Foe Men. Although his time as a He-Man was relatively short, his contribution to the legend will never be forgotten in the great archives of Eternia.

Vikor was first produced as a figure for the Masters of the Universe Classics line!

Vikor also appeared briefly on the Masters of the Universe Revelation Netflix series.

Granamyr: April 19, 2023
Being noted as an ancient Dragon that resided with others of his kind at Darksmoke, it was known that Granamyr lived during the terrible time when his people and those of Humans fought one another in Eternia’s distant past. This was until a truce was settled between the two where the Dragons decided to leave the rest of the world and live in isolation at Darksmoke. Granamyr himself is over 10,000 years old, as it was stated he hadn’t had a good laugh since that time. At some point during the past, it was known that the evil dragon Shadow Wing was an opponent of his who was later imprisoned in an obelisk to shield the world from his evil. Granamyr’s great power made him a powerful sorcerer and was empowered by the mystical fires from the Pit of Shadows.

Granamyr was first released as a large figure in red back in 2012 for the MOTU Classics line back in 2012.

Granamyr was produced in the MOTU Classics line as a figure with a green variant for Power in 2016.

Multi-Bot: March 9, 2022
Mulit-Bot was the second figure in the MOTU line to come out with the mix and match style body parts. Just like Modulok, Multi-bot too came with 22 body parts but this time could combine with Modulok to create a huge Mega Bot monster like creature!Apparently as it says on the box, there were 1000 possible combinations, so I am sure kids had hours and hours of fun with this thing! Multibot was released a year after Modulok in 1986, and continued that gimmick heavy theme of the MOTU toys back in the 80’s. Also member of the Evil Horde, Multi Bot was known as the ” Evil Robot of a thousand bodies” Made of completely all new parts, Multi-bot did not share any molds with previous MOTU figures, sigaling the strength of the line at the time! Multi-Bot first appeared on the She-Ra Princess of Power cartoon in the episode “Horde Prime Takes A Holiday”. Multi-Bot was the goofy Horde robot created by Modulok. Mattel has just recently renewed this trademark this year on 03/09/2022, showing us we have so much more to come in the MOTU Origins line!

Rotar: January 13, 2022
Rotar, Heroic Master of Hyper Spin was originally released by Mattel in 1987. One of Mattel’s later releases, Rotar continued the gimmick heavy theme by coming with gyro gears that would make him spin! This figure was very unique in that it was half action figure and half twistoid spinning toy. With only articulated arms, this twistoid action figure was considered a deluxe release with it’s included axe, gears blade and multi-geared spinner accessory / stand. The trademark on Rotar was renewed just this year on 01/13/2022! So Mattel is going hard with new trademark renewals signally the line is strong and we have so much more to see in Origins!

Megator: November 11, 2021
Continuing with the Powers of Grayskull, Megator, evil Giant Destroyer was one of the last vintage Masters of the Universe characters to be released in 1988. One of two giants, Megator and Titus, the two rarest of the MOTU vintage figures, was released only in Europe, primarily in Italy. Originally designed to be part of the spin off “Powers of Grayskull” line, Megator and Titus were still released with the Masters of the Universe logos on their packaging. Megator, the green giant evil warrior stands 15″ tall and came with real rooted hair. He included a spring-loaded right leg for a kicking action feature, and he came with a spiked ball and chain. Megator’s trademark was also recently renewed just this past November on 11/11/2021. Can we perhaps see the two giants joining the Origins line?

Gwildor: July 30, 2021
We reported on a back in the beginning of April of Gwildor being included on a leaked list. Now being it was April 1st, we don’t know if it was part of an April Fool’s joke, or if it was legitimate. But seeing as Gwildor’s trademark was renewed just last year on 07/30/2021, then perhaps it may be legitamate! Gwildow was a fairly newer character to the Masters of the Universe world. He was introduced into the line after appearing in the 1987 live-action movie Masters of the Universe, starting Dolph Lundgren. Gwildor is a member of the Thenurians, which are a dwarf-like race. As you can see by the tools and equipment that adorn him, he is a is a famous locksmith and inventor. Gwildor is notable mainly for his greatest creation: The Cosmic Key, a mechanical device with the ability to transport its holder to any place throughout space and time. With his trademark being renewed just last year, this is great news for fans of the movie who were hoping to see movie figures made from the vintage line! Of course, we don’t have the official images yet, but the figure below represents the vintage Gwildor from 1987. We are sure other movie figures will follow like Blade, Saurod, and possibly a movie version of He-Man (played by Dolph Lundgren) and Skeletor (played by Frank Langella).

The Faceless One: June 28, 2021
The Faceless one, Ancient Lord of Zalesia, released in the Masters of the Universe Classics line in 2011 has had it’s trademark renewed on 06-28-2021. Introduced into the 200x era animated series as the father of Evil Lyn, he got his own figure and also became a fan favorite. Being a shadowy faceless character on the cartoon, the action figure’s face lacked detail which helped to give that same effect. This figure used the basic standard classics buck, but included very nice armor detail, skirt accent pieces and a very detailed cape design. He also came with a Havoc Staff very similar to that of Skeletor’s. With the introduction of 200X He-Man and 200X Skeletor into the Origins line, seeing the renewal of this trademark, would be a great candidate for a 200X style Origins figure.

Eldor: June 22, 2021
Eldor is a fun one, as he was one of the unproduced prototype characters of the “Powers of Grayskull” spin off line that never came to fruition in the 1980’s Masters of the Universe Line. Prototype images of Eldor and He-Ro had been around for many years, but we never got these figures as kids. But in 2019, thanks to bay area based Super7, we finally got Eldor & He-Ro figures as part of the Masters of the Universe Vintage Style 5.5″ collection. Eldor known as the Heroic Guardian of the Book of Living spells, looks just like his prototype images! The giant tri-fold book works like a magic trick and changes images by alternating the way the book is opened. You can read all about Eldor’s creation and back story on the Eldor: (1987/2019) battleramblog.com. The trademark for Eldor was renewed by Mattel on 06/22/2021, so we can see that was also fairly recently. Let’s hope Mattel has plans for perhaps a “Powers of Grayskull” sub-line! How aewsome would that be? I would love to get a vac-metal He-Ro as well in the Origins style articulation!!!

Rio Blast: May 20, 2021
Rio Blast is another character that has his trademark renewed not too long ago on 5/20/2021. Released by Mattel in 1986, Rio Blast is a futuristic cowboy who has hidden blasters all over his body. With pop out laser cannons from his chest and legs six shooters at his wrists and shoulder cannons, Rio Blast was yet another one Mattel’s gimmick heavy figures that was common in the later releases of MOTU figures. A cowboy seems a bit out of place in the planet of Eternia, but this techno-heavy Cowboy sure packs a lot of techno fire power and that technology part is what makes him make sense in the line. If we get this one for Origins, it will be fun to see what they do with all his blaster gimmicks! Do you think he would be considered a deluxe release? Only time will tell!

Modulok: March 25, 2021
Modulok is another very gimmicky MOTU Character whole trademark was renewed on 03/25/2021. Shortly after his figure was release in 1985, Modulok appears on the toy line’s accompanying cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation. Consisting of 22 Body parts and a 2-part laser gun, Modulok was the first of its kind for the MOTU line! Coined ” Evil Beast of a thousand Bodies”, this Ultimate Transforming Creature was a member of the Evil Horde. Although the Evil Horde are used as the main villains Filmation’s spin-off series, She-Ra Princess of Power, rather than He-Man, Modulok is given the unique honor of making his debut on He-Man instead. Halfway through the first season of, She-Ra: Modulok is incorporated into the She-Ra series, the only character from either show to be transferred permanently from one to the other. This occurs in the episode “Gateway to Trouble” in which Modulok builds a device for Skeletor which can open a portal to Etheria to transport his whole army to the planet. This character is interesting because we recently got the reveal for a 4 legged Mantenna, and that new 4 legged sculpt has set the stage for perhaps how they can also pull off Modulok in the Origins style.

As we covered in our Masters of the Universe Origins Teased Figures From Card Art article, Modulok has already appeared on several card back artwork. A gaggle of evil Horde henchman appear on the Sorceress’ card art as well as Hordak’s, including Mantenna, Modulok, Leech, and Grizzlor, make up the bulk of this section. Since we have now seen Modulok on 2 card back artworks and the trademark has recently been renewed, we can probably make this one a given to come to the Origins line in the near future!

Flogg: March 25, 2021
As mentioned above, last month, we received a leak from CDR that a Galactic Protector He-Man is coming to the Masterverse line, so seeing the trademark renewal of Flogg early last year on 03/25/2021 is an example of the likelihood of more New Adventures of He-Man figures might be coming down the line. Flogg, known as the Evil Leader of the Space Mutants was released into the Masters of the Universe Classics line in 2014. The original vintage figure of Flogg was part of the New Adventures of He-Man toy line in 1989. Flogg wears a very futuristic red space suit with silver accents. He included a space whip and Eterian looking sword. Flogg’s purple faces has a reptilian like appearance and really stands out with the silver helmet and red space suit he wears.

The Unnamed One: January 28, 2021
The Unnamed One, Lord of Chaos, released into the Masters of the Universe Classics line in 2014, Evil Trollon served by the Snake Men. Similar to Orko, in the Trollon species, The Unnamed One is a villain in the He-Ro, son of He-Man faction. The Unnamed one came with some great accessories which included a magical blast effect, snake design wand, alternate head and flight stand. The Unnamed one’s real name was Gorpo, which was also an early working name for Orko. The Unnamed One’s trademark was renewed on 01/28/2021, so here again could be a new character we might see in the Masterverse line.
